Chapter 36 -The Welcoming Village-
"Mafu!" A ravennette called out, trying to see if he could get a reply from the albino male. Which he did actually, but you might be asking why exactly. Well then, you see, a certain angel had previously wanted to go to the village. And well, Soraru had wanted to go with him. Though to be fair, he did want to spend time with the albino at least for a little, but not just him. He wanted to talk with Eve and Sou very much as well since they never talk a lot compared to others, and so he wanted to change that really.
"Alright, I'm ready now~!"
Looking over to see the door from the bedroom open, the albino had put on some comfortable looking clothing. His wings on the other hand was at question, because this time, they weren't anywhere visible at all. Soraru began to tilt his head a little as he continued to look at the angel.
"Why are you tucking in your wings? Isn't it uncomfortable?" The male asked in curiosity since by now he's usually used to seeing Mafu with his wings out. Smiling, he simply started to give his little response, "Well... I feel like my wings could give away which side I'm on." He said, but the older male could only lean over to the side.
"Though, I'm not sure if it'll help much Mafu. I mean, Luz is here as well, so you might get caught sooner of later."
He was right, the blonde is in fact here as well. If people see him, they'd immediately recognize him. Though Mafu probably knew this very well, the ravennette had guessed that the angel wanted to try newer things without anyone having possible fear of him. Especially of they find out that he's on Luz's side. The side of a Lord who's taken away countless lives before.
Even so though, the younger started to move up front before looking back at his friend, "You're right... But it's worth trying don't you think?" The expression from the ruby-eyed male had yet again, caught the swordsman off guard. For some reason, there was just something about him that caused the older to simply agree with whatever the other said. Was it the determined tone?
Was it his expression? What was it?
Snapping out of his thoughts, he simply gave a nod, "Sure. If you think you can pull it off, go ahead." He said, smiling to the other ever so slightly as he began to walk down the hall before seeing a few of their good friends.
"Ah, good morning you two~ Did you two sleep well?" Amatsuki asked as he started setting down the plates. Though of course the other brunette was there, for he was always helping his dear beloved in the kitchen. But from looking over at the wooden table, he noticed Sou and Eve already sitting down. The two turned to both of them as well before giving off a gave. Of course smiling, they returned the wave before stating their good morning's to each other. Of course Soraru though was the first to respond to Amatsuki's question without any problem.
"We did, what about the rest for you?"
Sou gave a happy nod before pulling the male next to him, "We did! Right?" He asked before Eve could only give a nod for response. Though the silence was still there, they could still tell that Eve was excited for the day as well. Before anything though, the brown-eyed male pull two of the wooden chairs as he then gestured towards both Mafu and Soraru, "Well-? Aren't you both going to eat? Me and Amatsuki prepared breakfast after all."
"Oh right! We're sorry!" Mafu said before quickly sitting down, though compared to him, the ravennette had taken his time to sit down, not wanting to accidentally fall over like a certain angel. Because it has indeed happened once where the younger male would just quickly sit down without giving it a thought most times.
And had he learned his lesson?
Obviously not-
Seeing the plates in front of them, they gave their thanks to the two males before they began to eat their meals. The food was well, once again amazing as ever. Though it was expected, the cooking was made from the motherly brunette himself after all. Though of course from the help of Kashitarou. So whenever it came to cooking and such, the two would always make the best dishes while still keeping the kitchen clean. It was truly a miracle that the two could do that, especially for the number of people like themselves.
But even so, each and every bite they took from the food, made them know that the two really did make the food out of love for the group. Just them thinking about it truly made the group thankful for the two males even more. They were really the parents of the group, giving them all the love and support they could for them. It was something that made them smile.
But even so, when they finished eating, they couldn't help but want more. There was just something about it that made the food so special. Though that question, was most likely answered when they didin't even realize it.
"Are you going with us?"
The red-eyed brunette could only give a gentle smile before patting the male a pat on the head, "Mafu-kun... Today me and Kashi have a few things to do since Lon had requested us to talk to her." He explained, not wanting the other to have a sad expression.
"Not only that though, a certain someone today has to be scolded after all." The other male said, being Kashitarou. Though Sou was well, confused on who it could exactly be. Might as well ask right?
"Eh? Did one of us do something?"
