Chapter 39 -His Fairness-
"Eh? Where are we going...?" A young albino said, clearly tired after he rubbed his eyes gently. He was walking behind a certain blonde who was currently checking around the halls. Though of course Luz has then turned and smiled in a gleeful excited manner, "Were going to wake up mom and dad."
The young albino could only nod, getting the idea before smiling along with the blonde. But soon the two could only walk and try their best to sneak around the empty halls of the castle.
Their tiny little steps that they had took to not cause any noise, despite the two being the two precious sons of the Lord being Kazuki. Yet even so, when they did reach the towards a certain room, the two made a little hand motion to notify the gaurds that were in the front door.
Smiling, Luz happily tried to give the gaurds a head pat, which was something that was quite normal for the young boy. Though of course Mafu would sometimes try to do the same as well it to them like Luz.
"C'mon...! We can attack them while they're sleeping Mafu!" He tried saying in a whispering tone as the other would just smile as he giggled at the idea. Simply because it had to do with their loving parents and the fact that today, was a special day.
The fact that the castle was quite busy these past few days, the two children still made their efforts to make their home more livelier. Since who wouldn't want the two son's making everyone's day? Though some did admit that they can be a bit much, but that wasn't always such a problem.
"Ready...?"
Giving a nod, the two began to slowly approach the bed before getting a closer look at their two parents. They then smiled, each getting ready to do their special attack.
Their morning declaration of love.
"GOOD MORNING!!!!"
Quickly hugging them, both Mafu and Luz were waiting for a reaction. Yet there was nothing. This had them wonder if this time their loud and so called 'smart' attack even worked at this point.
"Did it not work...?" Mafu asked, gently grabbing onto the blonde's sleeve. Though the lavender-eyed boy could simply pat the albino's head, "I-I'm sure it did! Maybe mother and father had a rough day!" He replied as he hugged the angel in a more gentler manner.
Though as the two looked over towards their parents, suddenly. The large red coated blanket had suddenly risen up, seeming as if something was possessing it. The noise from the red fabric would let out an ominous growl, getting nearer and nearer towards the two young boys.
"P-Please Mr. Monster, please let us live...! You can even take Luz!!!" The albino cried, getting behind the blonde as he gently started to push him. This of course let the lavender-eyed boy to shake his head, "M-Mafu! Not me! Please just take Mafu instead-!"
As the two tried to get behind one another, the supposed 'monster' was now quietly laughing. Though as it did, a smack was given from the mother herself. She sighed as her ruby-colored eyes then faced the two in front of her.
"Alright, alright. It was funny while it lasted but I think that's enough now sweetheart."
Just seeing their sweet mother had made both Mafu and Luz hug her tightly. Both being embraced by the Lady's arms as she smiled sweetly at the two. "It's alright, your father was just being silly. You know how he is now." She explained as she let out a little laugh. Though of course the man beside her was simply rubbing the area where his wife had smacked him.
"You didin't have to smack me that hard..." He said, slightly giving a little visible pout. Though despite him being the Lord, he really was much different then from what people had described him to be. It was a side of him that no one else could really see other than his servants and family members.
"Father! It's finally Saturday today, does that mean me and Mafu can go with you in town?" The blonde asked, smiling brightly at the caring man beside them.
His father smiled, patting his head gently, "Of course. How about we go pay your friends Naruse and Araki and visit while we're at it too?" Immediately interested, the winged angel spoke up in a hopeful manner, "D-Does that mean...?"
"Yes Mafu, we can have some dessert from the shop as well."
Both children were delighted to hear this as they went ahead and hugged the Lord with another smile. Today would surely be a good eventful day for the father and his two sons.
"C'mon Mafu! We can't keep mother and father waiting!" The blonde urged, trying his best to contain his excitement as the other would try looking around. Simply not wanting to forget anything, though Luz on the other hand would quietly wait. He honestly didin't mind about waiting for the albino, they were pretty much well, brothers at this point.
"I think I'm ready now!" He smiled, cheerfully walking back towards Luz who had given a nod as they began to make their way towards the dining hall to meet up with their father.
It didin't take as long though they still couldn't help but talk along the way with other passing servants. Their mother and father had known this often very well but even so, they couldn't help but feel like one day the two boys would actually be late.
