Chapter 12
Trevor's POV.
"Jesus! I like you Scarlett, a lot!" I blurted it out.
We were standing looking at each other, I was nervous as hell. I wanted her to like me back but she was not reacting at all. I looked at her beautiful, shocked face and then turned around to walk.
It caused me so much pain when she said that Clarissa could have me. I wanted her to fight for me. It wasn't like we were dating, but I just had an expectation.
"Trevor, I-I li..."
BOOM!!
Before she could finish, she was crushed by a Red Audi. My whole world stopped, everything was spinning around me and I did not move.
Roxie and some guy came out of the restaurant, frantically running. Roxie was on the verge of tears. She screamed my name and snapped me back to reality.
I removed my phone from my back pocket with my shaky hands and called 911. They said the ambulance will arrive shortly. I rushed to Scarlett who was unconscious in her own blood.
My ears were filled with the sirens of the ambulance. They loaded Scarlett's body and Roxie and the guy left in the ambulance. I went to the Audi and saw the driver had already left the scene. I searched the car for any break fails or damage, but it seemed perfectly alright. This made me come to two conclusions. Either the driver was drunk or this was done on purpose.
I was driving furiously towards my home when I thought that someone did it on purpose because no one actually day drinks. I burst opened the door and started breaking anything that came in my path.
Vincent rushed downstairs and tried calming me down, not having control on my anger, I punched him but he still held me tightly and calmed me down.
I finally stopped shaking but my breathing was still heavy. He left me and I dropped myself on the floor. Vince sat down next to me, patting me in comfort.
"You okay, brother?" Vincent asked with a worried tone.
"Scarlett had an accident today, she is at the hospital right now." I replied, trying to contain myself from crying.
My parents heard it and came near the door where I was crying.
"Honey, I'm so sorry." My mom crouched next to me but I just ignored her. "I was really looking forward to know her tonight at dinner."
"That's what you care about right now? Your stupid dinner? She is in the hospital, mother! Probably fighting for her life." I screamed. "Somebody did this to her! ON PURPOSE. So please, just don't show me your face till I can control myself." I practically screamed at her.
"Do you know who did it?" He questioned.
"No idea." I replied, standing on my wobbly feet. "Do me a favor, have someone investigate the car and get to the bottom of it. Please!"
"Of course, anything you need." He politely smiled.
I went upstairs and got some fresh clothes for Scarlett and left to go to the hospital. I reached the emergency room. Roxie was crying in a corner, curled in a ball.
I reached to her and she hugged me tightly, she let all her tears out and I comforted her by gently caressing her hair. After a good 15 minutes, I asked her to wash her face. I stood up and looked around for someone to answer my questions.
I saw the guy who went in the ambulance and walked towards him, he was also trying to hold back his tears.
"How is she? Did the doctor say anything?" I ask him.
"She broke a few ribs and has a major leg fracture, the doctor said that she was lucky to survive the crash. Sorry." He replied.
"Well, can I see her?" I worriedly ask.
"They are performing a surgery right now, we will be informed when to go in." He smiled and patted my back.
"I'm Trevor, a friend of hers." I speak up.
"Joseph, her friend from the city." He said, extending his hand. I shaked it.
I had a wave of jealousy flow when he mentioned. What if she likes him more than me? My conscious spoke. We both sat at the bench, with folded arms. I rested my eyes for while, but opened them as the doors of emergency room were pushed open.
"Doctor, is she alright?" I rushed to his side.
"She's stable now, but we don't want to crowd, so you'll can visit her one at a time." He bluntly said.
Just as he left, Scarlett's mother arrived. She was covered in sweat and tears. It looked like she ran from work to come here. We let her go first. I saw her break down in front of her miserable looking daughter. I felt bad.
Roxie soon arrived and went in second. Her mother had buried her head in Joseph's chest as she continued to cry. I was the third to go in the ER.
I entered and saw my delicate Scarlett, lying there helplessly. She looked like an angel. Her hands were covered with few bandages, she had the oxygen mask on her face. Her left leg was covered in plaster. I gently stroke her hair and placed a kiss on her forehead.
Exiting the room, I handed the clothes, that I brought for Scarlett to her mom and went back home. My brother opened the door for me and told me that the investigators were working on it.
I thanked him and ran to my room. Entering my bathroom, I punched the walls, hurting my knuckles and screamed. My brother hurried to my room and dragged me out. He was stronger than me, so it was easy.
"Listen I understand that you liked that girl. But hurting yourself is not the solution." He screamed.
I couldn't take it anymore, swallowing my pride, I started crying. He hugged me and stroke my thick hair. I never cried in front of anyone, but I could not control my tears anymore.
After a good crying session, I texted Sabrina about what happened and why I cancelled my study plans with her and went to sleep. I talked with Scarlett's mom and decided to take the night shift.
I was woken up by my doorbell ringing. Apparently my brother opened the door. So I took a glance at my watch and saw that it was already 8:00 pm. I changed into my PJ's and went downstairs.
He was talking with a really high pitched, annoying voice in the living room.
"Vince, I am going to the hosp....Clarissa?!" I surprisingly gasped.
She was dressed in a short red dress and had her hair tied up, exposing her body. She had the most annoying smile plastered on her face.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, clenching my jaw.
"I heard what happened to Scarlett, baby. I thought you would need distraction. So, I have arranged a date at the restaurant nearby. Get ready, I'll wait." She spoke.
"We are not going anywhere and don't ever show up at my house." I gritted my teeth.
"But..baby.."
"I SAID LEAVE!" I cut her off by screaming out the words.
"Fine! Before I leave, I wanted to clear one thing. You and Scarlett don't belong together." She hissed.
That's it! I let my anger control me and stopped her my grabbing her shoulder. She turned around with a smile as she expected me to do that. I waited for her to face me completely.
When she did, I raised my hands and slapped her with all my strength. All my five fingers were printed on her cheeks and she was all red.
"Don't. Ever. Say. That. Again." I said and left the house.
