Chapter 37
Mayor Bougerious POV:
I was glad to hear from Chole.
I shouted a shout of gratitude when she called me.
I was relieved to hear my future son-in-law, mostly wishful thinking was alive and awake!
I could hear Sarah say something about how she knew he was okay.
I smiled.
I felt like celebrating.
Nathaniel is recovering well.
I danced around the room with my granddaughter after I got off the phone with Chole.
Yes, I know she has been officially adopted yet, but I am sure she will be.
I know she will because Chole takes good care of her.
I was more than happy to watch Sarah for these past two weeks.
I felt it was important for Chole to visit with him.
I knew if anyone could encourage him to fight for his life it was Chole.
I smiled.
I know that they are both not quite on the mend when it comes to misunderstandings.
I realize they have a lot to discuss.
I am glad they have another chance to talk and go out with each other.
I am certain if Nathaniel were to ask Chole to date him she would say yes.
I can tell.
I know because she has come so far. She has admitted she loves him.
How do I know this?
I know because I am her father.
I may be the mayor of Paris, but first I am Chole's father and Sarah's grandpa.
I am proud to have that redhead boy in our lives. I will be happy the day that those two announce their engagement and set a date.
I do not want to get too ahead of myself.
I have hope that is stronger than it was before today.
I smile despite all that has happened.
After I danced with Sarah, I fixed her some lemonade.
After she drank it, I laughed as she made a funny face while she drew a picture.
It looked like she was trying hard to concentrate on what she worked on. What did she draw that caused her to focus so much on the details?
I took a look at it and gasped. It was a drawing of Nathaniel with his arms around Chole, and Chole holding Sarah's hand. I stood in the background.
"Sarah, that is a great drawing, Is that of us?" I asked.
"Yes, Grandpa, it is a drawing of our family, or at least of how I want it to be," Sarah answered.
"To be honest, I hope it ends up that way too, kid," I told her.
Sarah hugged me and I hugged her.
I would be more than happy to have her be my officially adopted grandchild. She was a well-behaved person for one so young, she was kind, smart, pretty, and special.
I had not told her I had seen her arm glow as it healed. I had not mentioned that I saw how her kisses healed some of the scars, Chole had for years.
