Ikakasal na si Deli at Henz next week. Hindi ka ba talaga pupunta?

I sighed. It's been three weeks, hindi pa rin umaalis si Ruby sa Baguio. I couldn't even contact her. Hindi ko naman mapuntahan dahil sa totoo lang... hindi ko pa rin alam kung ano ang sasabihin ko.

I typed my reply to her.

Me:

Susubukan ko. I can't promise. Please tell them that I'm sorry.

I locked my phone and tried to sleep but I kept on sighing. Damn, this bed feels so big now that I am alone... now that Ruby's not lying beside me. My phone beeped again. Ang dami naman yatang time ni Anna mag-text ngayon?

Architect Anna:

Alam mo, you should go. Why don't you use this opportunity to take Ruby back? Hindi ko alam ang problema pero the fact that she's here for few weeks already means something. Pumunta ka sa kasal ni Deli at Henz. She's the one who's in charge sa foods pati sa ayos ng reception dito sa garden ng compound. You'd be proud of her.

I smiled as I felt the persuasion in Anna's message. I typed a reply.

Me:

I've always been so proud of her. There's no moment in my life that I wasn't.

Architect Anna:

Then come to the wedding. Henz is actually asking for you.

I sighed. Maybe I should go?

Me:

Should I go?

Architect Anna:

You must. :)

Araw-araw akong bumibisita sa Scarlett Cuisine simula nang umalis si Ruby, hoping that she'll visit her business. I just want to see her. Wala pa talaga akong planong makipag-usap kasi hindi ko pa alam kung anong sasabihin ko. The chefs, staffs and crews told me that she's only working from home. Hindi pa bumibisita pero binibisita raw ni Vanessa ang lugar once or twice a week.

"Bisitahin mo na, pare," sabi ni Aldrin.

We were in a bar. Connor's busy with his family so I understand that he can't come. Lumalaki na rin ang anak nila ni Savvy. Si Terrence naman, wala sa Manila. Aldrin is the only one who's available kaya naman siya lang ang kasama ko ngayon.

"Ano namang sasabihin ko?" I sighed as I drank my Tequila from the shot glass. "Siya itong nagsabi na mag-i-stay sa tabi ko sa tuwing nararanasan ko 'yon. Pero ano? Umalis na naman siya."

"Nanatili naman siya sa 'yo sa loob ng ilang taon, ah? Hindi ka naman niya pinabayaan, pare. Ang hiling niya lang sa 'yo, gawin mo 'yung dapat mong gawin habang nasa tabi mo siya. Hindi kasi p'wede 'yung nag-i-stay siya sa tabi mo pero ikaw, hindi gumagawa ng paraan para mas gustuhin niyang mag-stay nang matagal sa 'yo. I know that Ruby will take you back if you do what she wants you to do. Para rin naman sa 'yo 'yon."

I sighed. Tangina, hindi ko na alam gagawin ko.

"Walang mali magpatingin sa... ano na nga tawag do'n?" napalingon ako sa kan'ya. Nakakunot ang mga noo niya habang iniisip ang gustong sabihin. "Nakalimutan ko anong tawag. Nasa dulo na ng dila ko."

I chuckled. "Ulyanin ka na. Ang dalas mong gan'yan, pare," I laughed. "Psychiatrist."

"'Yon!" he laughed. "Tangina, ito palagi naming problema ni Twila bago kami ikasal, eh. Lagi ko na lang nakakalimutan mga sasabihin."

I laughed. "At least, nakuha mo siya sa kabila ng problema niyo. Eh, ako?" I sighed. "Lumalabo na."

Tinapik ni Aldrin ang likod ko, dahilan para mapalingon ako sa kan'ya. "Kausapin mo. Baka hinihintay ka lang niya. Wala namang mawawala kung kakausapin mo siya ngayon. Hindi naman masamang lumunok ng pride paminsan-minsan, lalo na kung mahal mo 'yung dahilan."

I smiled a little before I drank my shots again.

The night before Henz and Deli's wedding, I was contemplating if I should go. I was lying on my bed, staring at the suit that I am planning to wear on the wedding, when Anna called. Napabuntonghininga ako bago sinagot ang tawag niya at tamad na nagsalita.

