Not Pretty

(Age 15/16)

El stared at the bathroom mirror. She ran her fingers through her curls and sighed. She had plain brown eyes and plain brown curls that were always messy. "Not pretty." El told herself as she looked at her reflection.

Mike had lied, she wasn't pretty. The girls at school were pretty, beautiful even. They all had long blond or brown or red hair and stunning blue, grey or green eyes. Thats what El wanted, but she could never have. El was plain, boring.

Mike deserved someone better. He deserved someone who was beautiful. She didn't deserve him. Tears filled her brown eyes as she gazed at the mirror, "N-not pretty. Not e-even close." She decided and hurriedly wiped her eyes before going into the basement.

"Mike, why do you love me?" El asked as she and Mike laid across the couch together. Her head rested on his chest, listening to the soothing beating of his heart as the question came into her head.

"El I love you to the moon and back," Mike replied and ran his fingers through her hair. "You're amazing and kind and sweet and badass and caring and bitchin'... and you are absolutely beautiful."

El shook her head, "You could do way better than me, Mike."

"What?" Mike asked, shocked, "El, I don't deserve you. I can't get a girl who is more amazing and more gorgeous than you are."

"Not pretty." El mumbled and closed her eyes.

"What?"

El took a deep breath and released her feelings, "All the other girls at school have long, blonde or red or brown hair. They all have pretty eyes instead of boring brown ones like me. They're popular and everyone loves them. They don't deal with bullies and everyone wants to be with them."

She took a shakey breath and continued, "I don't deserve you Mike. You deserve a girl who is pretty and has long hair and beautiful eyes and is... And is normal and not from a lab and doesn't have a number as her name! I'm not pretty and you deserve someone who is!" She didn't realize it, but she had started crying.

Mike pulled her into his chest and hugged her tight. "El, stop," He whispered against her ear, "You're the most beautiful girl in this world. You're a fairytale princess, alluring, amazing, mesmerizing. I love your curls," He twirled one of her curls with his finger.

"I love your soft eyes, I always get lost in them." He ran his thumb across her lips, "I love your lips, I would kiss them all day if I could." He pressed a soft kiss against her lips.

El shook her head, "I'm not pretty Mike. Stop lying to me. Friends... and boyfriends don't lie."

"I'm not lying El." Mike sighed, "You are absolutely beautiful and perfect and I will do whatever I have to do to make you see that."

"There isn't anything you can do Mike. I still don't get why you're dating me..." El mumbled.

"I'm dating you because I'm absolutely in love with you... and I'll find a way to show you. I promise." An idea was forming in his head, and all he would need was a pad of post-it-notes and a pen.

The next day (Day 1)

El woken up the next morning with Mike's arms wrapped tightly around her. She rolled over so she was facing him and ran her fingers through his dark hair. He stirred slightly, a smile playing on his lips. He buried his face in his pillow and pulled her close, making her giggle.

"Mike, let me go." El groaned, pulling away from Mike grasp. "I want eggos."

"No!" He whined, "Don't leave me!" El briefly saw pen ink smeared across his hands.

"If you don't let me go," El smirked, "you get no hugs and kisses for the rest of the day."

Mike's eyes opened immediately and he loosened his grip on El's waist. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I can't live without your hugs and kisses!"

El laughed and pulled away, getting ready. "I'm going to make eggos." And with that she went downstairs.

El pulled out the box of eggos from the freezer, and a piece of paper fell out of the box.

'El, your eyes are like diamonds. I always get lost in them and I would look into your mesmerizing eyes all the time if I could. Your eyes are soft and filled with love. You're always happy and your eyes are always bright. Your brown eyes are absolutely beautiful El. --- ❤️ Mike'

El blushed hard as she stared at Mike's words. She felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and hug her tight.

"Mike, what's with the note?"

"Do you not like it?"

"Of course I like it, it's really sweet. But why?"

Mike turned her around so she was facing him, "I'm going to keep doing this until you realize how beautiful you are. And when you realize, tell me that I win, and I'll tell you "I told you so"."

El smiled shyly and blushed, but was still denying.

Day 2

"El, can you go set up the movie in the basement while I grab the food?" Mike called from the kitchen, a smirk on his face.

