Ch. 44 Finally Safe

"You're an embarrassment to Latinos everywhere. Can't believe she chose you."

Alvarez's words still rang through Juice's head as he rode back to TM. The Sons had officially made a deal with the Mayans, and Marcus had given him his cut back. Making that snide comment as he handed it over. Juice knew he was talking about Angela when he said it. Knew it must hurt that his son was dead, and she'd moved on. The comment had initially stung, but the more he thought about it, the less he cared. Marcus was right, she'd chosen him. She didn't have to. She could've easily gone back to Esai when he was still alive, but she'd chosen him. It was a thought he held onto in moments of doubt, a notion she herself had reiterated more than once.

His hands ached, but it wasn't from the beat down he'd received from the Calaveras members when they took his cut. This time, his hands ached from the beat down he'd returned to that Calaveras asshole. It was a good kind of hurt, one that made him feel proud. He'd defended himself and earned his cut back.

It'd been an eventful day, and he was riding back to Elena and Graciela's house flanking Hap, Koz on Hap's other side. The weight of his cut on his shoulders was comfortable, familiar. It'd only been gone for a day, but he hadn't felt like himself without it. All he needed was Angela back and everything would be okay again.

They pulled up in front of the house, all three of them parking beside each other in a neat little line. Juice glanced at Kozik, fidgeting nervously as he watched him take off his helmet. He'd asked for Hap, Elena, and Graciela's blessing to propose, but he hadn't had a chance to ask Koz. He knew how much Koz meant to Angela. How he was family to her. It didn't seem right not to get his blessing as well. As they headed towards the door together, he cleared his throat. "Koz, hold up," he said, before they got to the door.

He and Hap both stopped at the threshold. Koz raised his eyebrows at him. "What d'ya need, Juicer?"

"I um...I got a question," he replied, barely catching Hap's smirk before he hid it. Instead, the Tacoma killer stood against the door, arms crossed over his chest, an amused look on his face. Juice ignored him and continued, "I love Angela..."

The corner of Kozik's mouth turned up into a smirk. "I'm aware."

"Right," he murmured under his breath. "And I...I..."

"Idiot wants to propose," Happy filled in. Juice was surprised that he'd cut him off, but the Happy just shrugged. " 'm hungry. Ain't gonna wait forever for you to make that whole speech again. He loves her. Wants to propose. Think he wants your blessin'."

"No shit?" Kozik stated, his smirk turning into a grin. At Juice's nod, he slapped him on the back. "Hell yeah. 's about damn time. You got a ring?"

Juice nodded, letting out a long breath just as Hap's phone went off. "Yeah. Graci gave me hers."

"Kid's gonna love that," Kozik said, squeezing his shoulder. "Said the two of you were meant to be from day one. Didn't I, Hap?"

Happy was on the phone and ignored the question. "All right. Yeah. We'll get our shit together. Thanks, brotha," he said before hanging up the phone. A rare smile pulled up the corners of his mouth. "Pack your shit. We leave tomorrow. Belfast. Oswald's gettin' us on one of his cargo planes."

Juice's heart leapt in his chest. He was finally going to get his girl back. Be able to see her, hold her. "Really?" he asked, trying not to jump for joy like an excited kid.

Hap nodded before he frowned. "Means we're gonna miss our hearin' though."

"Fuck, man," Kozik muttered, shaking his head and running a hand through his hair.

"What does that mean?" Juice asked, surprised by Kozik's reaction. He'd been to juvie before, but the gun charge was his first experience with a serious charge.

"Fleeing the country before a hearing? Means you're all most likely going back inside. Probably for a hell of a lot longer than you should be," Koz explained on a sigh. "Your Ma and the kid are gonna be pissed."

"Only option is we don't go, 'n' we go to the hearin'," Happy stated before shrugging. "Still might mean jail time."

Juice felt like a dark cloud moved in front of his sunshine. He was finally going to get Angela back. He was going to propose, all for him to just go back inside? "No," he breathed, shaking his head. "No, we can't...Angel and I...we're supposed to...I'm gonna propose."

"Wedding's gonna have to wait," Happy said with another shrug. He went for the front door before turning around to glare at the other two. "Don't say anythin' to Ma or Graci yet. We'll figure that shit out later. Focus on getting the kid."

Kozik nodded in agreement. "One thing at a time."