"Hey..."

She laughed. "Susunduin ka na namin ni George. Pupunta na kami. Hindi p'wedeng hindi ka pupunta."

"Oo nga, Architect! Hindi pa kita natatalo sa inuman!" I heard George's voice.

I laughed. "Enjoy na enjoy ka na naman sa pagiging Uber driver ni Anna, ah?"

Narinig ko ang malakas na tawa ni Anna sa kabilang linya. "Tang ina mo!"

Pati ako ay natawa na lang din. "Huwag niyo na akong sunduin..."

"Huh? Eh paalis na kami! Nag-take out lang kami sa McDo sandali."

I laughed. "Hindi na..." I gulped down as I stare at the suit. "P-Pupunta ako."

"Yehey!!! Tara na, bb, tulog na tayo!" sabi ni Anna bago pinatay ang tawag.

Napapailing na lang ako bago bumangon mula sa higaan at inihanda ang mga gamit na dadalhin ko. Hindi ko alam kung paano haharapin si Ruby, pero sana... sana maging maayos na.

Kinuha ko sa drawer ang dalawang velvet box na pinaglagyan ng singsing at kwintas na ibinigay ko sa kan'ya. Pati ang mga duplicate key ng condo unit ko na ibinigay ko sa kan'ya, na iniiwan niya palagi sa tuwing iniiwan niya ako, kinuha ko.

This time... I won't lose to my pride.

This time... I won't lose Ruby for anything.

I'd rather lose everything I have, than to lose her.

I checked my time and it's 11:07 p.m. Lumabas na ako ng unit, dala ang suit at bag na naglalaman ng mga gamit ko. Sumakay ako ng elevator pababa sa underground parking lot, tsaka sumakay sa sasakyan ko at nag-drive papuntang Baguio.

I'll get you back, whatever it takes, Ruby.

After travelling for 4 hours, I arrived at Baguio. Nag-check in ako sa hotel since wala naman akong bahay dito. I suppose, Anna's friends will be staying in her house. Sa laki ng bahay nila, kasya naman kahit na bente katao ro'n pero mas okay kung mag-hotel na lang ako.

Nagising ako ng 8:00 a.m. sa walang tigil na tawag ni Anna sa akin.

"Hello," antok na antok na pagsagot ko sa tawag niya.

"Nasaan ka na?!" malakas na tanong niya sa kabilang linya. "You should come here na!"

I sighed. "I'm on my way."

"Mama mo, on my way! Bilis na, habang nandito pa kami sa bahay nila Henz! Dumiretso ka na sa simbahan, ha!"

I chuckled after hearing her rants. "Thank you, Anna. Thank you so much."

She chuckled. "Wala na kaming ibang gusto para kay Ruby kung hindi ikaw lang, kaya ayusin mo na 'yan, ha? Ayusin niyo na 'yan."

After I said yes, she ended the call.

Mabilis akong naligo at gumayak para sa kasal. I wore the black suit that I bought from Manila for this event. Hindi ko talaga plano ang pumunta pero kaiisip ko kay Ruby, napabili ako nang wala sa oras.

What if this wedding will make me bring her back to me? What if this wedding is the bridge to our own infinity?

Anna called as I started driving to the church.

"Papunta na kami sa simbahan! Nasaan ka na ba?" iritang tanong niya.

I laughed. "I really am on the way now."

She sighed in relief. "Good. Akala ko, kailangan ko pang sabihan si George na hatakin ka papunta rito, eh. Hay nako, Jin! Stressed mo ako!"

I chuckled before I turned left. "I'm sorry. I'm almost there."

"Ohh, okay! Sige! Good luck!"

I chuckled before she ended the call. Ilang minuto lang din, nakarating na ako sa simbahan. It was that church where we broke up. It was that church where I had to leave her even though she's crying.

It was that church when Ruby told me that she understands everything but couldn't accept me yet, because she's hurt... we're hurt.

But right now, this church is where I'll take her back.

It wasn't the church where I was reminded of the pain of officially breaking up with her anymore.

