Promise Me

The dark clouds engulfed the large city as a heavy downpour began. Many people walked around with themselves protected by their large umbrellas, but one boy ran along the sidewalk in only a t-shirt and jeans.Water splashed against his red hightops as he hurried down the paved path. The boy's eyes had been so focused on the goal ahead of him that he had not seen the elderly man in front of him.The freckled boy fell to the ground with a thump and quickly stood up,and rushed over to the wrinkled man he had ran into. The teenager reached down and picked the grocery bags before handing them to the man.The old soul smiled and thanked the boy,but Izuku had already disappeared behind him.

Izuku Midoryia had begun his rush out of U.A. when the truth about Ochaco Uraraka's strange aura had been revealed to him.He had picked up on her change for the past two weeks, but never pressed-that wasn't him.He figured that if she was having an issue he'd be the first one she would tell, but he had been terribly wrong.

Izuku set his hands on his knees and let out three huffs before looking up at the large building before him.The large white hospital towered over all other surrounding buildings and had a modest stone fountain towards the entrance.Deku pulled the long strands of his dark curls that had been weighed down from the precipitation from his bright eyes and began his walk into the treatment center.

When the boy made it inside the lights blinded him due to the change from the lingering darkness outside. The green-haired boy blinked a few times before adjusting to the change and began to search for the emergency room. His eyes wandered around the colorless, brick walls and the many different signs that hung from the bland ceiling.Deku grew frustrated with each wrong section of the hospital. He was beginning to wonder if he had gotten lost when he found his long awaited target-urgent care.

The boy walked through the thick, wooden door and studied the waiting room. The place was rather empty and devoid of life.A lone television flickered the local news and detailed the amazing accomplishment of the world's first doughnut to weigh a ton,but that wasn't his focus at the moment. The boy walked up to the front desk unsure of how to approach his problem."H-Hey could I ...uhhh,ask a favor?"

The chubby,auburn-haired woman behind the desk scrunched her face at the question. She then adjusted her thick glasses as she answered Izuku."Hmmm, that depends on what you need young man."

Izuku smiled awkwardly and scratched his head."S-Sorry."

"Nothing to apologize for."

"R-Right,w-well I was wondering if I could visit someone that's back there?"

The woman looked at the boy and furrowed her brow."That depends on who you want to see."

"O-Of course,...."The boy then cleared his throat."I was wondering if I could see the Urarakas?"The woman didn't answer the boy,but instead began to click on her computer screen.

After a few seconds the woman frowned."Sorry, but they're only having family visits,so unless you're a family member I can't let you back there. And you aren't an Uraraka are you?"

"N-No,"Midoryia spoke nearly in a whisper. The boy was in the midst of turning around when he stopped and asked a question."C-Could just forgo the rules just this one time?"

The woman looked at the boy with heavy eyes."Why,what does this mean to you?"

"Well,my friend is back there, and I haven't really been there for her.So I want to make sure she has someone to support her."

The woman across from Deku let out a sigh."I usually don't do this,but...go on ahead."

.....

Izuku stood outside of the large door and looked at the tile floor below him.He had come so far,so he didn't have much of a choice. The boy closed his eyes as he knocked on the door.Moments later a voice thick with emotion called out."C-Come in."Deku blew out a puff of air as he turned the silver handle.Inside the room he nearly choked on sadness. The sight of Mrs.Uraraka unconscious on the bed hit him hard, but not quite like Ochaco's voice."D-Deku,wh-what are you doin' here?"The boy's eyes slowly moved from the sleeping woman to his friend in the chair beside him.The usually cheery girl looked rough. Her hair was frizzled, her eyes were watery and red,and her usual smile had been eviscerated by despair.

"To check on you."Izuku then walked over to the seat and rested in the blue chair."How long has she been like this?"

Ochaco began to let a few tears seep out."S-She was diagnosed about a month ago,but today was her surgery."

Izuku bit his lip before asking the question that had been burning in his mind ever since her learned the truth."Why didn't you tell me?"

"I-I didn't want to burden you with something else?"

"Burden me?"

Uraraka sniffled as she explained."Y-You have the weight of the world on your shoulders,so what kind of friend would I be to add another worry?"

Midoryia shook his head."Y-You're my best friend;you know that right?"

"Uh huh."The girl then buried her face in her hands.

"That means I want you to tell me everything, the good, the bad,and the ugly, but especially the bad.We need to be there for each other."The boy wrapped his arm around the girl and pulled her into his shoulder. The girl's head rested in his shoulder as he told her why he came."I want you to promise me something."

"W-What?"

"That you won't hide anything from me-whether it be your pain, your fun,or your feelings.I want to know everything."The girl answered Izuku with a painful cry as she let everything out.The days of hiding her pain were gone, and Izuku would be the only person she'd tell.

Ehhh kinda sad right.Next one will be fluffy and not so sad-I hope
