Chapter 2
I walked up to the door, my limbs were screaming in pain. I probably should've waited to heal a little more, but I had to talk to her. I lifted my arm to the door, and knocked.
I heard a small sniffle. "Who is it?"
"(Y/N)." My voice cracking, "you probably don't know me... Garroth asked if I would talk to you. Can I come in?"
"O-Okay." I opened the door slowly, and saw a girl with black hair, and hazel eyes sitting on the floor with a small child in her arms. My eyes widened, and I closed the door. "I-I... uh," I saved my memories to myself. "How are you?"
"I feel sick." She mumbled, looking down.
"Uh... sorry to ask, but... are you... pregnant? Because Garroth told me, Katelyn, I think kept saying you haven't been feeling well." Her eyes widened.
"I-I never thought of that," she mumbled. I walked a little closer to her, and sat down across from her, grunting a bit. "How did you think of that?"
"I... I have some sort of vision... before I died. I'm pretty sure it was you, and a baby who looked a lot like you." I found it was really easy to open myself up to her, even though I hardly knew her.
"You did?" She asked. Her eyes were full of interest. "What else did you see?"
"Lots of death, tears. There were two people, but I only knew one of them. Garroth's brother. He was with some girl. I don't know who though. There was fighting. It was pretty confusing... uh, actually do you mind if I asked you a question?"
"Uh... I guess not," she shrugged. She played with the girls hair.
"Why are you locking yourself up in here?" I folded my hands together. She pursed her lips, and looked away. "...I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to-"
"Aaron..." she sighed sadly.
"...I... okay. Was he one of the men I saw?" I asked.
"Yes. The one that was... holding the explosive as Garroth put it." She looked so sad. "He's dead as you might have guessed."
"It's okay. I know how that feels... in a sort, being on the other side."
"What?" She looked up.
"I've been dead... for eighteen years, but I'm pretty sure I only aged like three years... I'm not sure. It's confusing, but Garroth and I... before I died..." I bit my lip. Aphmau seemed to understand. I sighed, "I can't even imagine what he was going through... must be similar to you." I frowned. "How does it feel?"
"It hurts... a lot," she mumbled.
"Then I must have hurt my family too..."
"What's your surname name?" She asked.
"I would have thought at least someone would have mentioned me at one point," I laughed softly. "It's, Zvhal."
Her eyes widened a little. "You're Laurance's sister?"
"Yes... do you know where he is!?" I asked, perking up a bit.
"...Sadly no," she frowned. "I know where Cadenza is though... if you'd like to see her?"
"Really? Is Hayden with her!?" I asked.
"..." she stayed silent. I let out a shaky breath.
"Uh... good talk?"
"Yeah," she nodded. "Katelyn knows where Cadenza is, if you want." I nodded, and stood up, and left. I saw Garroth standing at the bottom of the hill. I felt my head spin as I glanced at the stairs. I felt like my life was turning into a mess, and I just came back.
When I made it to the bottom I couldn't hold back the tears, I collapsed against Garroth, tears streaming down my cheeks. "H-He's dead," I mumbled. Garroth picked me up, and carried me back to the infirmary.
He laid me down on the bed. "You're still weak from the lack of movement. Your body's not used to it."
I nodded weakly, "when you can could you try..." I trailed off, falling asleep.
When I woke up Garroth was gone, but there was a girl with brown hair, and light blue eyes. "Oh, you're finally awake! You've been out for quite a while!" She smiled, with a bit of an accent. I furrowed my eyebrows together.
"I'm sorry... who are you?" I asked.
"Oh! Silly me! I'm Donna! Your friend Garroth asked me to watch while he was gone!" She smiled.
"How long has he been gone? Where is he?" I asked, trying to sit up, but the pain forced me back down. I sighed weakly.
"Don't push yourself too much now. He's been gone for about two weeks I reckon."
"Two!? I've been out for two week!?" I yelled. "I need to do something!" I tried to get up, but Donna pushed me down.
"It's okay. Garroth, Katelyn, and Aphmau just went to O'Khasis to figure out what Ivy wanted from you three."
"Who?"
"Aphmau, Garroth and... you."
"Me? Who's Ivy?"
"She's a member of The Jury of The Nine. She came looking for... relics... do you have a relic?" My eyes widened.
"I... I thought... that can't put anyone in danger... right?" I asked hurriedly.
"If it keeps drawing Ivy back, possibly."
"Where can I find Cadenza? She's my top priority right now."
"Sweetie you should rest-"
"I've rested enough!" I felt tears welling up in my eyes. "I've rested for eighteen years. I need to see my sister!"
"Oh... I'm sorry. I'll get Travis to escort you."
"Thank you," I sighed.
Not too long after I was standing face to face with a boy with white hair, and bright, energetic green eyes. "Travis, I presume?"
"And you must be (Y/N). Your figure is so much better than I imagined." I quickly snapped a punch right into his jaw. I heard my knuckles crack which lead to a searing pain in my hand. I cursed as my bones started to mend themselves. Must be new.
"So that must be why you need an escort," he pointed to my hand. "Do you have a relic?"
"Yeah... it wasn't my choice though. My mother, Lady Lezina, gave it to me."
