Chapter 18
Garroth's P.O.V.
As we waited for Travis I couldn't help, but to constantly worry about (Y/N). I was also starting to become a little dishearten at the fact that she kept running off whenever I tried to ask her the most important question of her life. "Garroth?"
"I'm sorry for being distant as we wait for Travis to return." I mumbled the apology to Katelyn. She chuckled leaning against the edge of the boat.
"No need. I know that there's a lot on your mind, and I understand that. You're going to be a father in less than a year, I'd be distant too, thinking about her."
"I know, but I should stay focused, but it's just so hard... especially when..."
"Garroth?"
"I want to ask (Y/N) to marry me Katelyn." The words tumbled out of my mouth as I thought of them. Though Katelyn looked hardly surprised, she smiled softly.
"Then ask her, it's not that hard."
"You have no idea how hard it actually is." I sighed, fishing the ring out of my pocket to show her. Pursing her lips, she patted my shoulder softly.
"You'll find your time of courage Garroth. It will most likely not be planned."
"Guys!" Travis yelled, running back towards the ship. "I found it!"
"Did you get it?!" Aphmau asked, running to the bow.
"Yes! Now we need to get Menphia's relic, and pray that they found Kul'Zak's relic."
"I have no doubt that they did." I replied to his comment. "Now get up here so we can continue sailing."
Your P.O.V.
Once we reached Phoenix Drop, Dante approached us, dragging me into a hug. "Be carful old man," I teased.
"Hold your tongue young lady, I'm gonna be the godfather of that child of yours anyways." He grinned cheekily and ruffled my hair.
"So how's Kawaii~Chan?"
"She was naming up a storm for your return... where are the others? Are they okay?"
"Relax, Dante. Liochant and I just had to return to Phoenix Drop a little earlier than the others so we could sort some things out."
"Why didn't Garroth come with you?"
"He needed to attend to our Lord, Dante. Surely you can understand that just because I'm with his child doesn't mean he needs to protect me every moment of the day."
"You're right, I'm sorry for underestimating your skill. Now if you'd like, my wife requests both of your presence."
"Of course, Lio would you like to join us?"
"M-Me? Oh, I simply couldn't-"
"C'mon don't be that way." I pouted. Lio chuckled.
"Oh, well I guess a few minutes wouldn't hurt, then I must fulfill my promise to make you the best dinner you'd ever had!" He exclaimed. I laughed at his enthusiasm.
"Alright, Dante are you going to accompany us?"
"Of course. It's my home after all." He replied, leading us to his home where Kawaii~Chan was still baking cookies.
"Hey Kawaii~Chan." She stood up quickly at the sound of my voice and pulled me into a hug.
"(Y/N)~Chan! Kawaii~Chan missed you so much!" She squealed before letting me go. "So where has (Y/N)~Chan been?"
"Oh Kawaii~Chan there's so much I have to tell you... but why not over some sweets?" I asked, hopeful.
"Of course!" We all sat down as Liochant and I explained about our sudden leave of absence.
Garroth's P.O.V.
"Katelyn... do you know where we're going?" I asked as I walked up to her.
"Not exactly," she mumbled, keeping the ship's bow pointed NorthWest. "It just feels... right, I guess."
"Okay... I'm going to go see how everyone else is doing. If you need a break just tell me."
"Will do." Leaving her to the quiet she seemed so desperate for recently, I headed to the bow where Aphmau was standing, staring out at the empty horizon.
"Lady Aphmau." I bowed, placing my hand over my heart.
"Garroth, do you really think this would be the way to stop Shad?" She mumbled, seemingly distraught.
"That's not my call to make. Mostly because it's your daughter were trying to save. Though I've always thought of Alina as my own child, what we do to protect her truly must be decided by her mother."
"You're right, but I was just thinking... what if someone get injured or... takes their leave from this world. That would tear me apart. What if we just went into hiding, (Y/N) can possibly hide our relic frequencies, correct?"
"That I am unsure of. Shad had taken down my protective shield. What good would hiding our frequencies do? He seems to know our plan of action right before it happens. At that rate it's hard to compete with that if you ask me." Aphmau sighed, gripping the side of the boat, tightly, her knuckles turning white.
"You're right again... I'm just worried. I mean I missed my two boys growing up, I can't lose that from my little girls too. You understand that right? You feel like you have to be there for them all the time, and keep them safe."
"I know exactly how that feels..." Slowly I looked towards the horizon with her. "Are you ever worried that if we fight Shad that the greater damages may come to harm others?"
"I've been thinking about that, and how Irene... I mean, I would take us into the Irene Dimension to keep the world from harm... maybe we could use that to our advantage?"
"I agree. But we could lose everything that we have now. Our friends in Phoenix Drop, the boys, even the girls, the people around us could be gone by the time we arrived back here. Would you be willing to give that up?"
"I am if everyone else is."
"I see... should I inform the others of this possibility?"
"No. Leave it between us for know, I may think of something more resourceful in the meantime, plus we don't want to work everybody up too much."
"Understood My Lord." I bowed once more and walked down to the crew's quarters.
