Chapter 11

I have been trying to know more information about Alexander Hunter, but this man did a very good job of hiding most of their tracks that it appeared he didn't have any skeletons in his closet. That was of course only on the files; I was more than positive he was hiding a lot of secrets. Also, most of the people in the black market were scared of him, and they refused to talk or give us any information that would incriminate him.

But we have been watching and asking a lot of people around the black market and finally, we have found the man who was the middleman between the buyer and the seller; the fence who completed the deal. His name was Owen Declan, and finally, we had enough information on him to get a warrant for arresting him.

We arrived at the place we knew he was in, we burst into the building and I shouted. "FBI, freeze!" While pointing my gun at him with both hands.

For once, I wish they would do as we say but absolutely, not this time. He started running and I started chasing after him. Unfortunately, he was fast so my feet pounded faster and faster after him until we reached a dead-end that was a brick wall.

"Okay Mr. Declan, now there's no way for you to run. Please put your hands behind your head," I said firmly, taking my handcuffs out.

He did as I said with a snort. "Listen, whatever you think I did, I didn't do."

"Okay, I'm sure I haven't heard that one before," I said, sarcastically as I slapped the handcuffs on his hands behind his back. "Mr. Declan, you're under arrest, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."

He groaned as some other agents took him to one of our cars. I sighed, this was the best progress we have done in this case yet; I hope it would lead us to something.

"I told you, I don't know what you are talking about!" Owen Declan repeated again. I have been interrogating him for more than an hour and he was insisting on denying all charges.

"And I told you, we have a lot of evidence to prove that you were the one responsible for selling the Corridor in the Asylum painting." I sighed for what seemed like the millionth time. "So, lying won't really do you any good."

"Okay, what do you want?" He let out a groan, finally giving up.

"I want you to tell me who was the seller and who was the buyer," I demanded, calmly.

He huffed. "I don't know the real identity of the seller, but the buyer was..." he hesitated a little

"Mr. Declan, I'm sure the DA would appreciate your help. I can get you a good deal if you cooperate," I encouraged him.

He swallowed hard before meeting my gaze. "The buyer was... Alexander Hunter."

I smirked once I heard his name. I was right about him, after all.

"Will you be able to ID the seller?" I asked, unable to get the smirk off my face.

"I don't think I can. I contacted him through the phone and the only time I met him was the time he gave the painting to me." He shrugged.

"You can't remember what he looked like?" I asked him, disappointedly.

"Not really, he had nothing special about him. He was wearing a hoodie, dark sunglasses, and was trying to hide his face as much as he could," he answered.

Okay, that wasn't good, the seller was the real thief, but him! I remember the thief being a she, not a he. So, she didn't work alone, huh! That was a start. After all, if we found the seller Declan was talking about, he would absolutely lead us to her.

"Listen, Declan, as I said we're going to offer you a good deal if you did your part right. Your time will be reduced, and you will serve it in a minimum-security prison. Also, you will be a witness in court," I said. I had a plan and if it worked this case would be closed sooner than I thought.

He was looking at me with obvious interest now.

"We need you to contact the seller and tell him that Alexander Hunter wants to meet him." I know that he would agree, he wasn't in a position to refuse such an offer.

"Okay," he said quietly that I barely could hear him.

I smiled a little, I knew that the thief wouldn't refuse to meet with Hunter no matter what, I also knew that the same trap wasn't going to work with Hunter, but after arresting the rest of the criminals. I would have enough evidence to finally put his ass in prison.

Finally, we had something vital in this case.
