Chapter || Thirty-Three

** This is Anthony **

"The Ferris Wheel." Demitri held out his hand for Snow to take.

His heart pounded against his ribs as he waited for her to take his hand. The small smudge of sweet powder teased him at the corner of her mouth. He wanted to take her to the Wheel Of Love and hopefully kiss her at the top if she would allow him to.

Demitri knew keeping the truth from Snow would eventually come back to kick him in the face but he thought he had more time when they made plans to meet for the carnival. Hearing her promise to him that she wouldn't ignore his calls once she found out he had lied was his only hope but then he forgot about the interview.

His manager and makeup crew was already at his door before he could beg for them to change the location. Throughout the entire interview he begged and prayed that Snow wouldn't come across it until after they met.

Demitri was beyond grateful that Snow was giving him a second chance. He was finally free to admire her beauty without her running away to call MG. They could finally be Snow and Demitri.

Stopping at the back of the line Demitri held Snow's warm hand in his. He wanted to take a step back and soak all of her curves in. The way her black hair was pulled up on the top of her head like a crown and the light blue shirt against her dark skin. Demitri was thankful for the night sky making it too dark for Snow to wear the sunglasses that were tucked in her shirt. He enjoyed looking into those honey brown eyes that he dreamt about for so many nights.

Pulling Snow close with his hand on the low part of her back while her hand rested on his chest. Her eyes danced from one side of his sunglasses to the other wishing that she could see his eyes in return.

Wiping away the powder from the corner of her mouth with his thumb Demitri heard the ticket collector ask for tickets.

"Do you have any tickets?"

Snow shook her head. "No."

"I'll be right back." Demitri said walking backwards. "Just wait for me!"

Snow let the two couples behind her move forward as she stepped out of line to walk to the end. Looking up at the Ferris Wheel she gulped down the nervous lump in her throat. Snow didn't want to tell Demitri that she was afraid of heights. He looked so cute when he reached for her hand asking if she would go with him testing if she trusted him enough.

"Hey Snow!" Kristen and Anthony walked towards her holding hands. "You waited for us the whole time?"

"Um, no actually I was . . . in line too."

"You were going to get on the Ferris Wheel? I thought you were afraid of heights?" Kristen looked at Snow with confusion.

"I was - I mean I am but I'm going with a friend."

"A friend?"

"Hey, sorry I took so long - oh, hi." Demitri looked at the couple standing next to Snow. From the way Snow described her best friend a few months ago he assumed that she was Kristen and they guy holding her hand was her boyfriend, Anthony.

"Hi. Who are you?"

"Oh, I'm uh -"

"MG."

"MG?"

"MG?"

"Yes. This is MG." Snow said hoping that Kristen wouldn't stare him down until she figured out who he really was.

"This is the MG? The one with the sexy voice?"

"Oh my god, Kristen!"

"I am." Demitri smiled. Hearing from Snow's best friend that she thought his voice was sexy made his cheeks warm.

"That's a very nice accent. Where are you from?"

"Kristen, please stop."

"Cuba."

"Why are you wearing sunglasses when the sun is down?"

"Kristen Dane!"

"I uh -"

Kristen raised her brow. "Sé quién eres, Demitri."

Snow looked at her best friend with widened eyes. "You said -"

"I know."

"How?"

"When my best friend told me she was falling for a guy over the phone, I did a little investigating."

Demitri said what his heart felt squeezing Snow's hand with a loving smile. "Quiero ser más que una voz"

"What are you saying?" Snow asked in a hushed whisper.

"Entonces nunca vuelvas a mentir." Kristen replied.

"Never."

Snow searched Demitri's dark glasses wishing that he could take them off for a few seconds without being noticed. She wanted to see his eyes. To read the windows of his soul but for now she would have to settle for the dark reflections and his handsome smile.

Kristen cleared her throat making Snow look to her. "You've been holding out on me this entire time! You could have helped me pass Spanish back in high school! You're a terrible friend."

"She was too busy skipping class."

"I was skipping with you!" Kristen slapped Anthony's arm as he pulled her close kissing her temple. "You two have fun!" Kristen and Anthony waved goodbye as Demitri lifted their joined hands to his lips placing a gentle kiss to Snow's fingertips. Stopping at the ticket collector Demitri handed over their tickets.

Letting Snow step into the cart first Demitri sat next to her stretching up and over to put his arms behind her as the cart door was sealed.

"Very smooth." Snow laughed leaning against Demitri's chest.

"Got it from Steps To Kiss Your Crush Handbook."

Snow felt like her heart had paused stilling her body from all movements. Goosebumps kissed her skin as she watched Demitri remove his sunglasses.

"Your crush?"

"Mi vida." Demitri whispered in her ear.

The Ferris Wheel began to move backwards accelerating Snow's heartbeat. Chanting in her head that the ride wouldn't break and they would fall to their death, her hand tightened on Demitri's leg.

"Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"I'm afraid of heights."  She said truthfully.

"Why didn't you tell me that before? I wouldn't have suggested this in the first place."

"I thought you were trying to be romantic."

"I was but I didn't think you would grip my leg so tight. I'm losing circulation in my toes."

Snow removed her hand from his thigh scooting back to the other side of the small cart making it rock. "Oh my god, we're going to die." She cried out grabbing the rail. Her honey brown eyes were wide and glossy searching for a safe escape but they were already too high in the air.

Demitri reached out for Snow carefully. "Hey hey hey. Don't talk like that. We're fine. We're going to be fine."

"How do you know that? We're not supported. We're just dangling in the air like fish in front of a cat. The ground is ready to eat us."

The cart squeaked as Snow tried to scoot further into the corner of the bench. Demitri took his hat off tucking his glasses in the collar of his shirt.

"We're okay."

"We're not okay."

"Look at me."

Snow kept her eyes glued to the floor of the cart. She didn't want to look anywhere else until she was able to run off the cart and never return. Why did she agree to go with him?

"Look at me."

Why didn't her mind remind her that her heart couldn't take this romantic trip? That she would hyperventilate before they even made it to the top to take cute pictures with a possible kiss.

"Snow, look at me."

Her watery eyes looked to his searching his dark pudding colored orbs for some kind of comfort to her nerves. Her chest rose and fell in triple time. Things began to sway a little to the right and then the left.

Demitri cupped her clammy face. "You can't pass out on me Snowflake. I haven't got the chance to kiss you at the top."

Feeling the Ferris Wheel begin to slow Demitri quickly broke eye contact to look behind Snow checking to see if they were indeed the lucky couple to be at the top.

"You want to k-kiss . . . me?" Demitri smiled at her absurd question. Of course he wanted to kiss her. She was the most beautiful person he had ever laid his eyes on. Every dream he had couldn't compare to how beautiful she was.

He wanted to make her laugh to see her smile. He wanted to hear it for himself. To see if she had laugh lines or if her eyes squinted. Did she cover her mouth when she laughed or did she open her mouth wide for everyone to hear?

Most of all he wanted to hear her say his name again. She hadn't said it since she found out who he was. The way she spat it at him made everything in him break. Demitri didn't want the memory of her hatefully saying his name to brand his thoughts once the night was over.

"I've wanted to kiss you since the night you sang to me."
