itachi pov:

I kuchiyose no jutsu and summon huna-baa.

huna: can't an old crow get some rest around here?

itachi: its kohii.

huna: hm?

She waddled. (okay... waddled sounds wrong. I don't know why penguins appear in my head...) She walked to  kohii's side, she used her wing and patted softly to kohii's white wings... I could see huna-baa's expression turn bad. Something bad must have happened. What did silly kohii do this time?

huna: itachi...

itachi: tell me. I have to know.

huna: she... her time is almost up.

itachi: what do you mean?

huna: she didn't tell you huh. When she cut the connection to the clan of the crows... she started to die.

itachi: I don't understand. She is a human. She is not a kuchiyose.

huna: it all started when... her family died and her father passed her to us. We raised her, taught her. Eventually one day we knew she had to go out there. But we couldn't stop worrying. So we decided that the only one way for our onna to not die is to make her into one of us.

itachi: so... she is a kuchiyose?

huna: we made her sign the permanent contracts of becoming a kuchiyose like every newborn of our world did. This way, even if we die in your world, we would just poof and come back to our world injured. We wouldn't die. But that contract is permanent. If one breaks it and stays in your world, she will die off slowly. 

itachi: what... and she never told me. Than why didn't you guys stop her?

huna: she was too stubborn. She wanted to be by your side. She said... I feel lonely huna-baa.

flashback~

huna: what are you thinking of?

kohii: I feel lonely.

huna: tha go find tengu or rasu.

kohii:I feel lonely huna-baa. After I met him, I felt lonely. I wanted to be by his side. For real.

huna: are you crazy? You know we can't stay out there for more than a month, we become weaker.

kohii: what if... I break the permanent contract?

huna: DO YOU WANT TO DIE?

kohii: I won't become weak. I still can protect myself. Just...

huna:YOU WILL DIE. Slowly... and in pain.

kohii: pain? Like being pierced pain?

huna: how would I know.

kohii: I don't mind.

huna: than I rather you stay out there without breaking the contract.

kohii: *shakes head* I will be weak than. I don't want to be a burden. I die either way anyway.

huna: does the word pain don't make any sense to you?

kohii: hehe.

itachi: kohii...gomene...

huna: her white wings are her lifespan. Don't let anyone cut off her white wings until they disappear. Promise me at least that.

itachi: of course.

She wakes up and sits up, I go to her and let her lean onto my back as support. I could feel and see the feathers fly around as she moved. Her white wings become significantly smaller. I want to cry... tears were threatening to fall.

'itachi?' she turned around to look at me. 'itachi...' she wiped off the tears that were threatening to fall 'why?'

itachi: gomene.

huna: kohii. Take care. *poof*

kohii: she... told you?

I hug her tightly. I don't want her to go. She... was...the only one

who understood me

and now... she sacrificed herself... not telling me. Just for one silly wish...

I know. I know kohii.I know you love me. I love you too. But I didn't want you to make such a big sacrifice for me. I am selfish. I don't deserve you. I said it before. So... you shouldn't have done it for me.

Maybe... it was a mistake to tell her 'aishteru.' A mistake to have gone near her. A mistake... to have want her to be by my side. Now... she has to pay for it. She... has to die.

I kissed her by the forehead... gomene.

She just giggled 'kohii ice cream. Than I won't go.'

itachi : anything for you.

Anything... because you... stood by me. You... just wanted to be by my side.