It was, now, the church where I'll marry her.

Matapos kong mag-park, dumiretso na ako sa simbahan. Kabang-kaba pa ako dahil sa dami ng tao na nandoon, pakiramdam ko, mapapahiya kaagad ako kahit na wala pa naman akong ginagawa.

Hinanap ko si Ruby sa mga tao na nakatayo sa harap ng simbahan. They were all wearing formal attires with touch of red, since it was the said motif. Ang ganda tingnan ngayon ng mga tao.

I don't know if it's Deli's idea but red is definitely my baby's favourite color. Sabi rin ni Anna, si Ruby ang in charge sa reception. It made me feel excited now that I am here. The thought of Ruby planning our wedding on her own since she wanted to do that thing by herself excites me damn much. She's very hands on to the things she loves to do.

I stopped beside Vanessa who's with Honey. She's obviously surprised now that I am here. I really don't plan on coming, but I don't want to take this chance for granted.

"Mabuti nakapunta ka!" masayang sabi ni Vanessa bago nakipag-beso sa akin. Tumingin siya sa isang banda bago tinawag ang taong kanina ko pa hinahanap. "Ruby!"

Ruby turned around as soon as she heard her name. Her mouth parted when she saw me as her hair danced to the wind that blew upon her. I heard Vanessa talked but I couldn't process what she's saying anymore.

I knew from the very first time that I saw her, Ruby is a very beautiful woman who has a quirky and humorous side of her. But I never thought that seeing her now in her red night gown, with her long straight her and a little amount of makeup on her face, she would look this... ethereal.

She's the most beautiful woman I know. She's so beautiful that my heart beats so wild, it hurts.

People around me left me when Ruby walked slowly towards me. She looked away when she's finally in front of me.

"Anong ginagawa mo rito?" nakaiwas ang tingin na tanong niya.

I smiled. "To... take you back," she looked at me with her eyes, slightly wet. "I'll take you back."

She gulped as she pressed her lips together, stopping her mouth from talking. She sighed as her tears fell. She quickly wiped it gently.

"You can't take me back if you continue to let yourself—"

"I will... take you back," I said in full determination. I sighed. "No matter how much it'll cost me, or what it'll cost me, I will take you back. If I need to beg here, right in front of you, I'd willingly do just to have you back," I sighed when I felt my corner of my eyes are starting to heat. "I can't lose you anymore or I'll lose myself."

She sighed. "Jin, isa lang naman ang gusto ko. Pinatagal ko 'yung pagpayag ng kasal sa 'yo kasi gusto kong ma-realize mo, on your own, na kailangan mo ng tulong. I've made you realize that for so many times and you won't listen. I resorted to that decision for your own sake. You need the professional's help, Jin," her eyes watered after saying that.

"And I will. I will accept that help. Kahit anong klaseng tulong, kahit na kaninong tulong, tatanggapin ko," I took her hands and held it tight. "But can't you stay? I need you as much as I need those help," I said in desperation.

She gulped as I felt her hand held mine too. Sa maikling panahon, nakahinga ako nang maluwag. I saw her mouth parted like she was about to talk, but people around us started clapping their hands, taking the attention from both of us.

The bridal car just arrived. We clapped our hands too when it finally stopped.

The ceremony started not long after the bride arrived. Habang nakikinig at nanonood, I imagined myself marrying Ruby. I can't wait for that moment. I always dreamt of it, of course. Sa sobrang dalas kong mag-propose sa kan'ya noon, hindi na bago sa akin ang mangarap at managinip na ikinakasal na nga kami.

After the wedding ceremony, we headed straight to the reception, which is in the garden of compound. Ngiting-ngiti ako nang makita ko ang ayos ng reception. It was simple, elegant... magical. The theme is red and white. It was really my baby's work.  I can see her style scattered on the place.

"Lawak ng ngiti, ah?"

Napalingon ako sa nagsalita sa tabi ko. Anna's beside me, eating a lumpiang shanghai on her hand. I laughed.

"Ang ganda ng ayos, eh."