"There they are! My, my. Have you both been talking with the servants again?"
"Mhm! Me and Luz thought that talking to them would make them smile!" Mafu said, rasing his arms around with a gleeful smile. Their mother would simply grin as she would gently hug the two boys, "Such angels."
The Lord could only smile as he nodded his head, "Indeed they are."
Luz on the other hand would shake his head, "Yeah but... What about you and mother...? If we're angels, then you are too because we love you!" He said, nuzzling against the red fabric of his mother's clothing. Though the two would sigh, admiring their two sons.
Despite this though, the time was also ticking for the meeting of the Lady would have to be done. This was something both of the small children knew about. Yet even so, they would still hug their mother with all the love that they could give as they waved her a goodbye, watching the carriage slowly disappear from the distance.
"Now, shall we walk towards the pastry shop in town?" He asked, seeing his two sons happily nod from excitement. This had now led them to walk outside and enjoy the view. Though the trail still needed some cleaning up to do due to the passing people, they still accepted the beauty that mother nature had to offer around the area.
Yet slowly, the faint noises of people's conversations could be heard as the three would grow nearer and nearer towards their destination.
"Make way! Make way! The Lord has come to pay his visit with his two sons!" Someone yelled, trying their best to make people move aside. Though Lord Kazuki could merely sigh as he gently held onto both of his son's hands. He didin't want the two to get lost after all.
"My Lord! May you like some new clothing today? We will give you a free offering for you and your two sons-!" A women said, holding up a few colored pieces of clothing as another would come up and hold up a few samples of food, "If you'd like, our shop will give you a free offer as well!"
Giving a small little awkward smile, not wanting to hurt their feelings. He would simply shake his head, "Ah... I think I'm fine, thank you. Though you may give others a free offer, especially for those who starve and are living out in the streets." He explained, wanting to kindly back away from the offer.
"Besides, you shopkeepers deserve the credit and such so don't just go offering to everyone either."
Looking at each other, they would simply nod, "O-Of course!"
"Good. Now then, let's go." He said, looking down at the two children who were holding his hands tightly. As they began to walk away, the three still couldn't help but wave a little goodbye, despite their father doing so with a more less serious look.
Looking around, the shops had many offerings for them. Yet never once had Lord Kazuki accepted any. It wasn't because he didn't accept it, just more like the sense of wrong that he's only getting free offers because of himself and his family's name. It didin't seem right to get things for simply just free when many others have to work to get a single item that they needed.
The town on the other hand wasn't as bad, the people were surprisingly a little open to new ideas. Though there was actually a few who were more bitter towards this specific part.
"Naruse-kun! Araki-san!"
Looking to see the familiar voice, the pink-haired boy smiled brightly before pulling onto Araki's sleeve gently, "Look it's Mafu-kun and Luz-san!"
As the children went along and greeted each other, their parents on the other would would have their regular small conversations. Each looking over and talking about their days and such. It was clear that being in a higher class than others didin't matter to them. They're human beings after all.
Or well, almost all human beings.
"Has your son learned how to use any of his powers yet?" The women with pink hair asked as she turned to look at Luz. Though the Lord could simply shake his head, "Not yet. Though I prefer for him to actually enjoy his time playing instead of just studying at such an early age. I want both him and Mafu to take their time as kids before going into anything complicated."
"I see... but how is Lady Rose? Has she been a good wife to you?"
"She has, she really has... Rose is simply very sweet and gentle with me most times. She also accepts Luz as her own son, just like how I accepted Mafu as my own." He explained, not realizing the smile that was upon his face.
Naruse's mother could only smile, "I'm very glad to hear that then." The Lord would simply nod before looking over towards the children, "Do you know how Eve is doing? I heard from his mother that he had fallen severely ill."
"I'm not sure... Though I know Sou had been down under the whether lately because of Eve's absence—"
"Oi! Come back here you little rascal-!" Someone yelled, interrupting the conversation. It was a man who seemed to be chasing a child.
It was a small brunette who was holding onto a small bag, running away from the older. He tried rushing towards the other way but was only led to pushing aside a few things. Making the people around him seemingly more upset at him. The brunette panted, trying his best to carry the items in hand before he felt the man from before grab his wrists tightly.
