A Blast To The Past
"- And your parents verbally abused you as a kid and you became super depressed at the age of thirteen. You didn't have any friends at school and you would get bullied and beat up every day. You were really good at math, history and English, and graduated high school with flying colours even though it took many, many mental breakdowns and self doubt to get there. Yeah, I know what your childhood was like." Marvin finished off his story as he crossed his arms and glared at Chase, who was baffled by what his friend had just described.
Chase had never really been open about his childhood with anyone, maybe only Jack. Even then, he only shared tiny bits of it. He had never gone into as much detail as Marvin just did.
"I'm a little bit... scared?" Chase questioned himself. "How the bloody hell did you know that? I've never been that open with ANYBODY about my childhood!!" Chase exclaimed as he stepped closer to Marvin, tilting his head in confusion.
Marvin sighed heavily and dropped his arms to his sides, looking down at his feet, shuffling them awkwardly. "Promise you won't tell anyone else?"
Chase raised an eyebrow and placed his fingers underneath Marvin's chin, forcing him to look at him. "If you have some amazing power, I want the other egos to know."
"Fine." Marvin huffed, crossing his arms slightly and rubbing his upper arms. Chase's face lit up in excitement. "Go on, I'm listening!"
Marvin smiled sheepishly at him as he started. "Well, to start it off, I have the ability to see people's entire pasts just by looking at them."
Chase gasped. "No way!!" He exclaimed, becoming more and more intrigued in his friend's story.
"Yes way," Marvin nodded. "It all started when I was ten years old. I was dragged along to a family gathering to have a huge barbecue. There were other kids my age there too, so I just hung out with them for most of the time," Marvin shrugged. "Keep in mind I didn't know a lot of people there. A lot of them, while they were family, were complete strangers to me since I had never seen any of them in my entire life. As we were eating, my Aunt Celine was describing her past relationships and the troubles she's had with them," He continued. "She was talking about one of her boyfriends whose name was Damian, and she was describing how he was abusive," he paused for a moment. "All of the sudden, I felt something change in me. I was struck with a load of knowledge from her past; from the day she was born up until present day. So, before she could even finish her story, little Marvin piped in, "And your boyfriend stole a lot from you. One day while you were out shopping he stole your purse and threw it into a fire, with everything still in it. Like your wallet." Everyone stared at me in shock and a little bit of horror. I had never met my aunt Celine before that moment, and my parents had never talked about her, so I had no reason to know any of that. Especially at such a young age. Needless to say, my cousins were so fascinated by this so they started asking me about their pasts," Marvin laughed. "Even though they didn't have much of one just yet. After that day, I started testing out my power by staring at random strangers on the street for a few seconds, and was super hyped to have this new power. I felt like a superhero." He laughed again. "So, yeah. That's the story about how I found out I had the ability to know anybody's past just by looking at them." Marvin finished his story.
Chase stared at him in awe as he processed Marvin's story. It was so baffling to him. "That's fucking amazing!! Jesus, you could call out so many people for lying about their pasts.. And... And..." He said quickly, getting a little bit too excited.
"Calm down, Chase. It's not that cool." He shrugged. "It's just a neat little power I have. It's fun, but I don't use it for very serious matters." Marvin shrugged again. Chase took a few deep breaths and calmed down.
"Sorry." Chase apologized. "It just kinda scared me when you just basically recited my entire past." He admitted, smiling sheepishly.
"Just don't tell Anti and Dark.. They'll kill me if they find out that I know their pasts." Marvin bit his lip nervously.
"Why?" Chase asked.
"Because they don't want anyone knowing what they've gone through! They want to sound tough, and me leaking what their childhoods were like would ruin them. They would kill me on the spot." Marvin took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his thick hair. "It's just too complicated."
Chase opened his mouth to speak, but was quickly interrupted by Henrik entering the room.
"Hey! What are we talking about in here?" He asked as he walked over to the other two men.
Chase glanced to Marvin and raised an eyebrow at him, as if to ask if he was going to reveal his power to Henrik or not.
Marvin nervously glanced at Chase, and Chase nodded his head. "It's fine! Your power is super fucking cool!!"
Henrik's eyes widened. "You have a POWER?!"
Marvin lightly sighed and nodded. "Yup. I have the ability to know somebody's entire past just by looking at them for a few seconds."
Henrik gasped in amazement. "No way!! That's like... So amazing!!"
"That's what I said!" Chase chimed in. "See Marv, I told you it would be fine."
"Well, can I hear the backstory behind it?" Henrik asked eagerly.
Marvin sighed heavily but nodded, smiling afterwards. "Well, it all started when..."
