"What about him?" The girl asked, pointing to Jack. "Is he helping you?"

"Clarissa, who are you talking about?" Her father looked at her worriedly.

"Him," she answered, pointing to Jack again. "The boy in the white."

"Clarissa, sweetie, no one is there," her mother said slowly as Jack and Sir Nicholas shared a quick look.

"There is, I can see him too," Zaccary answered.

Hey everyone! This is the first official chapter for this story I have written since I have been back from my mission. Any others before were all written before I left so I had some going while I was gone.

Let's get to it, shall we?

Nicholas and Jack shared a look. No way they'd found her this easy. For once did the heroes of the story make it a step ahead? And for her brother to hear and see him too? It seems Ralf forgot to mention something.

Jack shook himself out of his thoughts and took a step forward. "Clarissa, is it?" He asked even though he definitely knew. She nodded and Jack continued, swallowing back the anxiety he felt. "My name is Jack Frost. I am the friend Nicholas is helping. Normally, people wouldn't be able to see me. Only a few people can without the Moon's help. We're searching for those people actually."

"Are you saying that Clarissa and I are the only ones to see or hear you at all?" Zaccary asked incredulously. He sent a glance at his mother and father who were looking very confused.

"Nicholas as well but that is because of who he is," Jack confirmed with a firm nod of his head.

"What?" Zaccary said. He looked at Nicholas, completely lost. The large man didn't seem too special, his heavy coat looked more expensive than anything he owned in his entire life, but many things were more expensive than anything Zaccary had.

"Zaccary, who are you talking to?" The father, Carzon said. He was looking at his son with concern. Who wouldn't though, if your son suddenly started talking to what seemed like empty air. Jack couldn't blame him, but they were going to get nowhere if they kept going on like this.

"Sir, I believe I can explain," Nicholas interjected before things could get too far out of hand. "My full name is Sir Nicholas, but people also know me as Father Christmas. Your children have a very special gift because they can both see and hear my friend, whom I am helping look for someone. His name is Jack Frost."

Now both Carzon and Teresa were looking very nervous. Teresa grabbed hold of Clarissa's hand and started edging out the door. "Come, Clarissa, we really should be going."

"Mother, I think he's telling the truth. You really can't see him, can you?" Clarissa eyed her mother, as if just realizing something. She faced her brother, asking for his help.

"Clarissa, darling, what is going on?" The poor dark haired woman was almost in tears.

"Exactly what he's saying mother, trust me," Zaccary seemed to see what his sister had. He took a step to stand by his mother, laying a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "You too, father."

Carzon and Teresa didn't relax. They looked from each other to their children then to Nicholas. Their eyes glazed right over Jack.

"Is there any way you can help them believe?" Clarissa looked pleadingly at Jack though it must have looked like empty space to her parents.

Jack pondered that for a moment then nodded. He hadn't tried it before but he'd given it some thought many times. He took a step forward, staff in hand and planted it between his feet in front of him. From the ground up, only a couple feet away grew an ice statue of what Jack looked like. An almost exact replica, complete with the crooked staff and all. He reached out to touch it on the head with his fingers and it suddenly moved. It's head moved to look at the older couple and nodded deeply in their direction. It's face expressionless. From there it started copying whatever Jack did.

Carzon and Teresa gasped, staring wide eyed at the ice-boy before them. "What are you?" Carzon asked.

"We can explain that later," Jack said, the ice statue copying every move. He was glad Nick's large form blocked his copy from the sight of the soldiers and the innkeeper in the room. "Right now we should go somewhere more private."

"What did he say?" Teresa asked, looking at her daughter. The statue couldn't make any sound beyond the slight scraping of the ice.

"That we need to go somewhere else before they explain more," Zaccary answered for her. "He is right. There would be too many questions with this. Can you make it melt or something? I can only imagine how that looks for someone without seeing you make it."

"Like a ghost," Carzon supplied. He looked a little white and he couldn't look away from it.

Jack quickly got rid of the statue. Scaring them had not been what he intended.

Nick took over for him so the parents knew what was happening. "Do you know the caves in the mountains northeast of here?"