"L-Let go!!!" He yelled, attempting to kick the older's foot.
"You think? You think after stealing from me!? The other responded, holding onto him tighter before harshly taking the bag from the young boy. Though he wasn't as ready to give up, not yet. He didin't want to give up. Yet even so, the man could just push him onto the hard ground and yell at him over and over as the people around would simply just watch in silence.
That was until Lord Kazuki himself had stepped in, "What's with the ruckus here?" He asked sternly, looking over at the people around him. No one would really answer before the man in front of him would finally say something.
"It was a child sir... He thought that it would be okay to simply steal from a shop. He even knocked over other items as well and—"
"Yet what right does it give you to simply cross the line and push him to the ground like that?" He said, pointing over to the green-eyed brunette who was currently on the ground. The man could only avert his eyes away to avoid eye contact from Lord Kazuki.
"Yes you're right... I did a little..."
Letting out a sigh, the blue-eyed male kneeled down to the brunette with a warm smile, "Are you alright-?"
Giving a nod, the young boy slowly began to stand while the blonde in front of him would then ask one more question, "Now... Why did you steal from the shopkeeper?"
Not wanting to lie, the green-eyed boy would simply give a little frown as he spoke, "I just wanted to give some food for my family..."
The Lord's eyes would simply soften after hearing the boy's response before he turned to look at the shopkeeper, "Give him the bag, I'll pay." He said, handing the bag of gold onto the other's hands without hesitation. He understood the situation that the brunette was having. Though it was quite clear that the young boy was glad upon hearing the older letting have the bag of food. That way he could supply his family with food.
"Thank you, now here... Perhaps maybe later you could tell me where you're family is. That way we can figure something out to help you all." He explained, handing the bag to the younger who had a small smile.
"Thank you sir...!"
He then smiled at him, "Of course."
"Uratan!"
Turning to see who, it was a red-head who was running towards their way. Though the young brunette could just only sigh, preparing for the ball of worry who was coming towards him along with the other children, plus a blue-eyed boy in a coat.
"Father! What happened to Urata-san?" Luz asked, clearly worried for his friend as the red-head was already going to Urata's side.
"Ah... We ran into trouble, please don't worry alright?" He said, chuckling before noticing the children's still worried mood. Thinking of what to do, he then had an idea, proposing an idea.
"How about we all get any type of pastry that you'd all like? That way we can brighten up the mood." He said, showing his proud self before the others would simply smile in agreement. "Mhm! Maybe then we can also cheer up Sou-kun too!" Naruse said, having the blue-eyed boy next to him. Though of course the Lord himself couldn't decline and so, they went ahead and went to Naruse's place.
Each receiving their pastries, the adults were at their table, talking as they watched their children. All of which were chaotic in their own ways, though that was of course one of their charms.
"Uratan, can I try a piece of your cake?" The red-head asked, hoping to try the vanilla cake that other had. It wasn't as plain as he thought but surely the brunette had chosen it because he saw it differently.
"Fine..."
Happily accepting, the red-head could happily eat the small piece that the brunette had fed him. It wasn't too sweet but even so, Sakata could only return the kind act by also feeding his friend a piece of his cake as well.
Though the other children would simply watch, each wondering if this was normal of them to do.
"Uratan-san does care for Sakatan after all?" Naruse asked, eyeing the two as he smiled.
"Hm~ Naruse-kun, will we be able to go by Eve-kun's house later?" Mafu asked, wanting to know if their friend was alright. Especially a certain blue-eyed boy who had a visible frown.
"Mama and papa said no... but maybe we can get him presents!" He responded, happily showing his energetic mood. This had actually helped Sou as he quickly began to nod his head, "Yeah! We can do that!"He exclaimed. Yet this of course had caught the parent's attention.
"I think that's fine, besides. I'm sure Eve would be delighted to receive any gift you children would give him." Araki's father said, smiling at them.
This was now the start of the children's plan. The plan to find suitable presents for their mushroom haired friend and to also cheer up the soft hearted blonde being Sou himself.
Surely they can succeed well.
