Death Of A Detective
Detective Jack and Detective Anti. Two of the most famous detectives in history, who are also brothers. Some people call them an odd duo, just for the fact that Anti looks like a demon. Well, rephrase that. He is a demon. But he has never hurt anyone innocent; never. One good thing about him, though, was that he had mad knife skills that he taught Jack at a young age, you know, for self defense. It sure as hell comes in good use now. In total they'd uncovered about 6, 864 mysteries in the eight years they had been working. Most of which uncovered that someone had murdered someone.
Today, they had a challenge. Harder than anything they'd ever been called to do. It was said that someone had been brutally murdered in this giant mansion that had such a long name that neither of them bothered to remember, and the killer had left a bunch of deadly traps, a lot of which could kill you instantly if you stepped within ten feet of them.
Anti took a deep breath and stared at the elegant door presented in front of them. "You ready to do this, Jack?" He looked at Jack nervously. Jack shrugged and tilted his head to the side, breathing out quickly. "As ready as I'll ever be." He snuck a glance at Anti before looking back at the door. Anti placed his hand on Jack's back, making him jump a little. "It'll be fine Jack. No matter what happens, we will both leave this place alive." He smiled, making Jack calm down severely. "Okay." He smiled and nodded.
Anti slowly opened the door and they both stepped in, remembering to look out for any sharp or pointy objects, or even wires. "Okay, it's safe." Anti whispered, Jack replied with a little nod. Jack started searching around the maze of a house, shining his flashlight on every possible nook and cranny. "Jack! I think I found something!" He heard Anti call out to him. He shined his flashlight in his direction and squinted his eyes. "What is it?" Anti held up a piece of paper and signaled for Jack to join him. Jack rolled his eyes and jogged over.
"Oh? And that's all written in blood? Are you sure?" Jack asked, skeptical as to whether or not the threats on the sheet was just red lipstick or legitimately blood like Anti had said. Anti gave him the "are you serious?" look. "Do I look like the type of person who would mistake red lipstick for blood?" He gestured to the iconic bloody gash in his neck. "You're right, sorry." Jack sheepishly replied.
...
An hour had gone by and the duo had collected a fair amount of clues. One of which being a bloody knife, the biggest clue of them all so far. They were on the second to top floor and the traps were getting harder to avoid. Anti had almost got speared through the head if it wasn't for Jack pushing him out of the way last second.
"I have a bad vibe up here.." Jack stated nervously, squinting his eyes a slight bit and looking around the hallway. Anti didn't answer. Jack decided to step closer to Anti, but then heard a clicking noise. Anti then shot around to see Jack's face pale and his eyes wide. "JACK! WATCH OUT!" He shoved Jack to the ground, Anti stumbling backwards as a giant metal rod just barely missed them. "Probably should've warned you about that, huh?" Anti let out a breathy giggle. "Ya think??" Jack forcefully stated, fixing his cap. Anti twirled back around on his heel and reached for something. "What's this?"
Jack hopped over beside him and glared at it. Only true love can save you now.
"Only true love can save you now? What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Jack whispered, and Anti shook his head and shoved the note into his back pocket. "This cryptic shit is really starting to mess with my head, you know that? After this, we are taking a break, alright?" Anti shot Jack a glance for confirmation. Jack didn't hesitate to agree. "I need a break from this hell hole job."
"Top floor. Let's do this." Ant took a deep, shaky breath before wandering down the long hallway. Jack decided to split up with him and search some different rooms.
After a few moments, he had found a giant blood pool... followed by a dead body. He gasped and ran out to Anti.. well.. he was no where to be found.
Jack roamed around the halls looking for him, until he saw him in this really shady room. It was fairly small for this gargantuan building some might call a house. "ANTI!" he shouted, Anti shifted his foot to the side and looked behind him. "Oh Jack! There you are! Did you-" That's when Jack noticed it.
"ANTI MOVE!" Were the last words he said before he was pierced with a cold, sharp metal.
Jack stood there, motionless, blood dripping down his torso and legs creating a huge pool of blood. Tears dripped down his face. Anti gasped loudly and held Jack's shoulders tightly. He pushed the knife out of his stomach and Jack fell to the ground with a sickening thud. "Oh no! NO no no Jack what the hell did you do??" Anti rambled, his eyes never leaving Jack's body. "I.. saved you.." Jack replied weakly.
"Okay just take deep breaths.. Jack you'll be okay.."
"JUST TAKE DEEP BREATHS?? ANTI IT FEELS LIKE MY INSIDES ARE BEING RIPPED OUT!!" Jack managed to yell before releasing a choking noise.
Anti stood up and frantically searched around for something that would save Jack.
But he just couldn't.
He headed back to the room Jack had been stabbed in, to see his brother's lifeless body.
"Jack please no! You can't do this!" Anti ran over to him and checked his pulse. No pulse.
No breath.
Tears pricked Anti's eyes as he bit his lip. "I never even got to say 'I love you'.." He whimpered, warm tears now falling down his face and landing on Jack's shirt.
That's when it hit him.
Only true love can save you now.