She laughed. "Of course, si Ruby ang nag-ayos niyan! Hindi 'yan natulog nang maaga, matapos lang ang set-up niyan. Hindi 'yan nag-beauty rest!" she looked at me with her proud eyes. "Will you take her home with you after this?"

I laughed. "Oo naman."

Kumagat siya sa lumpia niya bago tumango. "Dapat lang. Umay na umay na si George kay Ruby kasi palaging nasa bahay at doon ginagawa ang online work sa restaurant niya. Alam mo naman ang dalawang 'yan, para ring aso't pusa."

We both laughed at her statement.

Naupo na kami sa table na para sa kanilang magkakaibigan. Isinali na nila talaga ako, since busy ang magpipinsan na mag-estima ng bisita kaya wala akong ibang p'wedeng samahan kung hindi ang mga kaibigan ni Anna at Deli.

It was the loudest table, actually. Kahit na si Anna lang naman talaga ang kaibigan ko, I never felt alone and out of place. Ang ingay nila, lalo na ni Aika. Ang dami niyang k'wento tungkol sa buhay niya sa New Zealand.

The whole day was fun. Inabot ng gabi ang party dahil nagkaroon ng inuman. Marami pang mga humabol na bisita dahil tinapos na muna ang trabaho, at karamihan doon ay nanggaling pa sa Manila at Nueva Ecija, mga dating katrabaho at kaibigan ni Deli.

They were all proud of her and what she has achieved. Deli, actually, had the darkest moments in her life because of what happened from her past and how she handled it, but look at her now, she's the happiest woman in this place. Hennessey really handled her very well.

I checked my watch and it's 11:30 p.m. Naubos na halos ang mga bisita dahil ang iba ay lasing na at ang iba naman ay nag-uwian na. Hindi ako masiyadong uminom dahil kailangan ko pang mag-drive bukas pauwi ng Manila. I can't let Ruby drive that long. She'll be exhausted.

Ruby sat beside me. Sinalinan niya ng Rum ang baso naming dalawa. We toast the glass before she drank it.

"Kailan ka uuwi?" she asked.

I smirked. "Kailan tayo uuwi?" she rolled her eyes when I corrected her. "It all depends on you. Hindi ako aalis dito nang hindi ka kasama."

She sighed. "Jin..."

I sighed before I took the 2 velvet boxes and the keys to my condo unit. Ibinaba ko 'yun sa harap niya. Nakatitig lang siya sa mga 'yon, pinipigilan ang sariling magsalita.

"Pinagawa ko 'yung kwintas na sinira mo noon, kasi 'yan 'yung kauna-unahang bagay na binili ko na ikaw ang iniisip ko habang nasa napakalayong lugar ako. That ring... it was customized too because I want the ring to be special... to be the only design in this world and you're the only one who owned it. And the keys, please stop giving them back to me because the condo unit is not mine alone; it's yours too, you know that."

I drank the Rum that she poured to my glass before I continued talking. "I will take you back. I'll text you the address of the hotel I am staying at right now. Come to me, wearing those things, together with your things, and go home with me. And I promise to take all the help that I need to make myself better."

After I told her that, I stood up. Nagpaalam ako sa mga Tita at Tito niya, maging sa mga magulang niya, na aalis na ako. Henz and Deli insisted that I should stay since kilala naman na nila ako at madalas ako rito, but I told them that I'm already staying in a hotel.

After that, I drove away from their compound.

Nang makarating ako sa hotel room ko, naligo kaagad ako nang mawala ang tama at amoy ng alak sa akin. As I showered, I remembered how nervous I was while I talked to Ruby, and left her alone like it was just fine to me.

Deep inside, my heart is beating damn wild, I couldn't even stop my hands from trembling. I can't believe I did that.

It was 1:30 a.m. already and I'm still not sleeping.

Hindi ako makatulog. Paano kung hindi magpunta si Ruby? Paano kung ayaw na niya talaga? Paano kung maghintay ako rito sa wala?

Napabuntonghininga ako. Hindi naman niya siguro ako paghihintayin dito. Sigurado naman akong sasabihan niya ako kung sakaling... hindi nga siya pupunta at ayaw na niyang bumalik sa akin.

