5 Years Later

It was August 9th and the day of Melody's sisters rehearsal dinner before her wedding on the 30th. Hazel was Melody's step-sister and she was dating a man named Roman.

Melody had met Roman a handful of times due to his profession which Hazel kept quiet about, but they also have a 7 year old daughter called Hailey.

After getting herself dressed, Melody had decided on a navy blue silk dress that came to the middle of her calves, and now she was scrambling around the house trying to find her earring.

"Kingsley, are you ready?" Melody yelled lightly. She pulled the cushions off of her sofa in search of this damn earring. Moments after her question she heard tiny little footsteps running from her sons bedroom.

"I'm ready mommy!" A small voice spoke. Melody flipped her attention to her son who had put on a navy suit that matched her dress, tie tied messily and his shirt half tucked in and half tucked out. Melody smiled and put the cushions back before walking over Kingsley and kneeling to his height.

"You look handsome." She smiled. She took his tie before straightening it up and tucking the rest of his shirt in before giving him a kiss on his forehead. "Are you ready to go?"

Kingsley nodded and began jumping up and down.

"I wanna see Auntie Hazel in her beautiful dress!" He exclaimed and Melody smiled even wider.

"She won't be wearing the special dress but I'm sure she'll look just as beautiful." Melody forgot about her earring and decided on going without to avoid the risk of being late. She held onto Kingsley's hand and grabbed her purse and keys before walking out of her apartment.

As she exited and locked her front door she saw her best friends car pulling up. She walked with Kingsley to the car before placing him the car seat and greeting her friends.

"Hey Brielle, hey Drew!" She said as she got into the back seat of the car. Brielle and Drew greeted her back before Brielle turned to Kingsley.

"Well don't you scrub up well little man!" Brielle said and Kingsley giggled. Drew began to drive them to the event.

"Brie, do you know if Elliana is coming? I remember her saying she had a shift." Melody asked. Brielle shrugged before looking at her phone.

"Ah, she managed to get out of work a little bit earlier but won't be able to arrive until like an hour into the event." Brie responded and Mel nodded.

"Good, I don't want her to miss out on this."
