# 4 - Lunch Stop

Warning: strong language

You groaned internally when you saw that Jake had, forgotten to grab his lunch on the way out. So you did what any other loving, caring and kind girlfriend would do. You contemplated on whether to let him just suffer without lunch because you are not his maid and contrary to his belief, you actually have shit to do (even if that shit was having brunch with your mother). Or should you, out of the kindness of your heart, drop his lunch off for him? You looked down at the watch adorning your wrist and decided that you could spare some time to head down to the 99. It wouldn't be so bad, you'd get to finally meet his team which was something he constantly raved about doing. And so, after grabbing the brown paper lunch bag, you made your way to the 99.

...

The elevator doors dinged open. You got on and stood besides a shortish man with neat black hair and kind eyes which you knew reflected his personality merely by the beaming smile he sent you when you stepped on. After a few seconds of silence, he burst out suddenly with "Hi! I'm Charles." He extended an excited hand to you which you took with a small smile.

"(Y/N)." You replied simply, Jake having told you to pretty much never give your full name away unless it's to Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson because,

'(Y/N), you have no idea of the absolute nut jobs in this city, plus you could trust Dwayne with your life. If it comes down to me or him, choose him.'

'We're on first name basis with Dwayne now?'

'I have always been and I will always be on first name basis with Dwayne.'

You then went to press the button for the floor but you quickly realised it was already shining, indicating that Charles had probably already pressed it. You heard him let out a gentle and excited gasp as the elevator went up. "You're heading up to the precinct? I'm a detective there." He stated and you let a small chuckle pass you lips, more at ease now that you knew he worked with Jake and you slowly came to realise he was the 'Charles Boyle' Jake talked about. "Are you here for Jake by any chance?" He asked with a mischievous smirk and you nodded cautiously.

"Yeah, I am actually." You answered as the doors opened.

"I can help you find him if you want?" Charles offered and you smiled about to answer, telling him that you'd appreciate it when you heard your name being called.

"(Y/N)?" You heard Jake question confusedly as he made his way over to you, you looked over to him before turning back to Charles.

"Looks like he found me. Thank you for the offer though, Charles." He nodded just as Jake came over.

"Hey babe." He greeted with a huge grin on his face. He leant in, pecking your lips gently. "What're you doing here?" He asked, wrapping an arm around your waist. You only held up the bag in response. His face lit up as he took it, immediately turning and throwing it to a woman behind him with thick, black, curly locks. You raised an eyebrow at him. "I lost a bet." He muttered and you rolled your eyes.

"Of course you did." You scoffed with a small smirk. "Consider yourself lucky, Peralta."

He leant back with a grin, "Lucky to have you?" Leaning forward once more, he placed a kiss on your cheek. "Because I do."

"How dare you give the lunch they brought you to Rosa?" Charles scolded and began swatting Jake's arm.

"I lost a bet!" Jake shouted defensively, his arm slipping from your waist as he jumped behind you, his hands resting on your shoulders as he hid from Charles. "How about introductions!?" Jake suggested nervously, not giving you nor Boyle a chance to reply as he grabbed your hand, dragging you through the small gate and into the bullpen.

"Jake..." You trailed off warily.

"If I could have your attention, please!" He shouted through the office, everyones gaze becoming directed at Jake. "I would like to introduce my partner, if you get what I mean..." He sang, winking over-dramatically. "This is (Y/N) and they're amazing and perfect and I'm probably the luckiest guy in the world." He all but shouted with child-like enthusiasm and though you rolled you eyes you couldn't help the blush that treacherously worked it's way onto you cheeks. "That is all!" And so everyone resumed their work.

"That was so lame." You mumbled, biting your lip to stop the smile tilting at your lips.

Jake let out a small gasp upon seeing your reddening cheeks. "Oh my gosh." He whispered. "You're blushing."

"Y-Yeah because you put me on the spot in front of all those people." You stuttered in reply. He shook his head with the goofiest grin on his face.

"That's not true and you know it." Jake denied. "You think I'm gorgeous," Jake sang. "You want to kiss me, you want to hug me," He wrapped his arms around you and began swaying you side by side.

"Oh God." You muttered.

"You want to love me," He continued singing. "You want to smooch me, you want to hug me-"

"Quit quoting Miss Congeniality at me, Jake!" The only reply you received was a swift kiss on the cheek and a chuckle. But yet, you still loved the dork.
