I was chilling on the couch, scrolling through my twitter when I saw a picture of Jacob and Helen together.. I was highly confused. Didn't he just say he couldn't stand that bitch? The fuck is going on? You know what.. Autumn, calm down.. It's his life, he can do what he wants. I took in a deep breath as my phone began to buzz. It was Jacob.. Shit.. What does he want?

Autumn: Hey J..

Jacob: Hey beautiful.

I smiled and then it faded.

Autumn: What's up?

Jacob: I just wanted to know if you wanted to hang out today.

Autumn: When?

Jacob: How does right now sound?

Autumn: I.. I mean, I guess..

Jacob: Good, cause I'm pullin' up right now.

I groaned.

Autumn: Jacob!

Jacob: Love You too. See you soon.

He hung up as he pulled up and I ran upstairs. I grabbed a bunch of clothes and then ran back downstairs then opened the door.

Autumn: Pick one. They're on the couch.

He chuckled as he walked in.

Jacob: Nothing too formal, but it's not casual either. In other words, just keep it simple.

I nodded and then chose an outfit to wear. It was nice. A simple white shirt with slacks and a nice grey jacket to go with it.

Autumn: If I wear heals, will I regret it?

He gave me a half nod with a grin before turning it into a shrug and I sighed.

Autumn: Fine.

Jacob: Hey, you look beautiful either way.

I glared at him as I slipped on a pair of gold flats.

Autumn: Shut up.

Jacob: What bit you in the ass?

Autumn: None ya.

He just kept grinning at me.

Jacob: Okay.

Autumn: What you grinnin' fo?

Jacob: No reason is necessary.

Autumn: You sure about that?

Jacob: Positive.

Autumn: You bring the baby with you?

Jacob: Nah. She wit her ma.

Autumn: Oh, you finally got a hold of her?

Jacob: Uh.. You could say that..

Autumn: What do you mean?

Jacob: I uh.. I'll tell you later.

I eyed him as I stood upright with my hands on my hips. He hooked arms with me and looked at me with a grin.

Jacob: Come on little lady. Imma take you somewhere magical.

His eyebrows danced when he said magical. That just made me suspicious. When I got in the car, he pulled off and then I got even more suspicious.

Jacob: You know we have the whole night to ourselves, right?

Autumn: Jacob-.

Jacob: Autumn, relax. There's nothing to be scared of.

An hour later, we had reached our destination. I was slightly confused because it was quiet.. Too quiet.. He took my hand and lead me inside. It was very dark inside the building until he flipped a switch. Then my eyes lit up with the world as I gazed at my surroundings. It was beautiful! Lights everywhere, a speaker system and uncooked.. Wait a minute.. Uncooked food? I walked over to the food and there was an over behind it.

Jacob: Uh.. Yeah.. About that.. Since I didn't have enough money to get entrées.. So I figured, why not be creative and let us cook together.. Or me for her.. Whichever you prefer.

I smiled.

Autumn: Very thoughtful of you but.. Why?

Jacob: I realized that since you never went to prom and I treated you bad, and on top of that, you helped me raise my daughter, I figured that I should do something nice for you.

Autumn: For once.

I teased and he chuckled as he rubbed the back of his neck.

Jacob: Yeah.. So, um.. You wanna dance?

Autumn: I'd love to.

I smiled as he took my hand and we began to dance.

Jacob: Autumn.. I want to apologize to you.. For everything.

Autumn: It's alright.

Jacob: No it's not.

Autumn: Listen to me Jacob. It is and I have a good reason why it is.

Jacob: Tell me, then.

Autumn: Because you showed me what type of man not to fall in love with.

Jacob: And you showed me the type of woman I should look for and appreciate.. Autumn.. You taught me how to fall in love. That it was okay to trust someone else with how I felt about the world and her.

I don't what happened.. I just got caught up in the moment with everything.. His words, his voice, the lighting.. His everything.. I just wanted to be that again.. His everything. But then Trevor popped into my head and I pulled back.

Autumn: We can't.. We can't do this.

I shook my head as I took a few steps away from him.

Autumn: As much as I want to, we can't..

Jacob: Can't what?

I thought long and hard about what I was about to say.. Then it came to me.. I never did say that Trevor and I were official again.. But I also never said that we weren't.. Ugh! Why is this so hard?

Autumn: You know what.. Nevermind. Let's just..

I pointed to the mini kitchen and went to prepare the chicken and rice that he had bought.

Jacob: I'll chop the onions to save you some tears.

I laughed at that pun. I had never smiled so much with Jacob.. There has to be something different going on with him. When I put the chicken in the oven and started on the rice, I asked him.

Autumn: So.. Did anything new happen since..?

I trailed off. I didn't want to upset him about the results that came back.

Jacob: Yeah.. I um.. I decided to try and be apart of Alaina's life so that she doesn't end up fatherless or like Helen.

He gave me a look which reminded me of the picture I saw.

Autumn: So what's up with Helen?

Jacob: What about Helen?

Autumn: I mean, I saw your Instagram pic.. So does that mean you're on good terms or you just in yo feelin's?

He chuckled before scratching the back of his head.

Jacob: Yeah.. We-we're on good terms.

Autumn: Wow.. How'd that happen?

I could feel the amount of discomfort in the room hit me all at once.

Jacob: I saw her at Red Lobster and McDonald's. She's working two jobs and very tired, so I-.

He stopped himself and shook his head.

Autumn: What is it?

I smiled in confusion. I had never been so interested to hear what Jacob had to say in my life before this moment.

Jacob: I.. It's not that important. Besides, I don't wanna spoil your good mood. I rarely get to see you smile nowadays.

He pinched my cheek lightly before smiling. I put his hand down on the counter and stared at him.

Autumn: Come on J.. It can't be that bad..

He looked down and then sighed before nodding.

Jacob: The last time I went to go see Helen.. I proposed..
