Drink To Forget (Part 2)
Read "Drink To Forget" before you read part 2 so that you have an idea of what's going on, please and thanks :)
After a few moments of silence, Marvin gently patted Chase on the shoulder. "Hey, do you need anyone to comfort you tonight?" He asked sympathetically.
"What do you mean?" Chase bit his lip and tilted his head to the side slightly. "I mean, do you need anyone to.. I dunno.. cuddle you? While you're asleep?" He smiled gently. Chase blushed lightly and giggled. "Are you sure you'd be comfortable with that?"
"Of course!!" Marvin exclaimed. "I wouldn't mind at all! Whatever makes you feel safe and happy!!" Chase smiled at his friend. "Thank you." He said quietly, almost whispering.
"Don't thank me," Marvin replied as he stood up and held out his hand. "Come on, it's late, we should get some sleep." He gestured his head towards the staircase.
Chase happily accepted Marvin's hand as he lead the both of them back to Chase's room, and Chase quickly jumped under the covers as he gestured for Marvin to join him. Marvin laughed softly and hopped into bed with him, wrapping his arm around Chase's waist and pulling him close so that his back was pressed up against Marvin's chest.
Chase quickly flipped himself around so that instead of his back being pressed up to Marvin's chest, he was facing him. He wrapped his arms around Marvin's torso as he buried his head in his chest.
"I hope you don't mind this." His voice was muffled by the other's shirt. Marvin smiled once again and stroked his hair gently. "Not at all."
With that, they both dozed off and eventually fell into a peaceful sleep.
------------
The next morning, Marvin woke up to his face buried in Chase's neck. He lifted his head up and smiled softly at the sight before him; Chase, looking content as he slept. He was glad that he decided to comfort Chase the previous night, by the looks of it it really helped Chase to calm down.
Marvin laid in bed for a few more hours, softly stroking Chase's hair, comforting him while waiting for him to wake up.
Eventually, Chase stirred a bit and slowly opened his eyes, rubbing them. "Morning, Marv." He groaned tiredly.
"Morning, Chase." Marvin softly replied. "How'd you sleep?"
"Great." Chase stretched his arms out. "Best I've slept in a while."
Marvin smiled brightly and pushed himself up, sitting upright. "Did cuddling help with that?" He asked.
"Yeah." Chase yawned. "Again, thanks".
Marvin waved his hand out in front of him. "Don't thank me!! Now come on, get up. We're gonna discuss last night with the other egos." He jumped out of bed. "Come down when you're ready, but make it soon." He requested. Chase nodded in response.
Marvin flashed another smile before leaving the room, heading downstairs.
"Hey guys." He greeted the other egos, pleasantly surprised to see that they were all up before him. Usually he was the first one up.
"Marvin! Why'd you sleep so late??" Henrik chirped.
"Uh, well, long story short, I was comforting Chase. All night." He leaned on his left leg and crossed his arms.
Everyone raised an eyebrow at him and stared at him as if he had just murdered an entire family of sheep.
"Can we get an explanation?" Anti asked, slightly intrigued.
"It's not what it sounds like," Marvin started, lifting his hands out in front of him. "He just needed some company last night. He's gonna explain that when he gets up." Marvin bit his lip.
"Is this about his depression?" Jack sympathetically asked. Marvin nodded. "It's more complex than that, but yeah."
Suddenly, Chase walked up beside Marvin, smiling. His hair was still a mess, sticking up in all directions.
"CHASE!!" Everyone cheered, and Marvin placed his hand on his upper back. Chase smiled tiredly. "Hey guys." He waved.
"Are you okay? Did something happen last night?" Jack hesitantly asked, locking eyes with him. Marvin looked to his side and raised his eyebrows at him, as if to signal for him to explain himself. Chase sighed and walked over to the egos, sitting on the ground. Marvin followed, sitting in front of the couch. Everyone started listening intently.
"Well... Uhh... Let me start from the beginning," Chase started, flashing a nervous smile. "You all know how I've been going through rough times ever since my wife left me and took the kids, right?" He asked. The egos nodded. "Well..," he continued. "Well, to start, my depression has skyrocketed since then. I was feeling super horrible, I couldn't feel happy at all. I doubted myself so much, and blamed the divorce all on myself," he bit his lip as he thought about the next part of the story. "I... Started to drink..," everyone silently gasped. Chase smiled awkwardly. "What I would do is, I would sneak out into the dining room late at night, usually at around midnight, and just drink away my problems. I would cry, drink, and just try to forget about everything. It didn't work, obviously. But... Last night... Marvin heard me. He heard me and came to check on me. He made me feel way better, and even offered to comfort me. So, we cuddled. All night, we stayed in each other's grasp. It really helped. I thank him for that." He finished his story, looking at Marvin and smiling brightly.
"Awww, Chase." Henrik said softly.
"We're always here for you if you need to talk, you know that right?" Anti chimed in. "You don't need to drink to forget your problems. Just ask any of us and we'd be more than happy to help you and just talk." Anti smiled sweetly. Jack raised an eyebrow at the demon.
"It might be weird going to Anti for advice, since he is a psychopath and all, but he's right. Any one of us will help you." Jack explained. "You don't have to be afraid to be open with us."
Chase smiled as he started to tear up. "You guys are the best, you know that?"
