Jack In The Box.

Hobi and Jimin walked in the door to the members dorm. Although they'd   had recent talks of everyone moving  out on their own, they'd quickly decided they didn't want to. They all wanted to continue to live together.

"Hobi hyung!!!!" Jungkook screamed as he ran and wrapped his hyung in a tight hug, lifting him into the air and spinning him in circles. "You were incredible!"

"Aish, I was alright," Hobi said humbly. He'd just gotten back with Jimin from the U.S. He performed songs from his new album 'Jack In The Box' at a music festival. The weeks leading up to his performance were tear filled and dreadful. He was absolutely terrified that nobody would show up, and to make it worse he was absolutely terrified of performing alone.

Performing alone was something he'd never done before. He spent hours upon hours practicing and had such bad anxiety he'd also lost a ton of weight from never being able to eat. When he got to the states, which he went without any of his members, he was anxiety-ridden until one day while he was crying in bed Jimin showed up at his hotel room door to surprise him.

"I told hyung right after he was done that he absolutely killed it!" Jimin smiled to the rest of the members who'd come over to wrap Hobi in a hug. He'd been gone for about a week and they missed him terribly. While he was away they had face-timed every day and watched his performance live. They couldn't have been more unbelievably proud of their sunshine for what he accomplished.

"How are we ever going to top that performance, Hobi?!" Jin said smiling.

"Ahhh, BTS concerts are way better than anything I could ever do alone!" Hobi smiled, "And I'm sure you'll all think of things way cooler than me."

The members pulled him to the couch and made him sit down as they bombarded him with questions about what the experience was like because they all knew eventually they'd be next. They all knew he was struggling before he had headed to the states, but were happy to hear how relieved he felt now that he had given a successful performance and could just relax at home.

"Don't forget you have an interview tomorrow too," Namjoon reminded him.

"Already? He just got back, talk about staying busy," said Taehyung.

"Ah yes, I do have one tomorrow. Aish. I just want to sleep," Hobi pouted.

"So what did you bring us?" Yoongi asked smiling. One of his favorite traits about Hobi was that he was an excellent shopper and had great taste in clothes. Which made him the perfect present giver. Jimin started laughing , "He brought us a lot!" Jimin ran over and grabbed one of Hobi's suitcases and opened it to an array of presents falling out. The members eyes grew wide at all the presents that lay before them. Hobi handed them out to everyone happily.

"You're the best, hyung!" Jungkook cheered.

After that, Hobi claimed he was extremely exhausted and wanted to go to bed. Everyone hugged him and kissed his head and sent him off to bed. It was pretty late so they decided to all call it a night too.

The next morning Hobi had to leave extremely early, before anyone else even woke up, to go do an interview for the promotion of his new solo album. He'd been to the broadcasting station plenty of times with his members and knew the hosts well so he wasn't at all worried. He felt like he could finally relax a bit with the album now that the hardest part was over. It wasn't going to be a live broadcast either, it'd be appearing on TV later that night.

When he got to the broadcasting station, tons of ARMY's were outside waiting for him and cheering for him. They were shouting how much they loved his album and how amazing his performance was. He couldn't have felt more grateful for the outpouring of love and support.

The interview quickly started and he was asked a million questions about his performance, his songs, their meanings, and some other random questions asked by fans.

"And for my last question," the interviewer started, "How did it feel doing this solo? You've been in BTS for a long time, what is it like for you to do it on your own now?"

Hobi gave his answer and with that the interview was over. He quickly got back to the dorm and met up to spend the day with his members.

"What time is your interview airing so we can watch it?" Yoongi asked. Even through their solo endeavors the members were extremely excited to support eachother in all they did. There was not an ounce of competition between them.

"In about an hour," Hobi chuckled, "Please don't laugh at me, I think some of my answers are kind of dumb."

Jin patted him on the back, "This should be funny."

After an hour everyone gathered in the living room to watch Hobi's latest interview. Taehyung grabbed snacks for everyone. Jimin and Jungkook curled up next to Hobi on the couch. The members had a great time watching when it finally got to the last question that Hobi was asked.

"And for my last question," the interviewer started, "How did it feel doing this solo? You've been in BTS for a long time, what is it like for you to do it on your own now?"

The members were extremely interested in his response. They'd talked about it many times amongst themselves but were curious to see what Hobi would say on a broadcasting.