"Okay!" El replied and went into the basement.

A piece of paper was taped to the tv remote.

'El, yours curls are amazing and honestly really fun to play with. Your hair is as soft as silk; you look so cute and pretty with your curly hair. I love playing with your curls when we watch tv and you always look like a princess from a fairytale. I love your dark curls; your hair is beautiful El. --- ❤️ Mike."

El immediately brought her hand up and ran it through her soft curls. She heard a soft chuckle behind her. El turned around and saw Mike on the stairs, a blanket and snacks in hand and a grin on his face.

Day 3

"I'll be right back," El said and pulled away from Mike on the couch. He frowned slightly as she walked into the bathroom to grab a hair tie. El dug through the drawers and finally found one.

El placed it on her wrist and looked into the mirror and began tying her hair back. Once she was done, she noticed a piece of paper taped to the mirror.

'El, your smile is mesmerizing . Every time you smile, you take my breath away. I get butterflies every time I see your beautiful smile, and I love seeing you happy. I would give anything just to see that gorgeous, sweet smile all day, every day. Your smile is beautiful, El. --- ❤️ Mike.'

El looked into the mirror and smiled, a soft giggle escaping her lips.

She went back to the basement, the note in her hand. She met Mike's eyes and she smiled wide, seeing the smug smile on his lips. He was winning this game.

Day 4

Mike and El were walking outside, their fingers intertwined. Her curls blew in the breeze as Mike led her to the lake. They took of their shoes and socks, and sat on the edge, dangling their feet into the cool water. Mike's arm wrapped around her shoulder and held her close, while her arms wrapped around his torso.

Mike brought his hand up to her cheek and pressed his lips against hers gently, earning a smile and a kiss in return. El loved little moments like this with her boyfriend. Mike pulled away slightly and reached into his pocket, pulling out a note and showing it to her.

'El, I can't even describe the way I feel when I kiss your lips, but I'll try my best. I feel butterflies and my heart beats faster. Your lips are soft and comforting, and I don't know what I would do if I couldn't kiss your beautiful lips every day. Whenever I kiss you, my mind goes blank and all I want to do is to kiss you again and again. Your lips are desirable and so fricken kissable; when I met you, I don't even know why I didn't kiss you way sooner. I love your lips El, and just like every part of you, their perfect and beautiful.'

El's cheeks went bright red as she finished reading the words. Mike smiled shyly and met her eyes. She leaned forward and kissed him sweetly, starting to believe his words. His smug smile returned to his lips as he kissed her back.

Day 5

El woke up that morning, alone. The blanket had been wrapped around her, but Mike wasn't there. She sat up and frowned before getting dressed and going into the kitchen. She could hear the soft noise of the toaster, and Mike's soft voice humming a song from the kitchen.

El crept around the corner and saw Mike making eggos for her. She grinned and climbed onto the counter while he had his back turned. He turned around and jumped slightly, making her giggle.

"Morning, El," He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her lips gently.

"Morning," El smiled, "Why did you get up early?" She pouted.

"I wanted to make my princess breakfast," Mike said, pulling her off of the counter. "Everyone left early, so I thought I'd surprise you."

"Thanks Mike, you're the best." El placed her hands on his shoulder and slightly stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek. He grinned and they both went to the table, with their eggos. El picked up the piece of paper and smiled softly as she began to read,

'El, I don't deserve you. I don't care that you don't have long hair or coloured eyes, because you wouldn't be you if you did. I love you curls and I love your eyes. I love your smile and I definitely love your lips. You're perfect. I couldn't get anyone better than you. You light up my heart every single time I see you. There could be a million beautiful things, but you would be the only one I could see. You say that you aren't pretty, and that's true, because you are beautiful, stunning, gorgeous. You're mine, and I actually can't believe that I get to call you mine. I love you El. You aren't pretty, you are beautiful.'

El looked up at Mike who had a grin on his face. Her cheeks went red and she kissed him deeply. He smirked and kissed her back.

"You win," El mumbled, making him smile.

"I know," Mike said with a smirk, "I told you so."

That was so fricken fluffy and I want to scream because my Mileven heart hurts rn cause I wrOTE THIS FLUFFY AF CHAPTER.