Juice watched them walk in as in inhaled deeply. He couldn't believe he was so close to getting everything he ever wanted, and now, he'd have to leave it all to be caged inside a prison for who knew how long. It didn't feel right. Didn't feel fair. With a heavy heart, he walked back into the house trying to focus on getting Angela back and less on the prison sentence that was looming over his head.

Angela paced the small room, familiar with every inch of it. She wasn't sure what time it was or how long she'd been there, but she'd spent most of her time doing push ups and sit ups. She wasn't going to sit there and cry all day. She had to keep strong, stay active. She wouldn't let them break her spirit. That's what Hap would've done, what he always taught her to do. Push through it. Get strong. Don't let them see you weak. She ate what they gave her and stayed quiet when they came in. She'd memorized every face that came in, though she didn't speak to them other than asking where Abel was. They never answered her though. She was convinced they'd all had their tongues cut out.

Mentally, she'd fantasized about attacking the guys that brought her food. Hiding in the corner of the room and jumping them once they stepped inside. Escaping the room and making a run for it. She knew that wasn't smart, though. They'd shoot her without even a second thought. Yes, they were being decent to her as a captive, but she was under no delusions that these men really cared. If needed, they'd gun her down before she could escape. So she was biding her time until some decision was made. If they decided to get violent, she was going to be strong enough to go down fighting. She'd fight tooth and nail to get back to her happy life with Juice. There was no way she was going to let them take her life away from her. Not when she'd worked so hard to get to where she was.

So she pushed on, getting down on the ground to do push ups until her arms ached. She was determined to keep fighting. She wanted to live. She was going get back to Juice, find Abel. That's what she fighting for.

Juice tilted his head back against the cold metal of the side of the cargo plane. He'd been impressed by how massive the thing was and then quickly realized there were no real seats. They were in for an uncomfortable ten hour flight. He hadn't told anyone, but it was his first time on an airplane in general. Everywhere he'd traveled in the past had been on a train, bus, car, or motorcycle. He'd never flown. He wished it was under better circumstances, and he could enjoy it. His mind went back to one New Year's Eve back in New York when he'd told Angela he'd show her the world. That he'd take her anywhere she wanted to go. And he'd meant it. Maybe once he was done with all the prison shit, he'd take her on a honeymoon. Somewhere tropical and fun where they could spend the day on the beach just relaxing.

"You excited to get your girl back?" Gemma asked, sitting down next to him.

He smiled at the idea of having Angela back in his arms and nodded. "Been too long. Miss her," he admitted softly. "Hope she's okay."

She patted his arm lovingly. "She will be, baby," she assured him. " 'm grateful for what she did to protect Abel. Still can't really wrap my head around it. Didn't know she cared so much."

Juice hadn't been surprised by Angela's drive to help Abel. When Angela loved, she loved hard. Would do anything for the people she loved even at the risk of her own life. "Yeah, she loves Abel. Would never have just watched him leave without a fight."

"That's where she and Tara differ, I guess," Gemma muttered more to herself than him. "Angie's a good girl. Glad she's stuck around."

He nodded slowly, looking around the plane. Most of his brothers were passed out. Some on little pads on the floor, some strapped into their seats. No one was paying them any attention, so he leaned in closer to her and said, "Gonna propose to her actually."

"No shit," she said on a chuckle. "She pregnant?"

Juice's eyes widened as he shook his head. "What? N-no. She's not...I just...I want to...I want to be her husband. I want the title. I want the...the forever. Til death 'n' all that."

Gemma's hazel eyes warmed, her smile growing. "Good for you, sweetheart. Think that's a real smart idea. You make a cute couple," she said, nudging his shoulder with hers. "My advice? Don't do it overseas. Do it at home. Somethin' memorable. Belfast is gonna have shit memories for her."

"Y-yeah. Hadn't really thought that part through," he stated, his cheeks heating up in embarrassment. How had he that thought never crossed his mind? He knew he didn't want to do it in Belfast, but he hadn't thought of where he was going to do it at home.

Gemma snorted, shaking her head. "You even get a ring?"

Juice nodded slowly. He'd left the ring locked in his locker at the clubhouse. He'd been too afraid to take it with him on the trip. It was priceless and unique. If he lost it, he'd never forgive himself. "Yeah. Got the ring, got the blessings. Just need to...do it now, I guess. She won't want a big show of things, just something simple between the two of us."

"Sounds right up Angie's alley," she murmured, patting his back reassuringly. "You gonna put a crow on her too?"

