Jack's POV

The next day we found out the mandrake have fully matured. Everyone would be unpetrified tonight. I went with the others to the hospital wing to tell Hermione. As I held her hand I felt a piece of parchment scrunched up inside it. I took it out and called the other two over. I read the page aloud:

"Of the many fearsome beasts and monsters that roam our land, there is none more curious or more deadly than the Basilisk, known also as the King of Serpents. This snake, which may reach gigantic size, and live many hundreds of years, is born from a chicken's egg, hatched beneath a toad. Its methods of killing are most wondrous, for aside from its deadly and venomous fangs, the Basilisk has a murderous stare, and all who are fixed with the beam of its eye shall suffer instant death. Spiders flee before the Basilisk, for it is their mortal enemy, and the Basilisk flees only from the crowing of the rooster, which is fatal to it."

We figured out how all the victims saw a reflection of the Basilisk's eyes including Mrs Norris. "That's why someone killed Hagrid's roosters" I add. "This is why you can hear it speak Harry, it's a giant snake" I state.

"But it's a dirty great snake, someone would of seen it wondering the halls. How has it been getting around?" Ron asks.

"Hermione, answered that as well" Harry states pointing at the bottom on the page. It was one word written in Hermione's handing writing. It said 'Pipes'. We also figured out Moaning Myrtle must of been the girl that died fifty years ago in the bathroom. We then decide to go tell McGonagall in the staff room as it was almost time for break. However, the bell never went. Instead Professor McGonagall's voice is projected around the whole school.

"All students are to return to their dormitories at once. All teachers return to the staff room immediately, please" she instructs. We'd just reached the staff room and decide to hide. So that we can listen into the meeting. We hide in the wardrobe together. All the teachers arrived and McGonagall starts the meeting.

"As you can see, the Heir of Slytherin has left another message. Our worst fear has been realized. A student has been taken by the monster into the Chamber itself! The students must be sent home. I'm afraid this is the end of Hogwarts" she states.

"How can you be sure Minerva?" Madame Pomfrey asks.

"The heir of Slytherin left an other message under the first one. It said 'her skeleton will lay in the chamber forever'" Minerva explains. Just then Lockhart enters the room yawning.

"So sorry. Dozed off. What have I missed?" he asks.

"A girl has been snatched by the monster, Lockhart. Your moment has come at last" Professor Snape tells him.

"My moment?" Lockhart asks confused.

"Weren't you saying just last night that you've known all along where the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets is?" Snape asks. But Lockhart does not answer.

"That's settled. We'll leave you to deal with the monster, Gilderoy. Your skills, after all, are legend" McGonagall says.

"Very well. I'll just be in my office getting... getting ready" Lockhart says before leaving the room.

"Right he's gone, heads of house go to the dorms and tell the students what has happened. Tell them the express will arrive tomorrow to take them home. Everyone else search the school in pairs, make sure none of the students are out of their dorms" McGonagall instructs.

"Who is it the monster has taken Minerva?" Madame Pomfrey asks and everyone looks at her.

"Ginny Weasley" she answers and they all leave.

"Don't worry Ron, we'll save your sister" I assure him.

"Lockhart maybe useless, but if he is going to try get into the chamber. We should tell him what we know" Harry states. We agree and head for his office. When we got there we saw him packing and disarm him. After we found out he was a fraud all along. We then lead him to Myrtle's bathroom. She tells us how she died fifty years ago pointing to a sink.

I try turning the tap on, but it didn't work. Myrtle states it never worked and I notice a small serpent engraved into it. "This is it, the entrance we found it" I tell them.

"Harry say something in parseltongue" Ron instructs. Harry does so after a couple of tries and the sinks begin to move. Soon a giant hole appears in the floor and we send Lockhart down first. I then follow with the other two.

"Remember any sign of movement close your eyes straight away" Harry tells us. We soon come across a giant snake skin. Lockhart pretends to faint and steals Ron's wand. He tried to obliviate us, but the spell back fires. I push Harry out of the way as the ceiling collapses. I jumped out of the way in time.

"Harry, are you alright?" Ron calls after helping me up.

"I'm fine, are you and Jack ok?" Harry asks.

"We're fine Harry" I assure him. Lockhart wakes up with no memory of anything. Ron wakes him in the head with a rock, knocking him out.

"What do we do now?" Ron asks.

"You try clear these rocks so we can get back through. I'll go find Ginny" Harry states.

"Be-careful Harry" I tell him. "Ron you move the rocks., get Lockhart to help you when he wakes. I have to help Harry" I state.

"How? We're stuck here" he states.

"I have a strong bond with Harry, allowing me to see things through his eyes. Guide him by using thoughts" I state. "Be quiet, I need to concentrate" I tell him as I sit down crossing my leg. Taking I deep breath I close my eyes thinking of Harry.
