Chase's Divorce (Part 2)
Chase lie unconscious on the warm, soft floor of his office building. Blood spilled from the side of his head and stained the grey carpet below him. His cap was a good three feet from his head and had a little bit of blood splattered on it from the initial impact of the strong bullet.
Jack was looking for Chase. He had to ask him something but couldn't find him anywhere. He wasn't at his house, he wasn't at the nearby park, he wasn't hanging out in the forest across from Jack's house like he likes to do every so often, he wasn't even hanging out with any of the other egos. Jack had been searching for an hour, and finally decided to look at the one place he hadn't yet. "Guess he's at his workplace." He shrugged. "I always hated that place.." He quickly threw his shoes on, locked the door and jogged over to Chase's office.
Once Jack arrived, he the first thing he noticed was that the lights were on. He smiled to himself. "Finally!" He opened the already unlocked door and stepped in. "Chase?" He called out. No answer. "C-Chase?" He said a bit louder. "Y-you okay buddy?" The silence continued. It was so dull and quiet that Jack could've sworn he saw a tumbleweed roll passed him. Jack got a little worried but didn't let that take over him just yet, so he continued on and wandered through the medium sized building, looking for his buddy. Unaware of the events that had just went down.
...
"CHASE?!?" Jack yelled as he jumped backwards and covered his mouth with his warm, trembling hands. He had found Chase, just not in the state he wanted to. "Is he.. Dead?" Jack said quietly to himself, his entire body now trembling under him, threatening to collapse at any moment. He knelt down to feel Chase's pulse. He reached one hand to his neck while the other gripped his hand so tight the blood circulation was getting cut off
"N-no! He's not dead he's.. he can't be dead! He's.. he's not dead!!" Jack cried, his face turning bright red as tears flowed from his eyes and stained his cheeks. "Please Chase.. you.. you can't die on me now.."
Then, Jack saw the gun in Chase's other hand. He gasped and shakily reached over his friend's lifeless body and grasped it in his own palm. "Is.. is that what you've done? Have you... Chase.." Jack couldn't form words now. He was choking through his sobs.
Jack slowly slid his hands away from Chase and dropped the gun, letting it hit to the ground with a quiet thud. He took his phone out of his back pocket, his gaze never leaving Chase. He called his good friend Henrik, who happened to be a highly trained doctor, known as Dr. Schneeplestein.
Jack was breathing heavily and unsteadily as he waited for Henrik to pick up. As soon as he did, he could notice that Jack was acting unusual. "Vhat's wrong Jack? Are you okay??" He asked, concerned. Jack bit his lip and squinted his eyes a bit. "N-no.." He stuttered. "Vhat happened??" Henrik asked quickly, scared for his friend now. "I-it's Chase he's.. unconscious.." Jack replied, his voice getting quieter with every word he spoke. "Does he have a pulse?" Henrik asked. "I.. can't tell. Are you in today?" "No.. but I can work something out." Henrik sighed. "Vhere are you?" "At Chase's workplace." "Alright.. I'll be there in a few minutes. Just stay calm and take deep breaths, Jack." Jack nodded even though Henrik couldn't see him. "Okay."
He hung up and sighed as he placed his hand on Chase's cold abdomen. "It'll be okay Chase.." He said softly, trying to remind himself more than anything.
...
Jack sat nervously outside the hospital room, back against the door, tapping his fingers on his knees, twiddling his thumbs, biting his nails, tapping his feet, only to have it echo throughout the empty corridor, not hearing a single sound erupt from the room Henrik had brought Chase to. He had a faint trace of tears on his face from crying so much. Every once in a while he would feel a hot tear roll down his bright pink cheeks, he couldn't lose his best friend, not now. He was one of the only people who really understood him besides Mark and Felix,
Jack took a deep sigh before closing his eyes and resting his head on the wooden door, finally feeling a little bit calm for the first time in hours. "It's gonna be okay Jack.. he's gonna be fine.. he's gonna-" Jack was cut off by the door being opened. Jack jumped as his eyes jolted open and he turned around quickly. "Henrik? I-is he g-gonna be ok-ay?" His voice cracked every so often. Henrik sighed. "Follow me.. Jack."
Jack quickly stood up and followed him to the lobby.
"I'm so sorry Jack.. but.. he's gone.."