"Well, I'd say it's been fun. Honestly doing it alone is a lot more freeing than doing it with the group. I prefer to be alone. I don't have to deal with them being annoying or bothering me. It's nice doing what I want. I'm starting to realize how much I don't need them."

Hobi's mouth dropped open. So did everyone else's. Jungkook accidentally spit out his soda.

It was silent for a moment. Hobi slowly turned his head. Namjoon was looking at him with his mouth open in shock before finally saying something. "......Oh?"

"That's not what I said! That's not what I told her!" Hobi yelled in a panic.

"What the fuck, Hobi?" Yoongi was staring at him angrily. Jungkook, Taehyung, and Jimin were staring at Hobi in a silent shock with extremely hurt eyes.

"So you don't need us?"Jin asked with a sad tone.

"No! I never said I didn't need you guys! None of that was real!" Hobi pleaded.

"It sounded pretty fucking real to me," replied Namjoon.

"You have to believe that's not what I responded with! They edited it! I swear! That's not the real footage!" Hobi screamed in desperation. He needed his members to believe him. He loved them all so much, he didn't understand why the news broadcasting changed what he said.

"So, is the title Jack In The Box really supposed to mean how you felt trapped with us or something?" Yoongi spat, "And now what? Jack is out of his fucking box?"

"Yoongi hyung please," Hobi was drenched in tears, "That footage isn't real. You have to believe me! You know I love all of you guys! I can't do anything without you guys! I don't know what happened!"

Jungkook angrily stood up, "We've been to that broadcasting station a million times, hyung, and not once have they ever edited or altered any of our interviews so they have no reason to do it to yours!"

"How could you say those things?" Taehyung had tears slowly falling down his cheeks. All of the members felt completely heartbroken after what they'd heard Hobi say on TV.

"I didn't say those things!" Hobi screamed, "Someone fucked with the footage! I talked about how much I love and need you all. How I need BTS. I didn't say whatever the hell that company just released!"

Jimin also stood up angrily and hovered over Hobi, "Oh someone fucked with the footage? Like we believe that? Nobody at that station ever fucks with the footage. You know what happened? You got a taste of freedom and now suddenly we don't matter anymore. You don't need us anymore because you can just go have it all on your own now!"

"Jimin that's not true!" Hobi stood up and the two best friends faced eachother. Hobi went to grab Jimin's arm but Jimin pulled away, "You know none of that is true." Hobi looked around at all of his members who he could clearly tell were all very saddened, "You guys have to believe me. Please. You really think I feel that way about this group? This group is my entire life, you guys know that! I'd never turn my back on any of you!"

"You probably just didn't expect them to release that part." Jungkook crossed his arms and bit his bottom lip to stop it from quivering. He felt like he'd just lost a hyung.

"Kookie that's not what happened!" Hobi cried. He didn't know what to do or say to get any of his members to believe him. He couldn't understand how they could assume he'd turn his back on them so easily. He would never do that. He loved his members more than life itself. How could they possibly think I'd ever want to abandon them or speak badly about them like that?!

Jimin gave Hobi an angry shove as he started sobbing harder, "I flew half way across the entire goddamn world for you!" he screamed, "To be there for you! To support you! To cheer you up because I knew you were feeling down! What a waste of fucking time!" Jimin stormed off to his room. The room that he and Hobi shared. They've been roommates for 12 years. Hobi followed him in a panic. Among all of them, it hurt the most seeing Jimin so upset. Jimin was his other half, his best friend, his person.

"And I needed you there!" Hobi cried after Jimin. The rest of the members followed the two into their room. Jimin started grabbing Hobi's stuff and throwing it into the hallway, "If you want nothing to do with us then you can go on ahead and move the hell out!"

The members didn't stop Jimin from throwing Hobi's things into the hallway. They almost supported it, because they were all just as angry.

"With all your new money going solo, I'm sure you can afford a really nice place. No need for us anymore, right?" Jin pouted. All these years raising him, and this is how he's felt.

"I'd give up all the damn money to my name if it meant you guys would believe that I'm telling the truth!" Hobi cried.

"You're just mad you got caught telling the truth!" Taehyung cried.

"It's not the truth! That's not the truth I gave! This isn't fair!" Hobi ran at Jimin and tried prying his stuff out of Jimin's hands that he was still throwing around.

"What isn't fair is what you've done. We've been through literally everything together. And you think we're just annoying and get in your way?" Namjoon frowned, "Have we ever been good enough for you?"

