Each person in my squad had the same tattoo, on the back of their necks was a half trident, three lines across to signal the three warrior sectors, and an eye to signal the ruler at the time, which was the queen. The summer course went by very quickly and only took her squad half a summer to complete, meaning she could return home early. Upon returning home, and being out of the water I felt stronger and I felt like I had more confidence in my powers as a mermaid. Mom was ecstatic I returned home early and was proud I chose a warrior path, she showed her own tattoo which was on her pointer finger of a stingray in the form of whisps, she had gone that path of an international speaker which had led her to land and dad. I was happy to see Jacob, but I wanted to stop by the Cullen's house first and congratulate Bella and Edward on getting married. When I got there I knew the whole family felt a change in my stance, I hugged Edward and smiled, and embraced Bella who gushed at finally being able to see me again, asking me how my trip was.
"My trip was so fulfilling, I learned so much and I'm stronger now than I ever was before."
"I'm so happy for you, and I'm happy your back, maybe you entertain Jacob a bit"
"What is he getting bored and on your nerves?"
She looked down for a bit
"What, What is it, what happened to jacob?"
"Nothing, nothing... I just wanted to let you know he-he kissed me while you were away"
"..."
She took my shock and embraced me again saying sorry over and over, the Cullen's looked around awkwardly
"It's okay Bella, I know you would've never kissed him back"
"Actually they kissed twice, once him, once Bella"
Edward chimed in, Bella giving him a stink eye
"Oh. I guess imprinting really means nothing"
"Oh my gosh Jacob imprinted on you?"
Bella suddenly gushed so much more and said her sorry's all over again, while Edward actually looked ticked off
"Maybe I outta go drown him for a bit"
"What?!"
Bella sounded so surprised and suddenly both Emmet and Edward were snickering, thinking about Jacob being drowned by his imprint for kissing another girl
"Really Bella it's okay, I hope I get invited to the wedding"
I smiled and said my goodbyes, getting a few 'good luck's from Emmet and Edward...still snickering. I made it all the way to the pack house holding my anger in tact. Sams imprint was nice enough to give me some sausages that she was making for the guy's lunch. I leaned on a table and watched all the guys walk in and look at be before shrugging, knowing I was here for Jacob. Once he entered his eyes went straight to me and he smiled, going in for a hug but I held up my hand and stopped his chest from coming any further.
"So what's this I hear about you kissing Bella? Twice."
I finally looked at him in the eyes, and he knew he was in trouble. All the guys gawked, not fully understanding that was what had happened between them all were too focused on the fight that had been the hype at the time. I narrowed my eyes at jacob and lifted my hand to the top of his head, gently pressing my ring finger to his skull which allowed me to access his feelings and his thought process at the time. Once I was there and done I nodded.
"I see"
I knew my eyes flashed an ocean blue and I left the pack house. Jacob quickly followed suit and followed me all the way to the cliff, where surprisingly, Edward was waiting. Not that jacob knew that yet, Edward was hiding, no doubt gotten a vision on Jacob about me. The only indirect way to see into my future. Jacob finally caught onto my wrist and pulled me to his chest, lifting my head up with his hand.
"I can't believe you bypassed the imprint by thinking the thing I needed was only a friend. Just to kiss Bella"
"I'm sorry, I didn't think you would ever find out"
"That's the thing about secrets though isn't it, the person you don't want finding out finds out. I thought we could be happy together, but you're only thinking about yourself."
"No, I gave up on Bella, their getting married I told her when she chose Edward"
"When she chose Edward? You mean you completely forgot I was your girl and was batting for Bella? What am I sushi?"
"No you're not sushi"
He got quiet now, and I could tell the imprint had backlashed on him and now was causing him physical pain. I sighed, I didn't want him in pain, I wanted him to be smart.
"Why can't you just love and accept me, you've been pushing me away since I knew you. I had to kiss you while I was drunk to get you to finally date me! Then Bella comes in and everyone's so interested!"
He looked down, like a puppy getting in trouble for peeing on the floor when he knows better, I walked to him and took his hands
"You imprinted on me, does that mean nothing to you?"
He looked like he was about to cry from the pain and sorrow, we touched foreheads and I knew it was soothing his pain by being close to me.
"It means the world to me, you're my world"
"Then act like it"
I tossed his hands away and tossed him my bracelet, which he caught. He was looking down and ashamed when I started running to the cliff, but Edward stopped me to my surprise.
"Edward??"
Jacob looked up and alert when he heard me and started growling.
"Let her go"
"I'm not letting her jump off this cliff, Bella did and nearly died! Don't you care about her?"
"Of course he cares about me you idiot, I'm not going to get a single scratch at least jacob knows when to trust me"
Hurt by words Edward let go and I jumped off into the water, heading back to my squads training grounds. Nobody was there as we were just let off but my trainer, I asked for extra lessons on summoning my triton and wielding nonexistent waves. She gladly complied.
