The Cat's out of the Bag
Marinette skipped patrol that night. And for the next week. She felt too ashamed and embarrassed. Tikki scolded her for this, so Marinette agreed to show up for Friday's patrol. One week exactly after she found out she was pregnant.
She still wasn't sure what to do. Or how to tell Adrien (as Ladybug at least). She hadn't mentioned it to Alya at all. Adrien had been kind to her that week. First thing he did when he saw her on Monday was ask her how she was. It made her heart race but also feel heavy with guilt. Throughout the rest of the week, he gave her small reassuring words.
She didn't know if that made things better or worse.
Marinette stared blankly at herself in the mirror. She glanced down at her belly before her eyes started watering. She needed to tell Chat. She wasn't sure at what point she'd have to give up her miraculous, and it was better he knew sooner than later.
She hadn't decided if she was going to go through with the pregnancy or not, or if she'd keep the baby or put them up for adoption. She figured she needed to talk to Adrien properly before making such a huge decision.
Marinette quietly called out her transformation. She felt tears run down her cheeks. She knew she would only temporarily give up her miraculous if she went through with the pregnancy, but the thought of being apart from Tikki broke her heart.
She wiped her tears away and made sure she looked somewhat presentable.
As she made her way to their meet-up spot, she couldn't help but wonder what Chat would say. Would he judge her? Would he be upset that she'd have to pass on Ladybug's duties to someone else?
He was already there when she arrived. She expected him to be upset at her for not showing up for the past week, but he looked worried upon seeing her.
Ladybug landed a few feet away from him. Chat Noir turned his whole body to face her.
"Why haven't you shown up for patrol?" he asked quietly. "Is there something going on in your life? You left so quickly, too, after battles."
Ladybug's eyes began to water again. She desperately wanted to hold back her tears, but she started crying the moment Chat took a step toward her. He rushed to her, pulling her into a hug. Ladybug hugged back tightly.
"Ladybug, what's going on? What's wrong? Please, tell me," he said, now extremely worried.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," she cried.
Chat pulled back to look at her. "Sorry for what? Ladybug, please, look at me."
Ladybug shook her head, refusing to look up at him.
"Ladybug, please-"
"I'm pregnant," she blurted out.
Chat froze, his eyes widening.
"I-I found out last week, last Friday," she sobbed.
Chat got a strange sense of Deja Vu but decided to ignore it.
"Y-you're pregnant?" he finally spoke.
Ladybug was pregnant. He slept with Ladybug. Could it be..?
She nodded, now quietly sobbing.
"Who... who's the father?" he asked.
Ladybug finally looked up at him with a frown, "I can't tell you that."
Chat's heart pounded. There was a huge possibility that he was the father.
"Is there more than one possibility?"
Ladybug glared at him and shoved him away from her.
"What the hell, Chat?"
"W-wait, no! I-I didn't mean it like that. Oh my gosh, that was so rude to ask. I promise you Ladybug, I didn't mean it in a bad way," he spoke quickly, realizing his mistake. "I'm so sorry."
"No, there's only one possible father," she muttered, not wanting to look at him.
It was him. He was the father.
He got Ladybug pregnant.
Sensing that Chat wasn't going to say anything, Ladybug continued. "Tikki says I'll have to give up being Ladybug for some time if I go through with the pregnancy."
This snapped Chat out of his trance.
"If?"
"I-I haven't decided yet; I haven't even told the father," she muttered.
"Are you going to?" he asked nervously.
She nodded, "I have to, he needs to know."
Chat didn't know what to say.
"I-I don't want to talk about this anymore, please. I just wanted to tell you that I might stop being Ladybug for some time."
He could only nod.
"I already know someone trustworthy, she'll do a great job," her eyes began to water again.
Chat walked up to her, pulling her into another hug. He got another strange sense of Deja Vu.
"Whatever you decided to do, I'll support you, Ladybug. We're a team."
Ladybug smiled and hugged back.
"Thanks, kitty."
.
Adrien sat on his bed. He stared down at the floor, trying to process everything that happened earlier.
"Ladybug's pregnant," he muttered. "I got Ladybug pregnant."
She said there was only one possibility, meaning it had to be him. The timing matched up. It had only been a few weeks since he slept with her.
"Smooth move, Romeo," Plagg chuckled.
Adrien shot him a glare, "Plagg, this is serious."
Adrien buried his face into his hands.
"Fuck," he cursed under his breath. "Father's going to kill me when he finds out."
"Don't worry about that now," Plagg rolled his eyes. "You have to talk to Ladybug first."
What if she decided to go through with the pregnancy? She said she'd had to give up being Ladybug. Would that mean he'd find out her identity? They couldn't raise a child together if he didn't know who she was. His heart raced at the idea of knowing who Ladybug is.
But if she didn't?
Did he want her to go through with it? As much as it terrified him, the thought of having a baby with Ladybug excited him. But at the same time, he didn't want to force her to do anything she didn't want to.
All he knew, is that whatever she decided, he'd be with her every step of the way.
They had some time to think about it. She couldn't be too far along, he figured. She only found out last Friday.
Last Friday.
Wait.
Didn't Marinette find out she was pregnant that day too?
Adrien frowned. It had to be a coincidence, right?
He didn't know how far along Marinette was. They just so happened to find out the same day. It had to be a coincidence.
But, what if it wasn't?
What are the odds both Ladybug and Marinette found of they were pregnant on the same day?
Adrien shook his head. He was thinking too deeply about it. He didn't know Marinette's life. He barely knew anything about her pregnancy. She hadn't told him anything since he first found out.
As a matter of fact, it seemed like she was avoiding him. He tried reassuring her and giving her words of encouragement during school, but she would only awkwardly smile before darting away.
Still, Adrien couldn't shake the strange feeling away.
It wouldn't hurt if he tried talking to Marinette about her pregnancy, right? As far as he knew, he was the only one to know she was pregnant.
Surely she needs the support from a dear friend.