"The caves riddled with bandits and scoundrels?" Teresa asked.

Nick and Jack looked at each other. They forgot mortals worried about things like that. "Well, if there are any more of those, I'm sure Jack and I can take care of them," Nicholas assured them. "We also have a few other friends waiting for us there. Don't worry, it's safe. We can talk more there."

"That is if you don't already have plans today," suddenly Jack felt nervous. "We realize you all probably have lives of your own and we don't want to interrupt that."

"But this is also really important, while Jack is right, we do not want to interrupt your life, we also can't help it, as it is life or death," Nick said, with an almost exasperated sigh directed at Jack.

Jack flashed an agonizingly pained look at Nick, but he couldn't help it. He was too worried Carzon and Teresa would hate him for stealing their daughter and potentially their son too. At the same time, he knew that ignoring the fact they had lives would be dangerous with the amount of commitment they need to show later in the training they would need to go through.

"Fate is on your side, Sir Nicholas," Carzon said with a hesitant smile. "What life we have is not worth living a second longer. This may be a welcome change."

The white haired boy's heart clenched in an excruciating way. What could they be going through for them all to agree on this? To choose a life or death existence over a not so life threatening one? What tortures could they be going through to want such a distraction? Jack could not help but feel responsible for them even though he should not. He could not help but feel as though he should have done something.

What could he have done? Even now, what did he know of the terror in their nights, wondering if they would survive the next day? Of how they wondered when their next meal would be? What did he know? All he knew now was how he was going to try with all his might to make sure their life was going to be better than it was now.

"How much longer do you think they're going to be?"

"Calm down, Tooth, they'll be fine, he's got North with him, he'll keep Jack out of trouble."

"But what if Pitch showed up?" Tooth fluttered over to the entrance of the cave to see if they were coming yet. She landed, eyes darting back and forth over the tree linge. The sun was almost directly above them now. It had gotten very late. "And we would not even know. I knew we should have gone along!"

"And what? Blow up the internet about a feather covered, flying creature? Or a giant rabbit? Or a short gold man made of sand?" Bunny laughed. He sat not too far from a fire going on right by the entrance."Right. Next time, if you actually do it, let me know how that goes."

"Hey! I've gone incognito before!" Tooth's wings erupted waspishly from her back, launching her forward to hover threateningly over the rabbit. How was lounging by the rocks further in the cave. Sandy was watching the two of them, anticipation on his face as he was obviously waiting for something.

"Yeah, in Rio during the Festival! No one questions anything then!"

"They do!"

"Were you caught?"

"Well, no but-"

"My point exactly." Bunny looked very smug as he settled further in his spot by the wall.

"How do you know that wasn't because I'm a good actress?"

"Because no matter what you do, you can't hide your wings!"

"I'd like to see you try and cover your ears or your face!"

"That has nothing to do with it and you know it!"

"Oh, it so does!"

"You know what-"

"Are you going to stop squabbling so we can introduce you or are we going to stand here another 20 minutes?"

The two arguing immortals froze and turned their heads to see a large group of people at the entrance of the cave. A boy dressed in bright white and a large man that filled the entrance in the back caught their attention.

"Jack!" Tooth's relief manifested in her mad dash to embrace the young looking immortal, then the one that could be mistaken for a mountain. Then the rambling started. "I'm so glad you're both safe! Did you find her? Does she remember you? Can she see you? What are we going to do if she can't see you? We haven't talked about that yet. Do we know? What about-"

"Tooth!" Nicholas was laughing and Jack was turning a light shade of pink. "Let the man speak!"

"We don't need to worry about that, Clarissa and Zaccary can see me just fine," Jack said with an amused but embarrassed chuckle. "But their parents can't and she does not remember." He turned to the opening of the cave. "Tooth, Bunny, Sandy, meet Clarissa, Zaccary, Corzan and Teresa."

"This is the Tooth fairy, the Easter Bunny and Sandman," Nick introduced the immortals for their parent's sakes. "Please, sit. We can explain more."