Giving a nod, Kashitarou decided to give it away, "It's a certain Tanuki." He said, hinting that it was the green-eyed brunette. "He never helped Amatsuki and Lon last night when he was supposed to. Though I'm sure he had his reasons." Understanding, the male then turned to his three friends who were currently at the doorway.
The red-eyed brunette then gave a all wave as he unconsciously clinged onto Kashitarou's arm gently. "Well~ Enjoy your day! So please take all the time you need to explore, no one's stopping any of you guys." He said, giving a small chuckle before the males gave them a smile as well.
"We will, and good luck with Long and the Tanuki." Soraru said before the brown-eyed male could simply laugh little from the ravennette's words, "Of course, you should know how well we handle things by now Soraru-san."
"Mhm~ We've also been the ones to make sure you and everyone else we're always alright since we were kids, remember?"
"Right, right. You have a point." He said, grinning towards the two before the two excited friends behind him we're already dragging Eve along with them, "C'mon Soraru-san! We can't wait all day you know~" The certain angel said, looking back at him before he and the other two began to wave towards the two brunettes as well.
"Alright, alright, let's go. But why don't you both let go of Eve? Poor guy seems to be dragged around at this point." He said, patting the two on the head. Though of course, both Sou and Mafumafu had let him go, letting the masked male stand on his own. Never had he known how strong the two could be sometimes. But even so, the friends had then set off along the trail, walking to see what the village holds.
The trail leading to the center of the village wasn't as bad, everything had such a beautiful structure and the plants had seemed to be well taken care of. This was a very big plus for them, and to be fair, the area had seemed a bit more nicer than from Suzumu's village area. Well sure, his village was mostly turning into a town at this point but somehow, everything here had seemed more natural. And the more they had walked, the more they had gotten to see what awaited them.
"I think that's it!" Sou exclaimed, beaming a smile as he and the angel went ahead. Running up ahead before Soraru could say anything, the two friends had stood there past the beautiful structured bridge to see the villagers in nice clothing, and quite a few villagers were wearing yukatas. Of course, makes sense. At this time, the season is quite warm, so it only makes sense why there was a few enjoying their time at the moment.
Though as the four began to look around, they wondered where to go now. Should they see the shops? A few special locations perhaps? Though it already looked like Eve had his interest. The male was already timidly walking over to a shop holding a few books. Chuckling a little at the sight, Sou had then turned to the two older males, "Looks like he already found something that caught his interest~ I'll go ahead and stay with him, you guys have fun!" He said, giving an innocent wave at the two friends.
Mafu simply gave a happy nod, "Alright then, have fun you two~" And he did, Sou had went along with Eve, though Soraru hoped that they'll meet up again with them soon. He hoped to talk to them a bit more after all. Though today, it looks like they'll have to do all they can or enjoy this wonderful day.
"Ah- Hey... Eh? What are you looking at?" Sou asked, trying to see which book the masked male was trying to read. From the cover of the book, it seemed as if it were a very specific type of book, but a recipe book. More so for baking for the least. Eve had probably wanted to improve his baking skills, or perhaps learn even more. The light haired blonde could only smile at the thought of his friend wanting to improve more.
Eve had then pointed at the book before looking up at Sou with a determined voice, "I-I want to buy it so I can improve even more...!" He said, accidentally catching the younger off guard. Somehow the action he made had made the blue-eyed male's heart skip a beat. He then simply smiled gently before patting his head, "I'm sure you will... I'll be rooting for you!"
Eve simply turned his head away, feeling a little flustered before. He felt the others hands gently take the recipe book. Feeling confused, he looked to see that male's eyes before Sou gave him his usual gentle calm smile. Before the older could say anything, Sou had went ahead and walked over to the villagers who was selling the wanted item.
"Excuse me, may I buy this book?"
Honestly, hearing this made the seller smile in a kind manner, clearly glad that someone had went along to buy one of his items, "Of course you may sir." He said, having the little conversation with the petite male. In the end, Sou had indeed kept his word and bought the book.
"Sou-kun... You really didint have to."
"But Eve-san, you deserve it, really. Someone just as kind and thoughtful like you, always giving us something whenever someone is down, or even when it's a regular day." He explained, wanting his dear friend to just know that he deserved really anything. Or perhaps this was the way that Sou thought. Ever since he had met the older male, he for some reason found every action from him endearing in a way that as if only he could see.
