Chapter I
It was a dreary, grey afternoon and me and my family were all in a hollow log sitting and mourning the death of my uncle Russel. Today on the 6th of December my uncle died 5 years ago. I don't really remember uncle Russel all I do know is that he was a kind old log that loved to sit in the sun all day. I could hear crying and whispers of comfort as I stood up and walked toward the guitar sitting silently on a pedestal. " Uncle Russel? " I called knowing he wouldn't hear me " you don't mind if I have a little play on you do you? " I heard a small whisper in reply so faint that if you weren't listening for it you would miss it completely or think it was wind Of course it replied I can see the musical talent within you I slowly and carefully picked up the guitar and began plucking the strings. The song that came from my barky fingers was beautiful and I instantly fell in love with music. Just then my mother came rushing through the door " Johan Sebastian Bark you are in so much trouble little mister! " I scooted for my life and somehow managed to put the guitar back onto the pedestal. I retreated to my favourite moss patch and sucked in the warm goodness of sunshine.

I walk towards my brother's room in our big tree of a house. I hear soft noises and my brother is in there comforting my aunt. " Oh Russel! " she moans " why did you leave me! " I decide not to disturb them it's a really sad day for her so I leave her to it.
I instead walk to the pile of wooden instruments and pick a fiddle. I play and play and play. I fall even deeper in love with the art of music and I sit there playing until my roots are about to fall off. I stop and stroke the fiddle for a long time and slowly walk home fiddle in hand.