Hobi was exhausted. His emotions were just as out of control as everyone else's and he couldn't help but feel completely drained and defeated. He walked over to Namjoon and stared right into his eyes, "You have all always been everything I've ever needed. You've always been good enough. You've been better than just good enough. And I still need you all. I'm sorry you don't want to believe that."

"Oh stop the self pity and get the hell out, Hobi," Yoongi said harshly. Hobi turned to him with horror, "What?"

Jimin threw one of Hobi's shoes at him, "You heard hyung! He said get the hell out! Go be the great solo artist you want to be, but do it somewhere else!"

"No....Yoongi...please..." Hobi felt more anxiety and heartache shooting through his chest. Would his members really be so quick to kick him out like this? Over a complete misunderstanding?

Hobi desperately turned to Jin, "Please say something! Jin please! I have nowhere else to go! My home is here!"

"It doesn't seem like it is anymore, hyung." Jungkook looked to the floor and let his tears fall. He couldn't handle it anymore. These emotions were too much for him. Taehyung wrapped the maknae in a hug and placed his head on his shoulder.

"Maknae is right, if you don't like us, then this can't be your home," Taehyung cried.

Hobi kept looking at Jin. You're the oldest, tell them they can't kick me out! Tell them Jin! Protect me!

Jin saw Hobi staring at him and sighed, "You made this choice on your own. It's best you go."

"Hyung...no.." Hobi cried and frantically kept turning between everyone, "Guys please! It's me! It's Hobi! Jung Hoseok?! Hello?! I'm your hope, You're your hope?! The sunshine of the group?! I don't want to leave! I promise on everything in my soul that I didn't say anything like that in that interview! Call the damn company if you need to!"

Jimin ran at Hobi and shoved him. He was so full of anger towards his hyung and simply didn't know what to do with it anymore. "Just get the hell out!" he screamed. Jimin kept aggressively walking into Hobi and screaming at him to get out of the dorm. The members followed behind. Hobi begged and pleaded not to be kicked out but it was no use. He was at the front door and everyone opened it for him and guided him out. They slammed the door in his face and locked it.

Hobi dropped to the floor against the wall and sobbed into his knees.

My entire world gone. My entire everything, gone.

He quickly realized not only were his members upset, but what about ARMY? The broadcast was on TV. Meaning millions of people saw it. He went on WeVerse and Twitter to already see articles about BTS in conflict with him. Articles about him being a liar and pretending to love his members. Articles about him secretly hating BTS. Articles about him leaving BTS for good to only be a soloist.

None of this is true. I don't understand what happened!

He sobbed for a while until he decided to wander off. He didn't know where to go, and he didn't care. He would walk to the ends of the earth just to disappear if that's what he needed to do. His members didn't care or love him anymore, ARMY was mad at him. All of his hope had become hopeless. There was no sunshine left. Only rain.

The members were in the dorm still reeling with anger and broken hearts. They cried to eachother over what had happened.

"I can't believe we actually lost one of us," Namjoon cried. Seven had just become six.

Jimin's anger had turned to numbness. He felt like the entire past 12 years together with Hobi had been a lie. He stood there feeling a hollowness in his chest he didn't know was possible to feel. Like his heart had actually been ripped out and all that's left was a big hole.

Jungkook and Taehyung were still crying but also had nothing left to say. The members were startled when Namjoon's phone rang and their manager was calling.

"Hello?" Namjoon answered.

"Did you see the broadcast?"

"Yes. We saw the damn broadcast."

"It wasn't the real footage, Namjoon!"

Namjoon looked at his members with shock in his eyes and put the phone on speaker, "What do you mean it wasn't the real footage?"

"I called the broadcasting company. Someone who works behind the scenes took the real footage and edited it before broadcasting. I just needed to call you and let you know that please do not believe anything that was aired. They are about to release the video of his actual response to that last question. Don't worry about it. Just please don't be mad at Hobi and watch the video. It will be out in five minutes! Now I have to go deal with some legal matters over this!" Their manager hung up.

The members looked at eachother with their mouths dropped open in shock, once again.

Oh no.

"The footage was actually edited...? " Jimin asked nervously.

"We are about to find out," Yoongi said nervously. No way this is actually happening.

The members impatiently waited the five minutes for the real video to be aired for the public to see. They kept refreshing the internet page and it finally popped up. There was a description of how Hobi's last answer had been tampered with.

Jungkook hit play.

"And for my last question," the interviewer started, "How did it feel doing this solo? You've been in BTS for a long time, what is it like for you to do it on your own now?"

