Leaving Raps
~Jacob~
I picked up my phone and scrolled through my Twitter. All I saw were pictures of Autumn and Trevor at some store that's full of clothes. I shrugged and sighed. The best thing I ever had is gone because I cheated with some stupid ass bitch. Why I always gotta fuck up shit? Why can't I just stay straight and treat a good one right? Why can't I be a good one? For once in my life, can't I do anything right?
I sighed and sat up in my bed. Chiko lifted his head and crawled over to me. I rubbed his head before getting up and heading downstairs. For some odd reason, my legs started acting crazy and I fell backwards down some of the steps, but I caught myself from a bad accident. No, I'm sorry.. Another bad accident.. Once I got myself together, I went into the kitchen.
I made you breakfast. Had to run to work. Love you! ~Mom
I nodded and looked down. Chiko was right there begging for food. I looked around the kitchen and found the dog food under the sink. After he.. Well, we ate, I took him out for a walk outside so that he could use the bathroom. Next thing I knew, a car had pulled up in my driveway and I was ready to kill somebody. I acted like I didn't care that some random car was in my driveway but in reality, I was try'na figure out how my skinny, crippled ass was gon fight a nigga in is heat. When the door opened, a man stepped out. He looked so familiar.. But why?
"Hey Jacob. You feeling any better?"
He said as he came towards me.
Jacob: Yeah.. I'm straight..
I nodded.
"You wanna somewhere?"
Jacob: Where?
"Your pick, as usual."
I couldn't avoid the question now. I just had to ask who this man was!
Jacob: Right.. And you are?
His smile faded.
"You don't remember me at all, do you?"
Jacob: Stating the obvious, but no.
I nodded, then shook my head.
Julius: I'm your father, Julius.
I looked at this man long and hard. I was looking for similarities in us to confirm his words and I saw it. I put my hand out.
Jacob: Nice.. Ma says that my brain is missing a few memories, but I'll be fine.
He nodded.
Julius: Cool. So let's go.
Hesitantly, I followed and got in the car. Once we got in, he asked me a few questions.
Julius: How'd everything go with Autumn?
I shook my head and sighed.
Jacob: I woke up to a new world of hate. She was right there with me and it all ended with finding out that she dates my homeboy.
Julius: Dang. Are you at least on good terms?
Jacob: Somewhat. We're patching the pieces back together to form a good friendship, but I think that's as far as it goes. I know I messed up, but I also know my boundaries.
Julius: I'm proud of you. Your level of maturity has definitely went up.
I looked at him and snapped.
Jacob: How the hell would you know? You weren't even there to begin with until.. How long's it been?
Come to think about it, I haven't been aware of the date since before I went to that hellhole. He sighed.
Julius: It's been two and a half months. I've been in your life for three months and three years.
I leaned back and nodded. Then the question that's been haughtiness me for years hit me.
Jacob: Why'd you leave, anyway?
Julius: I was young and I felt like I wasn't ready to settle down with a wife and child yet. I still wanted to have the nightlife and be able to come home to see your face. To watch you grow without actually paying for anything and that goes figuratively.
My eyes bulged.
Jacob: If you wanted to see me, why didn't you stay or at least come around every now and then?
Julius: Because I was a contamination to the family. I was hooked on drugs, a hard smoker and a heavy drinker who slept around and eventually went homeless. I couldn't remember where to find you until after I got clean. I've been clean for about two years now and that's a blessing.
I nodded.
Jacob: Honestly, I'm grateful for you coming back. It made me into a man. To see a man and listen to what he says is to become a man.
He smiled.
Julius: You ready to go?
Jacob: Yeah man. I'm feeling the weather today. What good spots you know?
He started the car and pulled out the driveway.
~Nicole~
Nicole: Diggy stop!
Diggy: Oh come on, now! Share!
Nicole: Never!
Diggy: Then I'll just have to tickle you some more, then.
He shrugged and I put my hands up.
Nicole: No, no! I'll do it! I'll do it!
He looked at me and sat down beside me. Once I calmed down, I sat up.
Diggy: I ain't bout to be suckered out of a rap that was promised to me.
Nicole: Promised? I said maybe later! Maybe!
Diggy: Whatever. I kept my promise to rap but only if you rap too.
I rolled my eyes.
Nicole: Fine, Diggy.
Hey, you
Just in this ride
It's real nice and slippery inside
Ride, slide, come get this pie
R-r-ride
Ride it inside
Said it a minute ago
Cause I did it a minute ago,
I drop it, I pick it up slow
If I want it, I kick in the door
Cause you know that I got that good shit,
I'm bad but I can be a good bitch
I looked over at him and he was silent, then grinned.
Diggy: Okay..
Nicole: Okay.. What?
Diggy: It's clear to see that you have talent, but your sexual approach is off.
Nicole: Shut up!
I said as I playfully hit his arm. He laughed and then nodded.
Diggy: But seriously, you are good.
Nicole: Well, thank you Diggy.
Diggy: You're welcome, beautiful.
I blushed and he pulled me close to him, keeping his arm wrapped around me.
Diggy: How would you like to make a mixtape?
