Chapter 09

Lucius had invited Aimee Burke to his home to avoid Narcissa becoming suspicious of the unlikely pair talking in public. Lucius was glad that his father wouldn't be home, as the Burkes; mainly her eldest brother had drawn up a lot of attention for fighting against the Dark Lord.

Aimee couldn't believe her eyes, Malfoy Manor was beautiful, the landscape surrounding the large manor, appeared as though it had been picked out of a fairytale. Lucius spotted her looking all around her, he walked outside to greet her.

"Like the view?" he asked

"You have all this land to yourself," Aimee exclaimed

"Well, My father does, though I'll inherit all this once I marry," he told her

"You intend to marry Narcissa?"

"Why don't we go inside,"

Lucius guided Aimee inside his home, avoiding the topic of marriage to Narcissa. Aimee gazed around his home, she couldn't believe how big the place was, and there was only Lucius and his father living here. Lucius showed Aimee to his sitting room where they could talk freely about.

Aimee taught Lucius through her plan for him to win Narcissa back. She had done it once before how difficult could it be. Lucius wasn't going to tell her why Narcissa was so mad at him, no one was supposed to find out he was a death eater, not even his own father.

Aimee insisted that she tell him what happened so she could help, Lucius just made up some silly argument that he and Narcissa have had before. Though she didn't completely believe his excuse, however, she didn't push him to tell her.

"Alright, I know that Narcissa likes you, she has for a while, I think you should just do I say, and hopefully she'll come around,"

"You Burke, despite what the Prophet has been writing about your brother. I know I can trust you," he told her, Aimee smiled at him.

"I should get going, I hope everything goes well,"

"You going to be alright going on your own?" she nodded.

Narcissa grew more irritated by Bellatrix presence. Yes, Bellatrix had every right to be here, it was a home one time before. However, the overcritical sister didn't sit well with Narcissa, Bellatrix criticised everything, from Narcissa's music to her choice in dresses.

"Must you always go through my things," Narcissa shouted, as Bellatrix found the music sheet she had hidden away.

"Why so angry Cissy? Scared I'd find you many piano pieces of Lucius-

"They're private," she said snatching the music sheet from her.

"Girls, that is quite enough," Druella put a stop to their bickering, "go and get dressed we're leaving soon,"

Narcissa stormed upstairs slamming her door shut, Bellatrix also slammed her door shut. Druella massaged her forehead, slumping down in a chair, as Cygnus entered the room, amazed that his wife managed to keep her cool for as long as she did.

"I don't miss them fighting," he said "Why is Bellatrix here again?"

"Because she and Rodolphus are having a few issues,"

"Well, they aren't going to get solved here are they, I should hope Bellatrix returns to her home soon," Cygnus said,

While he cared for his daughters, Bellatrix was a married woman, who needed to begin her life, with Rodolphus and not run back home the second things get a little difficult. Narcissa got ready quickly the quickest she had ever got dressed in her life.

She marched downstairs apparating out of their home, she wasn't sticking around to hear her mother's lecture. Narcissa appeared outside, Zabini Manor, to be greeted by Helene, with two drinks in her hand, she handed one to Narcissa.

"What's the matter with you?"

"Who do you think?"

"Lucius? Bella?" Helene asked

"Bellatrix this time, she causes nothing but trouble, I can't wait for her to leave,"

"Has she driven you mad already?" Narcissa refrained from making too much of a fuss over Bellatrix.

Trying to focus on socialising with the various guest at Zabini Manor, Rebekah and Theodore had drawn up more attention. Regarding their recent engagement, Narcissa was thrilled for Rebekah, finding her love. Helene and Narcissa could see how besotted Theodore was with Rebekah.

"Even ladies," Lucius said approaching the pair, "Would you like to dance?"

"I thought I made myself clear-

"Oh, I meant Helene," Lucius said,

Narcissa was surprised Lucius didn't ask her, Helene jumped at the chance to dance with anyone, seeing as her Burke didn't show up. Narcissa couldn't keep her eyes off of them, she was now sat alone, watching as Rebekah and Helene waltzed around the room, Lucius didn't glance at Narcissa once.

"Why is Helene dancing with Malfoy?" Narcissa brought her hand up to her chest

"Don't sneak up on a lady like that," Narcissa warned the Burke Brother who had arrived late.

"Sorry, so why is Helene with Malfoy?" he asked again.

"I don't know, why don't you ask her yourself," Narcissa told him.

"We're not together, just so you know, Helene thinks it's barbaric that she should have married at all, she doesn't want a man in order to complete her life, and I agree with her,"

"When why is she even participating in matchmaking balls?"

"It's like a free party, free drinks, dancing, plus her mother says she has to attend,"

Narcissa knew marriage was off-limits to Lucius, it would be fitting that he attend this ball with Helene. They both had no intention of marriage, though Narcissa couldn't help but feel like Lucius was purposely trying to get her attention, he knew Helene was her best friend.

This was just his way to get back at her, for throwing him out of her house.