"Well, I'd say it's not been fun. Honestly doing it alone is a lot more terrifying than I could have ever imagined. Many people think being solo is more freeing, but for me, nothing is better than doing it with the group. I prefer to be around the six of them. It's scary to be alone. I don't have to deal with the pressure on my own when I'm with them. We carry the weight among all of us, and it makes the burden less heavy. They're all so precious to me. It's not like I ever have to deal with them being annoying or bothering me, because I love them and it just doesn't happen. It's nice doing things with them because I still get a say in what I want, we all do. I'm starting to realize how much I rely and depend on them. I don't plan on doing the whole solo thing forever, I need them."

By the end of it, all of the members were crying.

"Oh no.." Taehyung whispered, "Hobi hyung.."

The members looked at eachother in complete bafflement for a moment. Without a word they all did the exact same thing.

Ran to and out the door, desperately needing to find Hobi.

They all kept trying to call him but it kept ringing and ringing and ringing. Hobi was ignoring all of them.

"We're the worst! The worst!" Jungkook cried with tears full of guilt. They drove around the entire city looking for their missing piece.

"He told us the truth the whole time and none of us believed him. What the hell is wrong with us?!" Namjoon cried. The members cried over and over how absolutely terrible they all felt for how they'd reacted and what they had done. They were so incredibly worried. They knew now how broken-hearted Hobi must have been. Especially after hearing how much he truly did love and need them, which had always been the truth. And what had they done? Screamed at him and kicked him out.

They were driving around a park when they finally caught sight of Hobi sitting alone curled up on a park bench. They parked, got out and ran to him faster than lightning.

"Hobi hyung!" Jungkook screamed.

"HOBI!" Jin also screamed.

Hobi lifted his tear stained face out of his knees when he heard familiar voices calling his name. He was confused. Why are they here? Haven't they screamed at me enough?!

They all ran to him and immediately grabbed him into a tight hug.

Huh?

"We're so so sorry!" Yoongi cried.

"You were telling the truth the whole time!" Jimin cried as his tears fell onto Hobi's head, "We know what you really said! We know what you said, hyung! We're so sorry we didn't believe you!"

They kept going on and on about how incredibly sorry they were and how they never meant to be so terribly mean to him.

"You...you believe me?" Hobi asked. He felt a heavy weight in his chest slowly begin to lighten, "Why do you believe me now?"

"The real interview came out! The broadcasters admitted that someone in their team edited the footage!" informed Jin.

Hobi pouted, "I tried to tell you that, and nobody wanted to listen...You were all so quick to assume that I'd spoken badly about all of you.."

The members apologized even more.

"We should have never done that. We love and care about you so much, we should have believed you first before jumping to conclusions," Namjoon cried.

"Yeah, you should have." Hobi couldn't help but still feel hurt that his members were so quick to believe an absolute blatant lie.

"Even if you never forgive us, please come home. We need you home. Please come home hyungie," Jungkook pouted.

"So you're not all still mad at me?" Hobi asked.

"Of course not! Never! We should have never been in the first place! If anything we know it's you who should be mad at us!" Jimin cried, "But hyung...you're my eternal roommate. That means longer than forever. So I need you to come back."

Hobi smiled.

He instantly frowned again, "But ARMY...they think..." Namjoon cut him off, "Don't worry about what they think. They'll see the real broadcast video too. Our manager is working things out."

The members hugged Hobi tighter and continued to persuade him to get in the car and come home. He was happy to follow them. They got in the car and they kept going on and on about how much they loved him, how he probably wouldn't have been kicked out for long anyway because nobody, deep down, really wanted him gone. They pleaded for their own forgiveness.

Their manager called them again to inform them that the video had been edited by a new staff member who was an extreme solo anti and wanted to see Hobi face backlash. The members all sighed. They'd dealt with anti's before, but this was a scary one. Their manager let them know that legal action was already underway for what they'd done.

"I hope this never happens again," said Yoongi.

"I don't want to do any more interviews for a while," Hobi admitted. He'd rather do them with his members, just like they'd always done.

Jimin was resting his head on Hobi's shoulder while they were still in the car. They were silent for a while until Jungkook turned to Hobi.

"You're my Hope!" Jungkook giggled.

"I'm your Hope," Taehyung added.

Jin went next, "He's.."

Everyone waited for Hobi to reply.

"J-HOOOOOPE!"

The members all started laughing together.

"But I can't forget the last part either," Hobi said,

"I'm J-Hope, of BTS"

[The END]