He shrugged a shoulder; that was on Angela. He knew she had a problem with the idea of getting branded, and he'd never force her to get the tattoo. Honestly, he didn't really like the idea that it marked her as belonging to the club. She didn't belong to the club, she belonged to him. "Up to her. She's kinda...particular about her tattoos."

"She even have any?"

With a smirk, he nodded. He could picture the brilliant orange and yellow koi on her hip with its vibrant blue waves and pink cherry blossoms. It was a beautiful tattoo that he'd been obsessed with ever since she first got it. He'd rarely gotten small glimpses of it in New York but now that they were together, he knew just how soft that skin was, what it tasted like. The idea alone had his blood boiling. "Just one. Hap did it. 's beautiful."

"Makes sense. Hap's got a gift with that tattoo machine. Can't imagine he'd be too pleased with you putting a crow on her," she said, almost as if she was baiting him.

Juice wasn't really sure what she wanted. It seemed like she wanted him to tell her he didn't care what Happy thought or get so protective of her that he pushed Hap away. That wasn't what he wanted. He respected Hap; he was part of their little family. He would never come between the two of them. "It's up to her," he repeated with a little shrug.

Gemma seemed pleased with his answer. She leaned over to kiss his temple. "You're going to make that girl very happy, baby."

He couldn't help but smile at the compliment. "Hope so," he replied before sighing heavily. "Just gotta get her back first."

~'~'~'~'~'~~'~'~'~'~'~~'~'~'~'~'~~'~'~'~'~'~~'~'~'~'~'~

Angela was staring at the ceiling, trying to form imaginary shapes in the water stains on it. She'd already run through her routine of push-ups and sit-ups, thrown in some burpees. Anything to take her mind off her situation. She wasn't quite sure what time it was; time seemed to move strangely slowly in that tiny room. She heard the lock click and raised an eyebrow; it felt a little early for lunch. She sat up, scooting to the edge of the bed, wondering who would be bringing her lunch today.

To her surprise, a dark-skinned woman with wild curly hair poked her head in before fully entering the room. Angela looked her over, wondering where the hell she had come from and what she was doing there.

"Jeez. You're a young one, aren't ya? Can't be much older than my daughter," she said in a heavily accented voice, closing the door behind her and leaning against the wall beside it. "Names Fiona. Chibs' wife."

Angela furrowed her brow; she hadn't known Chibs had a wife. Honestly, she didn't know much about him at all. "Angela," she rasped, looking down at her hands. Her nail polish was chipped, fingers dirty. She couldn't remember the last time she'd had a shower. She cleared her throat before asking the one question she asked anyone who entered, "Where's Abel?"

"Oh, I wouldn't worry about him, love," Fiona replied which made Angela believe she really didn't know. "You're safe though. Gonna take ye to the SAMBEL clubhouse. SAMCRO's already there."

Her heart skipped a beat; SAMCRO was there. Hope filled her, and she bit back the urge to smile. The Sons would be able to find Abel. No way had they come all the way to Ireland just for her. She knew Juice, Hap, and Koz would but not the other Sons. This was all for Abel, and she couldn't be more hopeful that he was going to be found safe. Of course, the lady could be lying. Could be walking her to her death, but just the idea that any of member of SAMCRO was close was enough to bring tears to her eyes. She swallowed hard, hanging her head to hide her tears. "Okay."

"Heard what ye did. Going after Cammy like that. Was stupid but brave," Fiona stated with a little smirk. "Why didn't you try to escape?"

"I had to protect Abel," she replied softly. It's what she'd been telling herself since she'd jumped on that boat at the pier. Someone had to protect that baby, and Cameron hadn't been thinking clearly enough to do it. She was honestly surprised she'd gotten this far; she'd thought they'd have kill her the second they set foot in Belfast. "Wasn't going to put him in danger trying to get away."

Fiona nodded, a look of respect in her eyes. "You'd lay down your life for a babe that wasn't yours?"

Angela shrugged, staring down at her hands again. She still couldn't quite wrap her own mind around why she went with Cameron. She just saw Abel in danger and sprung to action. Hadn't really thought it all the way through. "He's family."

"Love for your family will get ye far. 'specially that family," she commented with a little smirk. "Let's get you a shower. Get you dressed and back to your family, ey?"

"Yeah...that'd be...great," Angela replied around the lump in her throat. "Thank you."

