How Can I Say

Twitter was not the only thing occupying Jae's time after a while (and neither was his lunch money). Firstly, after the manager (basically partially giving up on Day6) allowed them to have their freedom with the work of the next album, Brian began working on a song called "How Can I Say."

Secondly, and more importantly, after Jae discovered the marvelous marvels of a magical video sharing platform called YouTube, he made the terrible mistake of starting a Youtube channel of his own called "JaeSix" to promote Day6 in a way their company JYP never put even half an inch of effort of doing before.

The last Youtube video Jae posted on JaeSix (a perfect example of why it was a terrible mistake, as quoted from the words of Young K) had included Dowoon attempting to introduce the band in English.

It went something like this: "THAT'S RIGHT WE ARE DAYSHIX AND WE AND YOU AND OKAY THE THIS IS AND I LIKE THE MISSES ANNIE MAE MYSTIC IN A THIS THIS... OK?"

[Insert montone narrator voice here] That's when Jae realized that he needed to start English 101 lessons with Day6.

"Alright, let's geddit class," said Jae, in the studio one day, while the band members were sitting around him looking annoyed, "the first word for today is apple. Everyone say apple."

"Apple," they chanted.

"Okay, the second word is boat. Everyone say boat."

"Boat," they said in unison.

"Okay, last word, is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

"Supercaliwdghjabsdhdous," said Dowoon.

That's when Jae decided to give up.

Some time had passed, and thanks to releasing the music video for "Congratulations" and "You Were Beautiful" there was a sudden growth of MyDays and more support had flung towards their direction. Talent recognized indeed. Of course to Jae, their increase in popularity was also because of his YouTube channel but it seemed that he was the only one who thought that.

Jae and YoungK were working on the new song called "How Can I Say" (which opened Jae to countless opportunities for cracking How Can I Say puns that gave YoungK ever more of a reason to want to lock him up in a box and ship him back to Argentina where he was born) and the comeback trailer was almost ready to be released (and potentially ready to kill the mental disposition of excited MyDays). Despite the promise of allowing them to be independent, their manager still hovered over their projects and works with suggestions and corrections... though not enough to bother them.

If anything, they were happy. Happy that for the most part, they weren't being teleported anywhere and forced to play as a soundtrack for other people's lives as much as before.

"It's too good to be true," said Wonpil one day, while waiting in the color-changing studio waiting to film "How Can I Say." They were on their lunch break.

"What is?" asked Jae.

"That we're a real, true band. That people are recognizing us. Funny thing we used our soundtrack songs, but we're not only an invisible soundtrack anymore. You think that all singers have to go through this at one point?"

"If that's the case, and those singers plagiarized from their own soundtracks like us, " said Jae, "I can't even imagine what type of soundtracks Stray Kids or BTS have to play for. Some mega monstropolous war in a country full of colorful wormholes, mental illnesses, and people dressed in either black or bright pink." Flashback to Not Today and Side Effects made him shudder.

"Anyways, I'm so grateful," said Wonpil.

"For what?"

"For not only being a soundtrack anymore. We actually have fans now."

In the background somewhere, Dowoon broke a glass cup while hitting his spoon against it. (Dowoon had a knack for wanting everything to magically turn into a drum, that it was surprising he lost a total of seven hundred fifty two drum sticks without even blinking an eye about it).

Jae smiled. "More like, how can I say thank you..."

"NOT FUNNY, JAE," said Brian from halfway across the room, "NOT FUNNY."
