Chapter 20: That escalated

What was he doing here? He leaned against her doorframe, not allowing her to close her door. It was late at night and the chilly wind was entering her warmer house. Y/N was shocked, not because he was here in front of her, but because he was drunk and crying. His mask was over his head, cheeks were red, tears staining his face as his lips frowned.

"Y-Y/N~ I miss *hic* you..."

"You had your chance and you ruined it... with those prostitutes."

"You *hic* misunderstood everything."

"My eyes don't lie. Please leave."

"I-I... *hic* I can't l-live *hic* without you..."

"Please don't make this difficult."

Haganezuka goes onto his knees as if he was going to beg her. He digs into his pocket, pulling out a tiny box. He opened it, displaying a beautiful diamond ring.

"*hic* I j-just wanted to *hic* check with them if *hic* *hic* this was b-beautiful enough."

"H-Hotaru..."

"I wanted to *hic* p-propose to you the n-next day... *hic* *hic* Only you c-can be my w-wife! *hic* W-Will you marry me?"

"Now that you tell me this... I feel like a bad person."

"N-No, you're *hic* not! You're the most beautiful, kind, smart, strong woman I've met in my life!"

He managed to say that with no hiccups. Y/N was on the verge of tears, now knowing what he was actually doing.

"O-Of course I'll marry you, you idiot. Though this was not the proposal that I had in mind..."

His eyes turned round like a puppy, glistening under the light as he bawled in happiness. She was fidgetting as his cries were pretty loud. She grabs him and pulls him into her house. Immediately, he knocks out and hugged her leg pretty tightly.

"Sheesh. We have to talk tomorrow morning."

His eyes fluttered open, not used to the surroundings he woke up at. It was familiar, it was her house. His head throbbed and his eyes widened when her head popped out from a corner, blushing from his bedhead.

"I-I made breakfast..."

Am I in a dream? I better enjoy this dream before reality hits me.

He sat on the chair, feeling that it felt too real. She no longer had the sad eyes and were glossed with timidness. Her hand pushes a few stray hairs behind her ears and the shine of a diamond caught his eyes.

"T-That ring..."

"Ahh... Y-You proposed last night..."

"And y-you said yes?"

"Y-Yeah..."

"Is this a dream?"

She stood up, making her way to him and leans closer to him. Their lips peck and she whispers,

"Did that feel like a dream?"

He shook his head, blood rushing up his face. Things somehow turned out this way and he felt as if he was in dreamland. Over breakfast, they discussed their odds and agreed to trust each other and stop acting like kids. As he left her house, he hugged her tightly, stroking her hair.

"I-I'm glad it all worked out... I really missed you."

"I missed you too, Hotaru."

Haganezuka pulls on the mask and walks towards his house with little skips of joy. He was engaged to the love of his life, the one he did not want to lose. The whole village and the pillars heard of their engagement, rushing down to congratulate her. Kanroji even made time to choose a wedding dress and help the couple arrange their wedding ceremony. She was the love pillar for a reason. A few months went by and it was already autumn, cool weather for anyone to enjoy. Y/N waited in the bride's room, nervously picking at her gloves as the ceremony approaches. During their wedding, they decided to remove their masks and hold it in a private place so that only their friends knew their faces. Unfortunately for her, her parents were not around to bring her down the aisle. Uzui offered, which she gladly accepted. He clicked his tongue,

"I should have taken you in as my fourth wife."

"Excuse me! I won't even say yes."

"I know. Today you look extremely beautiful. I guess it's what they say, your wedding is your day."

She blushed when he extended his arms, telling her its time to walk down the aisle. Each step she took down the aisle, her heart picked up its pace. Y/N did not want to look up, scared that she would start crying like Kanroji who was making so much noise. When she arrived and looked up, he was smiling so brightly and that smile could have strained his muscles. They did their vows, the 'Swordsmiths Village' way of just stating facts.

"You may now kiss the bride."

His right hand caressed her blushing cheek, leaning down to kiss her. Cheers of joy and Kanroji screaming filled the air. However, he did not let go. He missed her taste. She mumbled, as his tongue entered her mouth. Their mouths moved as if he was eating her up. Uzui coughs,

"Save that for later, young man."

The couple pushed each other away, embarrassed at their little make-out session in front of everyone. Their after-party was great, a lot of socializing happening. Of course, there needed to be some teasing for the couple as their honeymoon was soon. Haganezuka had hired a cart to immediately bring them to a village known for its tourist attraction, a place he believed she would love. They entered the cart, waving at their friends who cried in joy. He places his mask over their faces,

"Are you ready for our honeymoon?"

"I'm very ready~"
