"Azzy! Hurry up! We're going to be late!"

"Wait up! I can't run that fast!"

Princess Chara and Prince Asriel ran through one of the castle corridors. They each had a sort of package clutched tight to their chests. It was the yearly tea party their mom held in the castle ballroom for just their family. Their father took the day off of his king duties to have fun family time. The young prince and princess spent the morning making a sugary butterscotch pie and hand making flower crowns from golden flowers.

From an alcove in the corridor, a migosp watched the children with unfiltered, unadulterated rage and hatred. After the war, life was pointless. She lost everything to the wretched humans on the surface and now the royal family had a human parasite in their care. She had watched her family be dusted by the repulsive humans who claimed victory over them. A rusted and cracked blade in hand, she charged out of her hiding spot and toward the princess.

"Chara!"

Asriel caught up to his sister in a hurry and covered her body with his own. Before the blade could get anywhere near the royal children, a separate, pristine blade intercepted it and broke it in half. The children were shielded by two figures cloaked in black garb with white and purple accents. Their faces were obscured by low hoods and mesh mouth guards.

The figure that stood in front of the fallen migosp was a little shorter than the prince and princess and their right sleeve was embellished with a gold cuff. The figure next to them was taller by a solid two feet and their right sleeve held a silver cuff.

The gold cuffed figure's voice was soft, but held great authority. Both figures protecting the children helped them stand and walked with them out of the corridor.

"Captain?"

"knock her out."

The silver cuffed figure slammed the butt of their sword into the migosp's head and she fell to the ground with the audible sound of her Hp going down.

The captain removed their hood and pulled their mouth guard down to reveal the skull of a young skeleton with a pensive frown and calculating eyelights.

Sans - "send this one to the judgment hall."

Two separate figures in the same garb appeared from the shadows and disappeared once more with the unconscious migosp.

Kris - "Captain, are you really going to retire? You're only ten, you could still be our captain for another fifty years!"

Sans - "kris, i want to spend time with my family before i really need to work. papyrus needs a skeleton present to teach him stuff when dad's busy with work. besides, you'll be my replacement."

Kris - "I don't think I'd be a good captain though! Suzie or-or Ralsei would be more fit than a hybrid freak!"

Sans hugged Kris tightly.

Sans - "kris, you are no more a freak than i am. 25% monster or not, you are a resident of the underground. If you posed any kind of a threat to the royal family or the other monsters, i would've dusted you personally."

Kris - "I don't doubt that. Certainly strong enough."

Sans - "i am. i'm also the best judge of character. you're a good person kris. don't let anyone tell you otherwise. and with that,"

Sans let out a low, quick, one-note whistle and a bulkier figure appeared.

Sans - "suzie, i know you'll do well as kris's deputy and when you take over as captain after kris, ralsei will make a good deputy to you. i leave my captain duties to you. have a good evening."

Sans took off his Deltarune uniform and handed the captains band to Kris. He gave both of them a smile and left the corridor.

(IN THE JUDGMENT HALL)

"it's a beautiful day outside, pal. You targeted the young prince asriel and the young princess chara. buddy, you're gonna have a bad time."

Sans - "hi grillby!"

The older Fire Elemental paused in his movements. Baby-Bones Papyrus was sitting in his highchair happily babbling about everything he saw. He couldn't really speak, but not for lack of effort, he's a very vocal toddler.

Grillby - "Sans, Starlight, welcome back. Did you have a fun time outside?"

Sans - "yeah, tons! hi papy! You being good for grillby?"

Papyrus - "Nyeh bah ne pa Sns!"

Sans - "d'aww, your too cute paps! Thanks for watching him grillby. dad doesn't get out til late. can i have my usual to go?"

Grillby - "Of course Sans, remember to take care of yourself too. I don't mind having either of you over for the day to simply relax. You know I love you both dearly, Starlight."

Sans - "i know, and don't worry grillby, i take great care of myself! i'm going to be the greatest bar owner with the coolest look bar ever! i'ma run you outta business! then i'll graciously offer you a job and you'll live out you're days in comfort!"

Grillby - "I look forward to it Starlight."

Sans smiled cheekily and hugged Grillby goodbye as he took his doggie bag and held Papyrus awkwardly. They stumbled their way back to their house on the outskirts of Snowdin.