Several hours later, they sat around the fire, the flames illuminating the faces of those sitting except for Jack's. Without the moonlight's touch it was as if he didn't exist at all. They had just finished explaining everything and the family of four was a little stunned by everything they were told. Except for Zaccary. For whatever reason, he seemed to be taking this in stride.

"What now?" The boy asked. "Wait for the moon to come up? Wait for this Pitch Black guy so we can take him out?"

Jack's eyes darted to the entrance of the cave. "No, we can't afford to sit and wait for Pitch, we need to get ready for him," he said. "We need to train you. But I also think we don't need to wait for Ralf much longer."

"I still can't get over how the moon's name is Ralf," Jack heard Zaccary mutter to Clarissa as Jack walked outside. He laughed to himself. If that was the only thing the mortal was stuck on from this whole thing, he would be just fine.

It was Clarissa he was worried about. She hadn't said a word the entire time. Jack had decided he didn't need to bring up their personal life from their first life. Or her second. But it was still a lot to be told that you would be the one deciding factor in a war between immortals that hasn't even started yet. And that you would become one yourself, leaving your family behind.

"Hey, Ralf, old buddy," Jack muttered, grinning up at the full moon above him. He had to put his worries aside for now. Take one step at a time.

Hello, Jack. I see you found them.

"You knew about Zaccary, didn't you?" Jack accused. "How did you know? And how is it he can see me? Is he like Ezekiel and Jamie?"

I'm not sure about Jamie. He might just have a gift, just like Carzon and Teresa do not, even though they are definitely connected to all this. Look closely at Zaccary, Jack, Ralf said, amusement coloring his tone. Does he not look familiar?

Standing in the moonlight, Jack sent an analytical gaze to the crowd by the entrance. They were all there, the Guardians as well. The family was in front, watching expectantly as the moonlight drenched him head to toe.

There was only one that he focused on. The tall, gangly, dark haired boy looked the same since he found them. But now that he was looking for it, he could see something familiar in Zaccary. His face was very similar to that of...Jack's eyes widened as Carzon's and Teresa's did but for a different reason.

"Zordah?" He asked unbelievingly. Now he looked at Carzon and Teresa, searching for more. He was not disappointed. Flashes of old memories flew across his mind. He's seen these people before. "Carzat? Tasha?"

We were not waiting for Clara to be ready, Ralf explained. I realized this last night but you were avoiding me. We were waiting for Zordah. It seems that it is just the circumstances that weren't ready. Fate was waiting for Zordah to be ready as well as for me to realize what was going on.

"I can't believe it," Jack muttered. Now that he thought about it, Zaccary looked an awful lot like Ezekiel as well. Despite the fact that his build was drastically different. This was beginning to be too much. He sat down hard on a rock, staring at the small family. After so long, his family was finally back together and this time he actually realized it.

Believe it. Ralf said, not hiding his laughter. Normally this would annoy Jack but he was too shocked to mind. Tell them to step into the moonlight, I think I can do something about their memories.

"Jack? Are you alright?" Clarissa asked, stepping forward. She hardly paid any attention as her parents tried keeping her back from the moonlight.

The white haired boy sent her a small, scared smile.

"Ralf wants the four of you to step into the moonlight," he told her. Now he had eyes only for her.

"Why is that?" Carzon asked warily.

"He thinks he can help with the memories."

Zaccary and Clarissa had no hesitation now, stepping into the moonlight just outside the cave. Carzon and Teresa followed slowly, as if something would go terribly wrong.

Eyes widened and grins appeared. Clarissa burst into tears, she was so relieved. "Jackath!" She exclaimed. She threw her arms around the boy in front of her and sobbed into his shoulder. "I'm so happy you're alive!"

Jack couldn't get over his shock. "Clara," he breathed. Over her shoulder (because she still had not let him go) he saw her parents. "Carzat. Tasha. You're here." As if saying it out loud would make it more real in his mind.

The Guardians looked on, confused but strangely happy for this boy they hadn't even known that long. They could tell something momentous was happening.

"Hey! What about me?" An indignant tone brought their attention to...Zordah.

Apparently memories were not the only thing Ralf could restore. He was back in his larger, stronger body. He held his arms wide open, waiting for the group hug that had been long, long overdue.