Pero hindi pa rin ako aalis dito. I'd still stay here. Hindi ako uupo lang at walang gagawin kung sakali mang ayaw na niyang bumalik sa akin. I'd court her multiple times if I must. Lahat gagawin ko.

I sighed. Just by the thoughts of Ruby, not wanting me anymore, is hurting me. Tanginang buhay 'to.

It's been few hours since I arrived here in my hotel room. Hindi pa rin ako inaantok. Napabuntonghininga ako bago bumangon. I went to the mini refrigerator to drink some water when my phone rang. Mabilis kong ininom ang lahat ng tubig sa mineral bottle na 'yon bago nagmamadaling kinuha ang cellphone ko sa higaan.

She's calling!

I answered her call quickly. "Ruby..."

"Bakit naman iniwan mo ako? You should've wait for me para sabay na tayong pumunta rito... or dapat sa bahay ka na lang nag-stay para hindi sayang ibabayad mo rito..."

Nag-init ang sulok ng mga mata ko nang marinig ang malumanay na boses niya sa kabilang linya. Hindi rin nagtagal, sunud-sunod na tumulo ang mga luha ko habang paulit-ulit na lumulunok.

"N-Nasaan ka?" I asked, trying to conceal the truth that I am crying right now because of the relief I felt.

"I'm in front of your... hotel room. Can you come—"

Hindi ko na siya pinatapos pa. Ibinalibag ko na sa kung saan ang cellphone ko at binuksan kaagad ang pintuan. I saw her in her casual clothes, wearing the customized London Skyline necklace that I gave her. She smiled at me as she showed me her left hand with the ring on it. Hinila ko kaagad siya papasok ng room ko at mabilis na hinalikan.

It was the happiest moment that I had recently. I was so relieved that I couldn't stop myself from crying... from kissing her.

I pushed her to bed as I crawled on top of her. I broke the kiss and stared at her face.

"Don't you dare leave me again."

She smiled. "I won't anymore. I promise."

I kissed her again, and we made love to each other like we'd never do this together... like it was always the first time.

It always feels new when I'm with her.

It always feels romantically unfamiliar.

Everything always feels good when it comes to her; too good that it always seems unfamiliar and new.

Everything always feels too good that it always feels foreign and fresh, even though you've done it for so many times.

Kissing her always makes me feel that I got my first kiss in all of my lifetime.

Making love to her always feels like I just had sex the first time.

And seeing her face... my heart always feels like it was always the first time that it's seeing her. it's always beating so loud... so wild like it wanted to just come out of my chest.

"J-Jin..." she moaned my name as I thrust her inside for so many times.

I don't know how many times we've done it tonight but I don't want to end this yet. I missed her that I want to make love to her until the sun rises.

"Ahh, Jin!"

When I released again, I landed on top of her, giving her little kisses on her face. Her small hands are on my bare back, slightly caressing it.

"Hindi ka pa pagod?" tanong niya nang natatawa. "Nakakaapat na tayo."

"Pagod ka na ba?"

She tried to conceal her smile before she shook her head. "Isa pa."

I laughed before kissing her again.

Damn, this woman.

A week after I took her back, we started going to the Psychiatrist together.

All this time, she was right. I was diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, the same thing that Connor had but treated immediately when he had her relationship with Savvy back. We didn't even knew that before because it was suppose to be a secret. Sinabi niya lang sa akin ang tungkol doon nang sinabi ko sa kan'ya ang sa akin.

Connor gave me tips, tulad ng lagyan ng limit ang pagpupuyat, huwag masiyadong pilitn ang sarili sa trabaho hanggang sa mapagod nang sobra ang katawan, uminom ng vitamins na sinabi niya, at marami pang iba. Kailangan ko rin daw ng proper diet, at kasama ang pagbabawas ng alak doon.

It's been few months since I started receiving medications and therapy. Mabuti na lang at hindi ko na kailangan ang surgery dahil gumagana naman ang gamot at ang therapy sa akin.

Kinurot ni Ruby ang tagiliran ko matapos kong inumin ang gamot na inihatid niya sa akin.

