"What...the Hell happened here..."

Tables were flipped. Shards of glass littered the floor, and to make matters even worse it had looked as if someone had decided to maul the furniture.

Fantastic

The normally lively Pack house had seemed deserted.

He now knew why.

A low growl sounded from behind him.

Blake turned around slowly "Slate...?"

Slates only growled more menacingly "I want my Mate" It was a very well known fact that Slate's wolf was much more vicious than his human side, and during the times his wolf would take complete control there was a very high chance someone was going to get hurt.

Blake's nerves spiked at his Alpha's words. What the hell was he supposed to say? "...I know ...I know you want your mate. And I've got good news, she's coming back today"

"Today?" he growled lightly, his red eyes slowly fading into their normal colour.

Blake nodded as a relieved smile made its way on to his face "She's coming back early. Instead of next week."

"Why?" he asked, successfully reigning control from his wolf.

Blake shrugged "Apparently whatever business they had over there is done and Tanner contacted us."

An aura of calmness shot straight through Slate as he heard his mate was coming back to him by the end of the day — the last two days had been Hell on earth for him to have her so far away.

He was glad she'd at least be in his territory by the end of the day.

During Jade and Tanners short-lived visit they had been staying with a close friend of their parents' at Division Headquarters.

"Morning"

"Have you seen Tanner?''

The older women tensed before smiling hesitantly "I'm sure he's just visiting a friend."

"A friend?" Jade asked raising an eyebrow "He doesn't have any friends."

Mary let out a nervous laugh "Well maybe he does have friends but doesn't tell you about them?" loud banging on the door interrupted their small conversation. Mary got up from where she sat rather quickly and left the room.

She seemed relieved to leave the conversation. Jade felt as thought she'd have to ask another time.

"Where is she!"

"Cora, lower your voice young lady!" Mary exclaimed.

Something about the name made her think that she had heard it from somewhere before but she couldn't put her finger on it.

When suddenly it clicked

The memories came flashing before her eyes.

Jade snapped out of her thoughts and before she knew it she was standing in the hallway — just across the front door.

Mary was covering most of the view, but as soon as she sensed Jade behind her, she moved to the side to reveal a girl who looked around the same age as Jade with dark blonde hair and Hazel eyes.

The unnamed girl wore a black tank top with cargo pants and black combat boots — The Division uniform. It looked exactly as she has remembered it.

"Jade?" she whispered, tears gathering in her eyes.

"Cora?" Jade voiced — taking a step forward

Without a second to waste she ran towards her and brought her into a big hug before stepping back "Where have you been?"

"Around," Jade replied sheepishly.

Cora hit her in the arm making Jade wince slightly "You deserve it. You left 14 year-old me alone and wondering what the hell she did wrong to make her best friend leave!"

Jade felt the familiar emotion of guilt settle in "I'm sorry, I know I owe an explanation, you have every right to ha-"

Cora sighed "how about we sit down and just start from the beginning?"

"that works too..." Jade smiled.

"Get to the point." Tanner spat coldly.

Upon research he found that a man Nixon, who was a hard man to hunt down, was a close friend of his mother and father's.

"I'm saying this is something your mother tried to hide." Nixon sipped from his coffee. The last thing he expected was a an overgrown brat knocking down his door at ass o'clock in the morning "Being her kind, it held responsibility...your mother just wanted to be normal which is why she hid it from the both of you"

"You've got to be kidding me," Tanner snapped "Is that honestly all you can possibly tell me?'' it seemed like all his efforts were in vain and he was running on borrowed time.

Nixon sighed "look kid-"

"Tanner" he hissed between his teeth "My name is Tanner."

Nixon let out a nostalgic smile making him even more irritated "I'm sorry it's just that you remind me so much of your father..."

Tanner's eyes softened a fraction before gaining his hard exterior. If Nixon hadn't spent the best of his younger years being his father's best friend he would've missed it. The moments of softness reserved only for just that. A moment. "look old man, I just need answers. I have someone important to me that depends on them. I can't leave without something"

Nixon recognised the hard headed tone. Tanner wasn't going to give up and he found himself wanting to help, even if it was just a little bit "You want answers?" Tanner just glared at him in return "give me that pen and paper."

He gave Nixon a curious look but nonetheless grabbed a piece of paper and a pen from the bench next to him and handed it over.

Nixon continued to scribble something down.

Tanner waited a moment before he gave him the note back "That, Tanner, is all I can give you. Your best chance at getting answers is with her. I can't promise anything but I can give you a chance. Other than that, I'm sorry theres nothing I can give you."

Another ten minutes later Tanner walked out of the office room and stood outside in the cold.

He sucked in the air. A chance. He came all the way here for a chance.

Still. It was better than nothing.

Slowly he opened the page. One single thing was written. To be specific — a name and address. To gain answers, he needed to ask more questions. He didn't like how deep he was digging but what kept smart men safe was knowledge and he needed as much as he could get.