The hot water of the shower felt amazing on her sore muscles. Fiona had left her a hairbrush on the counter with some hair ties around the handle. With a sigh, she brushed out her hair, braiding it in two braids down either side of her head before connecting them in the back in a ponytail. Looking at herself in the mirror, she frowned; she didn't look like herself. She looked exhausted, numb. It wasn't unlike the reflection she saw staring back at her after Raj had died, though this time she hadn't starved and drank herself half to death. This time she felt stronger, ready to face anything. If this Fiona lady was leading her to her death, she was going to go down fighting.

She changed into the clothes Fiona had left for her. They didn't fit her well, though she was glad to see Juice's sweatshirt was folded neatly on top. It was still warm from the dryer too. It had long since stopped smelling like him, but the familiar weight of it on her shoulders was comforting. She followed Fiona into a large black van, noting one of the men who'd brought her food was sitting in the driver's side. He nodded to her in greeting, which she ignored, choosing to climb into the very back of the van.

On the drive over, Fiona introduced a young girl sitting there as Chibs' daughter, Kerrianne. She was a pretty girl who looked more like Fiona than Chibs, though if she looked long enough, she could see the Scotsman in Kerri's eyes. The girl didn't say a word of greeting, just nodded her head. She was scared. Angela could feel it coming off her in waves. What was she so scared about? Fiona had said they were safe. That they were going to the SAMBEL clubhouse. Angela held onto that hope tightly, trying her best not to let her mind wander to the alternative.

The van drove through a dreary town that looked straight out of the movies. If she wasn't in such a dire situation, Angela would've taken the time to appreciate the beauty of the town with the beautiful Irish hills in the background.

The van pulled through the gates of a dingy building, stopping in front of where a crowd was gathering near a few motorcycles. Men were walking out of the doors to the main building. It took her a minute before she spotted Happy, his gun drawn and held low at his side. A weight lifted off her shoulders, and her breath caught in her throat as tears of relief sprung to her eyes. It hadn't been a set up. Happy was there. She was safe. They were going to get Abel and go home. Juice came out not long after, gun drawn, a tough look on his handsome face. She inhaled sharply, a soft laugh of relief escaping her hold. She couldn't believe it was them. That they'd found her. That she was going to get to go home.

One of Kellan's men opened the van's sliding door, and Fiona and Kerrianne got out. She was vaguely aware of Chibs pushing his way through the crowd to get to them, though her eyes never left Juice's face. His mohawk was thicker than usual and wider, not quite as neat as he normally kept it. He had some kind of abrasion on his cheek, another by his eye. What the hell had happened to him while she'd been away? Had he fought someone? Was he okay? Angela sat there, lost in her study of the man she loved until the sound of the driver clearing his throat pulled her out of it. He extended a hand to her. "Need help out, lass?"

Angela shook her head, getting to her feet. Her hands shook as she gripped the sides of the car seats in front of her to get out of the van. Slowly, she lowered herself onto the asphalt before lifting her head. She locked eyes with Juice for a brief moment, and then, somehow, she was wrapped in his arms, every inch of her body seemed to meld with every inch of his. She clung to him, burying her face into his neck and inhaling his comforting scent. She couldn't believe this was real, that he'd come to save her.

His hands moved over her back. "Angel," he murmured, turning his head to kiss her temple.

She pulled away, her hands framing his face. Tears blurred the image, but she could see his smile shining through. His face was so familiar to her, every inch of it seared into her mind like her own reflection. She couldn't believe he was there. That he'd found her. Her thumb smoothed over his cheeks. "What happened?"

"Angel, you've been held hostage for like a week and you're worried about me? I'm fine," he said, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. He tapped his forehead to hers, his warm hand on the side of her neck as his thumb dragged over her jawline. "Are you okay?"

"I am now," she replied, leaning into him. Slowly, she tilted her head, her lips brushing gently against his in a soft kiss. Juice hand stayed on her cheek while his other arm wrapped around her back, drawing her in closer as he slanted his lips across hers. She raked her nails over the nape of his neck with one hand while trying desperately to pull herself closer than him with the other arm around is torso. The warmth emanating from him seeped into her body, and she melted into him. He deepened the kiss, sending a stampede of butterflies throughout her chest. He tasted like home. She knew there were tears falling down her face, but she didn't care. For the first time in days, she finally felt safe.

Not gonna lie...I loved writing this chapter.
I fast forwarded through a lot of the Ireland stuff and other little details, so sorry if I missed anything! Will likely do it some more so as not to bore y'all with re-writing what's already in the show!🤣