"You're a direct descendant!?" He looked surprised.
"...Yes. The most eligible at the least." I mumbled. I got on the horse Donna had provided, and Travis got on his.
"Well, right this way," he grinned.
When we got to New Metelli, as Travis put it, I jumped off my horse, and he showed me the way to Cadenza's house. A guard stopped us. "I'm sorry, but Lady Cadenza is busy at the moment." He mumbled.
"This is more important than whatever she's currently doing," I countered. He looked me in the eye, and I flashed him the most intent look. He looked down.
"Right this way." He opened the door, and I walked in with Travis behind me.
I saw her, she's a sight for sore eyes now isn't she? She was leaning over a table, studying a map I think. Grumbling nasty words. "Ahem. Lady Cadenza." Travis spoke.
She turned, and her eyes widened. "(Y/N)?" She tilted her head ever so slightly.
"Cadenza..." I mumbled slowly. She ran over to me embracing me in one of her warm kind hearted hugs. I smiled, feeling tears run down my cheeks, and she cried too. "I missed you... even though I don't remember half of it... and you're older than me now!" I laughed, pulling away.
"I am... now aren't I?" She smiled. "Wait, but how are you here!?"
"During the test I had placed an enchantment on me, and my partner. I think it connected our life forces in a sense. I aged with him, until he stopped, and I... well woke up one day." I explained.
"I'm so glad you're back!" She smiled. I remembered the other reason I came.
"Can you possibly show me Hayden's grave?" I asked.
"I can take you," Travis spoke up, "Lady Cadenza looks busy."
"Thank you, Travis," she smiled softly. I hugged her again before Travis and I left. I was feeling tired by the time we reached his grave. I managed to produce a flower with my magyks for him before I was too tired to move.
Travis carried me back to the horses, and laid my on top of mine, grabbing the rains while managing his horse as well. "So you've been asleep for eighteen years?" He asked.
"That sounds about right," I mumbled.
"You seem pretty in shape for someone who has hardly moved in the amount of time if you ask me." I managed to lift my head a glance at him.
"Were you checking me out?" I asked.
"Maybe," he grinned. I snorted a bit, and leaned my head against the horse.
"You're something different."
"In a bad way? Or a good way?"
"A good way," I decided after a while. That seemed to shock him.
"A good way," he mumbled, before I drifted off.
When I woke up we were just getting to Phoenix Drop. I opened my eyes with blurry vision. I saw four figures in front of us... didn't Donna say only three of them went though? I sat up, and rubbed my eyes.
My eyes slowly adjusted, and I saw Aphmau, Garroth, Katelyn I presume, and another man, but I couldn't see his face. "Heeeeey Katelyn!" Travis yelled, waving. The girl with blue hair sighed, and the other three turned to face us.
"Laurance." I whispered before jumping off the horse. His eyes caught mine, and they started at me with disbelief.
"(Y/N)?" He whispered. I ran towards him that distance felt like miles, my brother, my blood relative. His eyes looked angry as I reached him he pushed me to the ground, causing my to grunt in pain. Then I felt the cool blade of a sword press against my neck.
"Laurance!" Garroth and Aphmau yelled. I let out unsteady breaths.
"It's an Imp," Laurance snarled. I opened my mouth to say something, but the blade pressed down on my throat. "YOU'VE BEEN TREATING AN IMP!!!" He cried.
"Laurance..." Garroth started in a calm tone. "It's (Y/N). I would know."
"How!? How would you know!?" Laurance snarled.
"She was my partner in the test! She died in my arms!!!" He cried angrily.
"Then how is she here!?" He growled.
"She has a relic," Aphmau mumbled.
"What?" Garroth asked. Everyone stared at me as I struggled to breath.
"That's why Ivy wanted both of us... right?" Aphmau looked over at Garroth.
"Yes, but-"
"Then they probably want her too." Aphmau stated.
"I watched her heal." Travis spoke up. "She broke her hand fist punching me, and it healed within minutes."
"Laurance-" I choked, crying out in pain, and the blade pressed even harder.
"Laurance, stop!" Garroth yelled.
"It's not her!" He growled. I grabbed the blade of his sword, feeling the metal sink into my skin, I cried out in pain as I pushed him off of me, sending him flying into the gate. I lay back on the ground, gasping, and the wound on my hand immediately started to heal. Garroth picked me up, and Katelyn walked over to check on Laurance.
"(Y/N). Are you alright?" He asked. I nodded.
"Please, put me down." I mumbled. He set me on my feet. "Now I just have one thing to say."
"What is it?" Garroth asked.
"How dare you leave for TWO weeks, and leave me here! I mean what could have gone wrong!? Maybe you could have died this time, and even so I wouldn't be there so I would just wake up, and you'd be dead!" I yelled, furiously, making angry movements. "And don't even get me started on-"
I was cut off by him pulling me into a kiss. I felt like I was melting, and I pulled away. "That doesn't make me any less upset." I grumbled, crossing my arms.
"I know, but it stopped your yelling," he grinned. I rolled my eyes then walked into Phoenix Drop.
Maybe we are still something?
I smiled at that thought.
Maybe.
