~Trevor~

Eventually, school had started for me and this year I had declared a major. Which was a great moment for my mom when I told her that I'd be majoring in the arts and business. I haven't been able to tell Autumn about me starting college because I haven't gotten the chance to.. And also, every time I call, she doesn't answer. Sometimes it goes straight to voicemail. I sighed as I tried to leave another message for her on her voicemail.

"Hey, this is Autumn. You know what to do when you hear the beep. Much love to ya and stay blessed!"

Beeeeeeep!

Trevor: Hey babe. This is me again. I'm just try'na check in on you. When you call back, I have something to tell you. I guess I'll see you tonight after I get things done.

I shrugged as I looked around the campus.

Trevor: Alright.. I Love You. Bye.

I sighed as I walked through the halls, trying to find my first class. I asked around where my class was and one girl helped me. Once I found my class, I took a seat in the front and introduced myself to the professor.

Trevor: Good morning, sir. My name is Trevor Jackson.

He shook my hand.

Professor: Mr. Jackson. It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Mr. Patel.

Trevor: Pleasures all mine.

Professor: You may be seated and we will begin.

Trevor: Yes sir. Thank you.

I took my seat and pulled out my supplies for this course. I heard a familiar voice and looked up.

Trevor: Courtney?

She turned her head and a smile appeared on her face.

Courtney: Hey.. Trevor? It's been a long time, how are you?

Trevor: I'm doing great, how about yourself?

Courtney: I'm fine. How's your grandmother doing?

Trevor: She's still on the sick side but she's spewing scriptures when in her right mind.

Courtney: That's good to hear. So. Ironically you chose this college and this course too?

Trevor: Yeah. I guess so.

I shrugged.

Courtney: Well. I guess we're bound to be acting partners, huh?

I shrugged again.

Trevor: I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Courtney: Yeah, I guess so.

She turned her attention back to the front of the room as I sat back, thinking about her. After class, I went over to Chik-fil-a and ordered a quick lunch to go. Then I went over to Wendy's for their vanilla frosty. Those things are angels in a cup. I checked my phone to see if Autumn had called back at all or even sent a text, but she hasn't done either one. With a sigh, I made my order and turned around just as Courtney was walking in the door. My lips curled into a small grin before shaking my head and trying to escape the restaurant unnoticed.

Courtney: Funny seeing you here.

Trevor: Hey. Same class, same campus, same taste in food. What can I say?

I shrugged as I left with the nice feeling to hear her laughing again. That's something that I haven't heard in a long time..

~Autumn~

Autumn: Ugh! Where the hell is it?

I groaned as I called my cell phone again. I didn't hear anything this time, so I knew that it was dead and I was doomed. Trevor and Nicole have probably called me a million times these past few days. They probably think that I'm dead! Which, obviously I'm not. I lost it the last time Trevor came over. Damn me and my irresponsible ways with my phone! Ugh! I searched the bedroom again, then the bathroom, the living room and lastly the kitchen. Nothing, nothing, nothing! I was about to throw a fit when something told me to look in my closet.. But why would it be in the closet? When I looked in there, I saw a note and a plate in there.

Just in case you forget,

I was very confused but I decided to play his game. I know that I get my plates from the kitchen and the last place I remember seeing my phone is on my nightstand, but it's not in my room.. Ugh.. I looked in the compartment of my car to find another note.

The refrigerator! Either that or the cabinet.. So I went to investigate the fridge and found a bottle of red juice with a note attached to it.

Must be cranberry.. I shrugged and began to drink it as I I made my way over to the cabinets. I opened it and found yet another clue! Who the hell has the time to do all of this?

I kept looking at the note until I realized that the drink was gone. I groaned because that was a really good drink.. But when I went to go put it in the sink, I heard a noise from it. I opened the cup and looked inside. There was a note in a plastic bag and something heavy in there with it. I read the note.

Autumn,
I know you don't like it when I spoil you. But I can't help it. So I decided to let you play a game in order to get this gift. Love you! ~Trevor

I opened the bag and there were two earrings inside. This dude is the sweetest guy I know. I read the note again and then noticed an arrow. I turned the paper over and read the fine print.

By the way. In case you forgot.. You left your phone in the freezer for some odd experiment, I guess.. 😐

My eyes widened and I raced over to the freezer. Why the hell did I-? Oh wait. That's right.. I set it there while I was looking through the fridge for food that one morning. Ugh! I'm such a dumb nut! I didn't charge it right away because I didn't want to risk getting shocked. So I let it warm up to room temperature and then charged it. Once my phone turned back on, it wouldn't stop ringing. I mean, the notifications wouldn't stop popping up to the point where I couldn't even open my pone up for five minutes straight! I shook my head because I knew I fucked up. Over a million missed calls from Trevor and Nicole. One missed call from Jacob, Five thousand text messages from Nicole and ten texts from Trevor. Shit.. I listened to my voicemail box for the next few hours and then reviewed all my texts before deciding to call Jacob first. Only because he was the calmest out of all of them.

Jacob: Hey Autumn.

I heard a baby in the background.

Autumn: Hey.. Is that a baby?

Jacob: Yeah.. Apparently Helen hasn't lost the baby after all.. But I'm still getting a test just in case, with her hoe ass.

I laughed as I shook my head but then froze when I realized what he just said.

Jacob: But how are you?

I got silent which worried him.

Jacob: Autumn. You okay?

Autumn: Yeah. I'm fine. I was just thinking. What's the baby's name?

Jacob: I named her Alaina Makayla. But she ain't getting my name until I get the results to that test. I'm just watching her for the weekend until Helen comes back from her job.

I shook my head. What job lasts three days?

Jacob: But how are you doing?

Autumn: I'm doing fine. Just found my phone, actually.

Jacob: And I was the first person you called?

He said blandly.

Autumn: I'm going from calmest to the most wild. So, Trevor's next.

Jacob: Oh cool. Aww! Makayla!

He groaned as I head laughing in the background.

Jacob: Stop laughing! That ain't funny!

I could hear him beginning to smile.

Jacob: Better be glad you're cute.

My heart melted as I imagined him interacting with the baby. But I was hurt because I wanted to be the one.. But I'm kinda glad I'm not too.
