It Wasn't Just a Drunken Night- Chapter 21

A/N:

Hello internet! I haven't written for the last week. Oops. Sorry, tests were just in the way of my free time and my sleep schedule got screwed up. I literally came home and fell asleep at 4:00pm on Thursday and woke up at 1:00am and then spent the rest of the day awake. I pretty much went through jetlag without actually moving anywhere. Anyways I'm back, and now you can enjoy Chapter 21 of It Wasn't Just a Drunken Night!

One Month Later

Dan's POV (For like the 5th time in a row)

I walked out into the couch to find Charlie and Christian eating each other’s faces off and covered my eyes while making an exaggerated grossed out sound. “Guys! You just take every chance you get, don’t you‽” I groaned as they jumped off each other and chuckled with red cheeks.

I shook my head and walked over to the exit of the flat while fixing my hair and slipping on my shoes. “Well luck you,” I laughed as I grabbed my keys, “I’m going to Starbucks for a little to relax without having to be a third wheel.” Christian hid his head in the crook of Charlie’s neck as he looked down, probably feeling guilty for leaving me out while he was with Christian.

I didn’t mind though, I actually wanted some coffee anyways. Besides, if Charlie got to spend time with Christian then I was happy. Ever since the two of them met, Charlie had been acting much differently, most likely showing his real personality. After the two of them got together about a week ago, Charlie was one of the best roommates I could’ve asked for. That is if you didn’t count Phil.

My heart stung as Phil came back into my mind and I felt my eyes tear up a bit. I must’ve zoned out because I felt Charlie put his arm on my shoulder as he looked at me with concern in his eyes. “Are you okay?” Charlie asked as he moved back from me, putting his hand back at his side. I took in a deep breath as if I wasn’t breathing for several minutes and nodded my head. “Yeah, I must’ve zoned out for a minute,” I huffed, blinking away the wetness that formed in my eyes.

“No Dan,” I looked up at Charlie with confusion, “I mean are you okay? I haven’t even asked how you were doing with Phil and everything.” I shrugged and looked down at the ground, the tears coming back to the surface of my eyes. I looked back up and noticed that Charlie was looking down at the ground, feeling guilty for what he had done a month ago. “Look Charlie,” I made him look at me, “I’m okay. Don’t feel bad for what you did and all, it’s honestly okay.” Charlie smiled lightly and nodded before walking back to cuddle with Christian. I looked at the two of them before I felt a tear run down my cheek and I dashed out of the flat.

More tears began to spill out of my eyes as I wiped my face furiously with my arm. To be honest, I never forgot about Phil, it was actually quite the opposite. I still loved Phil just as much as I did a month ago and I never changed my feelings about him. I just kept my feelings bottled up inside me so I didn’t have to make Charlie feel guilty. But, now that I began crying and let out my emotions, all of my feelings were pouring out and they weren’t going to stop.

I walked out of the building, feeling the wind on my face as I sniffled quietly. It was late and dark outside so the leftover of the pedestrians wouldn’t be able to make out that I was crying. I began walking along the sidewalk, keeping my hands in my pocket and my head down low as tears slowly rolled down my cheeks.

I walked into the almost empty coffee shop and wiped my face, trying to make it look like I wasn’t crying as much as possible. I looked around the store, observing the few people who were left inside the shop. A girl was writing something while sipping on her drink, a man in a suit was ordering his beverage as he looked like he was heading to a night shift for his job, and a red headed guy about my age or a few years younger was sitting in the far back corner of the store and skyping with someone on his mac.

I realized that I was just standing there and looking around the store like an idiot so I quickly walked towards the counter. I stood behind the man in the suit and waited for him to finish his order before I walked up to a girl about my age behind the register. “What would you like,” she asked, sounding exhausted but immediately perking up at the sight of me. I raised my eyebrow at her before telling her my order and my name and waiting awkwardly for my drink to come.

She came back with the cup and handed it to me with a flirtatious smile on her face, “There you go, Dan.” I took the drink and gave her a smile, “Thank you—what’s your name?” “Emma.” “Thank you, Emma.”

I turned around and headed towards the back of the store, looking for a seat that wasn’t too close to the red headed guy. I sat in a seat two seats away from the guy and took a sip out of my cup, looking up to find Emma staring at me. She noticed I had caught her and quickly turned around and made herself look like she was cleaning up the counter. I shook my head and slipped out phone, scrolling through twitter and tumblr.

Eventually I heard the closing of a laptop and looked up to see the redheaded boy get up and walk in my direction. He sat down next to me and looked at me for a minute before talking. "You know my friend over there,” he pointed at Emma, “It’s pretty fucking obvious she’s into you.” I rolled my eyes, obviously not wanting anyone but Phil at the moment. “Thanks but I’m not really looking for a relationship,” I mumbled, trying not to sound like I was about to cry again.”

“Just got out of a relationship, huh?” the guys probably read my expression. I nodded, “It’s kind of complicated.” The guy nodded and took out his hand to shake mine. As I grabbed his hand he smiled, “I’m Luke. Now how about you tell me your name and what’s on your mind.” I looked at him with an unsure look as I took my hand away from his. “Don’t worry, I won’t rape you,” he laughed, “You just seem like you need someone right now.” I nodded before telling him my name and the whole story between Phil and me, starting all the way from when I was still with Jenna.

I didn’t know why I was telling this guy I just met all of this but he seemed like a genuine person and I decided to trust him. He didn’t speak the entire time I was talking and just nodded his head every once in a while. After I was done, I realized that the tears came back and were already soaking my cheeks. I quickly wiped my face and looked down the seat.

Luke put his hand on my back and patted it to comfort me. “Look, he said give it some time,” he whispered, “He’s bound to turn up soon.” I shook my head as I continued to look down, “It’s been a whole month since he’s said that. He probably found someone new and way better already.” I looked up at Luke who was shaking his head in disagreement.

“A few years ago my best friend Jason and I realized we both had feelings for each other and we became a couple,” he began to tell a story, “But, we soon began to grow distant between one another and I found out that Jason was cheating on me with someone he met online. We broke up immediately and when Jason explained everything and asked for me back all I said was that I needed some time. We didn’t talk for two whole months before I realized how much I needed him in my life and we got back together. Now he and I haven’t been any closer and we both love each other dearly.”

“Where is this going,” I muttered, feeling annoyed and slightly jealous that Luke was able to rekindle his love with Jason even after what happened. “I’m just saying that if you guys were so close for such a long time, he’s bound to turn up,” he sighed before getting up. I shrugged and looked up at him as he threw out his cup. “Anyways, I’m going to go,” he smiled, “I hope everything works out for you.” He headed towards the door and Emma soon caught up with him, flashing a smile back at me. “Thanks!” I quickly yelled, knowing he probably didn’t hear me.

I sat around for a while and observed the new cashier who took over Emma’s shift as I finished the rest of my beverage. I soon got up off the seat and threw away the cup and turned to walk towards the door. I took out my phone and decided to send Charlie a warning text just in case he and Christian were doing anything that I didn’t want to see. I’m coming home, be there in like ten minutes. Better not be fucking when I get there >.>.

I giggled lightly at myself before Charlie quickly sent a message back to me. Oh shut up! >:( I read over the message and chuckled before bumping into something and falling over onto the floor. “Sorry,” I mumbled, realizing I bumped into a person. I reached for my phone and shoved it into my pocket before hearing the most familiar voice. “It’s okay,” I heard the person say as their voice filled my heart with sadness. I got up and looked into the beautiful icy blue eyes in front of me.

Phil.