"Aray!"

"Ang kulit-kulit kasi, sinabi nang noon pa lang, magpatingin na, eh," reklamo niya bago nahiga sa tabi ko.

Ibinaba ko sa side table ang baso bago yumakap sa kan'ya. I kissed her temple when she put her head on my chest.

"I love you," I said.

"I love you, matigas ang ulo kong fiancé," she cutely said. I chuckled.

And then I remembered something. 

"Alam mo noong hindi pa kita kilala, sabi ko kay Connor, kapag nahanap ko na 'yung babaeng para sa akin, hindi lang art gallery ang ibibigay ko."

She scoffed. "Anong ka-corny-han na naman 'yan?"

I laughed. "Bituin. Literal na bituin," tumawa siya sabay hampas nang malakas sa likod ko. "Aray!"

She laughed again before looking at my face. "Sige nga, ikuha mo nga ako ng bituin?!"

Bumangon ako mula sa higaan; ganoon din ang ginawa niya. She looked at me, confused, as I opened the lower part of my drawer. Kinuha ko ro'n ang naka-frame na certificate tsaka iniabot sa kan'ya.

"Ano 'to?"

Itinuro ko ang laman ng certificate at pinabasa sa kan'ya. Pinanood kong gumalaw ang mga mata niya habang binabasa ang mga salitang naka-print sa certificate na 'yon. Ilang sandali pa, unti-unti nang namula ang mga mata niya.

"Wah," she laughed without looking at me. "Naniniwala kang totoo 'to?" she gulped before looking at me with her wet eyes. "Hindi naman daw totoo 'to."

I chuckled before pinching her nose that turned red for stopping herself from crying. "Naniniwala ka rin naman. It shows in your face, baby," I planted a kiss on her lips.

Muli siyang lumunok bago tuluyan nang tumulo ang mga luha niya. "Why did you name this flaring red star with Scarlett Ruby Zamora – Ocampo?" she laughed. "Ang haba naman ng name."

I smiled. "I researched and saw that there are many women out there who has the same name as you, kaya isinama ko na ang surname mo at ang magiging surname mo soon."

She laughed before coming on top of me while we're sitting. Patak pa rin nang patak ang mga luha niya na parang walang katapusan, na para bang hindi nauubos ang tubig sa mga mata niya.

"I really think that we should marry immediately."

I laughed. "I would love to do that," I wrapped my arms on her waist. "I can marry you tomorrow if I wanted to."

She laughed. "I want a simple and elegant wedding, Jin. Can we marry in a month or two? Habang hindi pa malaki ang tiyan ko."

My heart skipped a beat after hearing what she said. At first, it was hard to process. And when I tried recalling what she said, my heart started beating so wild.

"W-What?" I asked, chuckling.

She smiled before planting a soft kiss on my lips. "Buntis ako."

Tumayo ang mga balahibo ko bago tumawa sa saya. Paulit-ulit kong hinalikan ang labi niya dahil sa kaligayahang naramdaman ko sa balitang sinabi niya.

"Kailan pa? When did you stop taking your pills?" I asked, unable to believe what she said.

"It's been a month since I stopped taking pills. Hindi ko talaga sinabi sa 'yo kasi gusto ko na ng anak. And that one night we had a rough sex sa bahay namin noong birthday ni Daddy, I made sure that I was pregnant. After two weeks, which is yesterday, I went to my OB and she told me that I am, indeed, pregnant. Congrats, Daddy."

I laughed again before I pinned her on the bed, repeatedly kissing every inch of her face while my hands are inside her sleepwear, playing with her mounds. She chuckled when my mouth tickled her neck with the small kisses I am giving to her.

"Will it limit our sex?" I asked.

"No, but to be safe, we should. This will be the last time that we'll have a rough sex, Jin. Sulitin mo na."

I laughed before tearing her clothes and started wandering her body.

It won't be the last, because when you finally delivered the baby and recovered from that, I'll make sure that you wouldn't even walk by morning that you'll beg for me to not go to work and take care of our baby.

This thing is one of the things I will never, ever, forget, even for a moment.

I will make sure of that.