He couldn't really say anything, and at this point, he was a very flustered mess from the younger's words. But he then gave a quick bow towards Sou before he spoke out his words, "T-Thank you, Sou-kun... I'm truly thankful."
"Of course, and I hope your wish on improving comes true Eve-san."
Wanting to say something else, the blue-eyed male then gently led the older with him with a smile, "Well? Why don't we both continue exploring together? We have the whole day after all." He was right, they did. And to be fair, Eve himself was happy about that.
He wanted to spend more time with Sou. He wanted to talk to him even more, he wanted to stay close. He didint know why exactly. There was just something about Sou that confused his heart. He felt calm, he felt warm and fuzzy whenever the male would help him or even do the simplest thing. But then, why did he feel the bits of pain in his chest? Just, why?
Snapping out of his thoughts, he had just realized that the two were already walking together unconsciously. But even so, he didint mind this. If he was near Sou, nothing else mattered at the moment. He has nothing else of desire but stay close to the younger male.
So all he could do was smile under his mask, whispering a brief word.
"Thank you..."
"Oi! Mafu don't just run off!" Soraru yelled, calling out to the angel in front of him. He could've sworn he was running after a child for a second instead of a young adult. Of course, he shouldn't of just turned around to look at the scenery because the next moment, the albino was just simply gone. And right now, he really didint want to lose his dear friend.
"But Soraru-san, look!" He said, pointing down from the bridge to show a few colorful fishes from underneath them. The water was crystal clear for the two to see but even though the sight was nice, he received a gentle smack from the older.
"It's nice, but please. Don't just run off."
"Eh~ Was Soraru-san worried about me?" He said in a joking tone. But yet again was another smack received to the head. "Of course not. I'm only saying that so I don't get killed by Luz if he found out that I lost you."
Understandable, the blonde was overprotective of the albino still. Especially now in villages because of what had happened the last time Mafu went alone without him. Except this time, it was different since the swordsman was with him.
Mafu only pouted, "I mean... True~ But don't just smack me out of nowhere! I'm a delicate angel you know!"
"Right... You're so delicate that you're still so powerful enough to leave such a large wound with a scythe. And even have enough force to kick someone so harshly. You're so delicate indeed."
Weakly punching the older on the arm, the albino could only let out a huff. But of course, the ravennette could only let out a chuckle. "Anyways, why don't you wait here? I'm going to at least get something for the both of us, so it won't take very long." He explained before the albino could happily nod.
While Soraru had left off, the albino smiled before turning to look down towards the clear water, viewing the color fishes. Oh how much he loved this side of the land, everyone who had came up to him and the swordsman had been ever so kind to them. They had even recommended a few spots for them to visit, and even a few shops. The atmosphere here was so calm, so welcoming, unlike Suzumu's village.
After waiting a few more minutes, the familiar male had came back, except with two candied apples. One for him and the other for which Mafu guessed was for him.
"Here, I went ahead and bought them since one of the villagers recommended it from before." He said, gently handing the red sweet to the albino. Of course though, the angel happily accepted it with a smile. "Thank you, Soraru-san. You really are sweet y'know~"
Hearing this only made the older to turn away after feeling his face starting to warm up. Though it was difficult after he then heard the sweet giggle that had come from the angel.
Odd, he really did hate the younger male when they had first met. At first, the angel had not only threatened him, but had left him a huge wound which Sou had to heal. But after time had passed, he supposed the annoying albino wasn't too bad after all.
He then felt his arm gently pulled from his dear friend, "Soraru-san look! Look! Let's go over here, that's one of the spots the villagers recommended us from before!" He exclaimed, though not even bothering to take his arm away, Soraru merely grinned.
"Then lead the way, Mafu."
Well then~ So- I didint expect myself to actually fall asleep so early yesterday when I arrived home to finish the chapter ww
But sadly- I turned out that I had written the wrong chapter for this story, and so I had to rewrite it today. Which had taken a lot longer today than I had expected it to be. Though of course, I won't let this happen again because it really did put me a little behind today ww
Anyways~ I hope I wrote this chapter well today for you all! Thank you everyone for reading, and stay safe!
