This book is dedicated to Kirby Morrow. Thank you Kirby, for everything.

My ceiling was especially boring that day. Not that it had changed (it hadn't), it simply inspired less daydreams than usual.

Preferably, I would collapse onto the bed—that was more often than not, untidy—and stare up at my very plain, very boring ceiling until I was lost in a half-conscious state. One that swept me away into an extremely unrealistic but enjoyable world of fantasy that lasted shorter than I would like. But today- even that escape had given up on me.

I sighed, throwing my arms down as I sat up and crossed my legs, surveying the room around me in search of something. All the books on my shelves I had read and reread more times than I could remember. My video game console was certainly there, but I had already spent hours playing it that day. I could eat, but that was just boredom begging me for another snack to fill time.

Needless to say, I was bored.

I huffed, blowing a piece of hair from blocking my face and watched in annoyance as it rose and then fell directly back into my vision.

"Chompyyyy, there's nothing to doooo," I whined, glancing to the dragon at my right. Not that my comment meant anything, he was asleep. "Fine, be like that, ignore me," I muttered and turning away.

I had just conceded to my boredom, lying pathetically on the floor, when a guard practically busted down my door without knocking. Rude.

"Princess Y/n!" He exclaimed, urgency rushing his words.

I tilted my head so that I could see him, but didn't bother getting up. I was tired, and knowing my father, he had probably just ordered one of them to check if I had finished my study (I had). "Wassup Bruno?" I asked upon recognising the guard, sending him a two fingered salute from the floor.

"Princess, that is not my name and you are supposed to refer to me as 'guard'." He sighed, rubbing his temples as we had already had the conversation hundreds of times.

I retorted with my usual, undeniably justified reasoning. "Yeah, but you won't tell me your name to try and stop me. Which will never work by the way. So I think 'Bruno' suits you. And 'guard' is not only condescending, but boring."

Bruno opened his mouth, most likely to refute me as usual, when he shut it suddenly. Then he opened it again. He looked like a fish.

"You okay Bruno?"

"I should have said this at the beginning before speaking with you. I almost forgot," he scolded himself with irritation.

"It's okay, I've already finished my school work-"

"The ninja are here."

I have never sat up faster in my life. "The who are where now?"

Bruno smiled, clearly proud of himself for interrupting my chill demeanour. "The Ninja of Ninjago, are here, in Shintaro, now," he repeated, more slow than required.

"No," I breathed in awe at the mere concept.

"Yes."

"Seriously? I swear if this is a joke-"

"I do not lie."

"Holy shit the ninja are here."
