Chapter 34:

Few months have passed and I really regain the relationship that I had with Ruby. I've never asked for more, especially that the big project here in Baguio is almost done.

Ang hinihiling ko na lang, pumayag si Ruby na mag-stay ako rito sa Baguio.

"No," diretsong sagot niya habang naglalakad kami sa Session Road.

Today is weekend kaya naman may time kaming maglakad-lakad ni Ruby nang ganito. Day-off niya rin ngayon sa trabaho niya sa isang hotel dito kaya naman napagpasyahan naming magpahangin na rin.

Madalas kasi, lagi lang kaming nasa bahay nila or nasa apartment ko. Well, we're not doing that again, yet. It's only four months since we started this relationship again. Gusto kong dahan-dahanin ngayon.

"Why? Okay naman ako rito, eh."

Tumingin siya nang masama. "You stay here, sige. Tapos ako naman sa Manila."

I sighed again as I followed her. Papalubog na ang araw kaya naman hindi na masiyadong mainit. Pabalik na kami sa sasakyan dahil gusto niyang magluto sa apartment ko. Kanina pa kasi kami lakad nang lakad kahit na mainit. Siguro, napagod na 'to.

"Bakit kasi ayaw mo?"

She sighed before she stopped on walking. She faced me with her serious face. "Wala nga rito ang buhay na nakasanayan mo, Jin."

Heto na naman siya sa rason niya.

"Pero nandito 'yung buhay na gusto ko."

Lumunok siya bago tumalikod sa akin at nagpatuloy sa paglalakad. Sumunod ako sa kan'ya.

"Kung ako at ako pa rin ang gagawin mong dahilan kung bakit gusto mong manatili rito, mas lalong dapat na umalis ka ng Baguio. Jin, nasa Manila ang pamilya mo. Ang mga kaibigan mo, nandoon lahat. Ano bang dahilan mo para mag-stay dito bukod sa akin?"

Napanguso ako sa sinabi niya. Pamilya? My Mom wants me to get Ruby again. Natural, magiging masaya siya kapag nalaman niya ang plano ko. Hindi naman niya ako kinokontrol sa mga gusto ko.

"Pero ikaw naman ang magiging pamilya ko, hindi pa ba sapat 'yun?"

Matagal siyang nanahimik dahil sa sinabi ko. Hindi ko alam kung nag-iisip ba siya ng dapat niyang sabihin sa akin o ayaw na niyang pag-usapan ang tungkol dito. Nakarating na kami sa sasakyan at nagsimula na akong mag-drive pabalik sa apartment ko, ganoon pa rin siya.

Ilang sandali pa, narinig ko siyang sumagot.

"Saka ka na lang kasi mag-stay dito, please," I looked at her and saw that she's looking outside. "You, staying here, is making me pressured. Can you wait for some other time until I established myself? Nagsisimula pa lang ulit akong mag-ipon, eh."

Kumabog ang dibdib ko sa sinabi niyang 'yun. Hindi ko alam kung tama ba ang pagkakaintindi ko pero pakiramdam ko, tungkol ito sa future na kasama siya.

"Tsaka... gusto ko rin naman tumira sa kung saan ka tumira. We can... talk about this further. Hindi lang dito sa Baguio ko gustong tumira. Gusto ko rin... sa Manila."

Napalunok ako at nakaramdam ng panlalamig ng kamay sa sinabi niya. She's clearly thinking about her future with me.

Nang makarating kami sa apartment ko, nakita ko si Anna sa labas ng apartment niya na pinalalayas si George. Hindi ko na sila pinansin pa at nag-park na lang sa harap, bago pinagbuksan si Ruby. It's already 6:01 p.m.

Nang pagbuksan ko si Ruby, sumilay sa akin ang cleavage niyang sumisilip dahil sa suot niya. Mabilis akong nag-iwas ng tingin bago siya tuluyang nakalabas ng sasakyan. Papasok na kami sa apartment nang makarinig kami ng malakas na busina. Lumingon kami sa sasakyang huminto sa harap namin. Mula sa kabubukas lang na bintana, nakita ko ang masamang titig sa akin ng Uber driver ni Anna na si George bago tumingin kay Ruby.

"Umuwi ka kaagad, ha!" bulyaw niya rito.

Pinagtawanan ko si George nang dahil doon, dahilan para tuluyan an itong umalis. Tuluyan na kaming pumasok sa loob ng apartment. Hindi ko alam kung bakit kabang-kaba ako ngayong magkasama kami ni Ruby dito. Hindi naman ako dati ganito ka-nerbyos kapag magkasama kami, ah? Pero ngayon, iba.

Parang iba.

"Ligo lang ako," pagpapaalam ko sa kan'ya.

"Sabay na tayo."

Napatigil ako sa paglalakad bago lumingon kay Ruby. Nakita ko ang nagpipigil ng ngiti niyang labi habang nakatingin siya sa akin.

"Bakit gan'yan itsura mo? First time ba natin makikita ang hubad na katawan ng isa't-isa?" dagdag niya.

I sighed when I felt my manhood awaken. "Ruby."

It was those words that made me sure even more how much I wanted to be with her until the very end.

It was those four words that regained all of my sanity and chose to forget all the pain in the past... making me want to move forward with the best decision for the both of us.

I may leave Baguio, because I know, she wanted to live outside her hometown.

I know now... I know that she wanted to live with me in my hometown.
