Kimberly Elliot woke up to a message about a successful heist on her tablet. She silently pumped her fists, grinning broadly for a moment before she composed herself.

She opened the message to find a hastily scribbled report. Her eyes darted over it, picking up words as her smile returned.

Grinning broadly, she sent a message thanking the guard and quickly dressed, setting off to her workplace as fast as she could.

At work, the hallways were bustling and disordered. Kim's people were running here and there, discomfort and surprise showing in her gaze. Some tipped their heads at her or muttered a greeting ; others ignored her and went on.

A scientist, one of the best in his group that Kim had drafted herself, sidled up to her. " Uh.. " He muttered. " Do you have time to come see this? Because I think, really, you should see this. " He didn't add, only beckoning her and walking down one of the new holding cells corridor.

At first, Kim didn't recognise the girl in the cell, mostly because she was tied up and swaddled and hidden in layers of restraints. Even now she was still thrashing angrily, shouting incoherent words that one of her psychologists was evaluating. She seemed quite mortified at the words the little featherball was screeching at the top of her lungs.

Just outside, a guard was moaning, scratching at his face and letting blood flow from the wound. He didn't even seem to notice the scarlet substance coating his face. He just let out terrible wails and screams.

" What happened to him? " Kim asked quietly to the scientist who shook his head. " Terrible, really. Remember that part on the papers where it said this one's probably a Death Paralysis ( I really need to find a new name don't i ) and the cursed variant? Apparently those ones can. Spit. Poison. "

The scientist looked weirdly excited at the prospect, even though it meant the guard would likely die. " Death Parali " were notorious for their venom which had no known cure so far.

" ... Who? " Kim jumped at the sudden voice. Some of the psychologists let out long breaths, seemingly relieved at it.

The girl stared at Kim, her face tilted sideways as she surveyed the scientist. Her eyes locked on Kim's for a moment before moving away. " How old is she again ? " Kim murmured.

" Probably ... well, young. Honestly I couldn't care less. " The scientist replied.

" What happened to Mama ? " It was a timid voice that startled Kim, making her whip around in surprise.

" Do you know anything ? Please, please ... I've got to know what happened to her. Please? " The girl was looking straight at her, pleading.

' What? ' She mouthed at one of the psychologists who only grimly dragged her hand over her windpipe.

Kim didn't know how to tell the girl now.

Tell her that her mother had died and it was probably all Kim's fault. Because she had ordered the attack.

" Telling her will make her uncooeperative. " The scientist murmured. " Not telling will make her rebellious. It's your choice on how to handle this situation, but if I were you I'd wipe her memory. Tell me you're her mother now, and you found her alone in the forests. "

Her mind raced.

' Tell her. '

' No. Don't. A rebellious experiment can easily be broken. If she knows her mother is dead maybe she'll have nothing to live for and- '

' Wipe her memory. That's the way. '

Three sides warring in her mind, Kim forced her mouth to move.

" There, there. it'll all be fine, and if you just go with the guards and get some vaccine shots so we'll all be safe, I'll tell you in a second. " and whispered to the scientist beside her,

" do it. wipe her memories. "

The grin he gave her was enough to chill her bones.
