Chapter 9
Izuku hummed to himself as he woke up, gripping onto whoever was in bed with him, tighter. He peaked his eyes open, expecting the sight in front of him.
"Hm, Sho? What happened? Why am I-" He started to ask, but was cut off by Todoroki swiftly connecting their lips.
Izuku's eyes went wide in surprise. He hadn't allowed the other male to get this close in months, but he just.... he didn't have it in him to do anything but melt under the touch. No matter how much he tried to tell himself he hated the man laying next to him, he knew he was lying.
He was in love with Shoto Todoroki, and he knew sooner or later it'd be the death of him.
For some reason he was oddly okay with that.
"You feeling all right, Izu? You actually kissed me back." Todoroki whispered in an amused tone as he felt the smaller boy bury his head into his chest. The taller of the two rested his chin on Izuku's head, smiling softly as he realized just how much he had actually missed waking up with Izuku.
Too bad it wouldn't last.
"I just... I don't know, okay? I... missed you these past few months and I guess after last night and everything- I just needed- I don't- Ugh I'm shitty at feelings and you know this. I think you're just doing this on purpose." Izuku finished with a pout, pulling away from the laughing dual haired man.
"Maybe a little." He answered. Todoroki placed a kiss on Izuku's forehead and mentally smirked at how awe struck the other was by the simple gesture. "I missed you to, Izu."
Izuku's fragile little heart couldn't take it anymore as he quickly threw himself into Todoroki's arms, hugging him tightly. "I'm sorry I was so difficult." He whispered his apology, not even sure if he actually meant it or if he just so badly wanted to be back in Todoroki's arms for the long run that he was willing to say whatever he needed to.
"It's okay baby, you were hurt and it's understandable. But you have to know that's nothing's changed. With my job and lifestyle, I can't-" Todoroki's well rehearsed speech was interrupted by Izuku placing a hand over his mouth.
"I know, I know, I understand now, after you know..." Izuku trailed off, slightly waving his free hand as he spoke. "I just... I don't want to lose you again, Sho."
Todoroki had to strain himself to refrain from smirking and morphed it into the most genuine smile he could manage in response to Izuku's words. "I don't want to lose you either. Back to the way we used to be?" He offered with slightly raised brows in question.
Izuku's smile faltered slightly as he remembered how absolutely miserable he was during their few months of being a 'thing', but he quickly nodded anyways. Things would be different this time, Todoroki had nearly lost him and now he knew just how terrible that would feel. That had to spark some part of him to try and be better, right?

"Y-you- you want to send me b-back?" Izuku stuttered out in complete and utter disbelief at what he was hearing.
He was currently sitting in Todoroki's office with him and Shinso. The purple haired man had a clear look of remorse about what Todoroki was saying.
"I know, it's scary but you'll be completely fine, okay? Bakugou had to be banking on the fact that we would fight and you'd leave me. So if you go running back to them, saying exactly that, they'll take you back in a heartbeat and try and use you to get back at me. It's a great plan and I promise that nothing is going to happen to you. Would I lie to you Izu?" Todoroki asked with a certain look in his eyes that almost seemed like he was threatening the poor boy.
Izuku had caught onto the look, but shook it off as a trick of the light. "N-no, but what if-"
Todoroki shook his head and motioned for Shinso to leave. Once he was gone, the silver and blu eyes were glued to Izuku once again. "Izuku, nothing is going to happen to you. Play your part and play it well, you'll be back home in less than two months. We just need you close enough to get more information." He explained in a stern tone. He wasn't the type of man to take no for an answer.
"B-b-but-"
"Izuku," Todoroki snapped, getting fed up with the whining. He quickly corrected himself when he saw Izuku flinch. His tone was soft the next time he spoke. "You already failed your first mission, don't you want to make it up to me?"
The green haired man's breath hitched at the question. This wasn't right, this wasn't what was supposed to happen the second time around. Todoroki was supposed to be better. The man he loved was supposed to love him back just the same.
"Y-yes, I'll do it, but please, no close calls like last time. If anything goes wrong, get me out, please." Izuku pleaded, not having any other condition other than he gets out alive.
"Of course baby, I'd never risk your life." Todoroki cooed, placing a gentle hand on Izuku's cheek. "Never."

It was pouring ran when Izuku made his way into the office building of the Chicago Times. He was completely drenched, seeing as he had ran all the way from Todoroki's place.
"Midoriya? Oh, you really shouldn't be here- Wait, what happened? Why're you soaked? C'mere." Mina hurriedly instructed, leading him over to the desk she was working behind.
Izuku's teeth were chattering as Mina threw a thin blanket over his shoulders. She placed a hand to his forehead and her frown deepened. "Poor thing, you have a fever. Now, what the hell were you doing walking around in the pouring rain?" She asked in a scolding tone, her hands on her hips.
"Shoto and I- He was going to let me die, I couldn't just- I couldn't just stay after that, Mina. I-I ran as fast as I could, I don't have anywhere else to go now, I have a target on my back and I'm- Mina, I'm scared." He rattled off, just like Todoroki had instructed him to do. He really had ran all the way, he didn't have a choice.
Before he was sent on his way, Todoroki and him had gotten into an actual fight. Izuku was still having second thoughts and Todoroki wasn't taking too kindly to it. He had yelled and threatened Izuku on his way out. He either pulled through this successful, or there would be hell to pay.
Mina's eyes went wide at his words. "Okay, c'mon. We gotta get you upstairs." She said, holding his arm and letting him lean onto her as they went over to the elevator. The ride up was silent, other than Izuku's teeth chattering and the occasional violent shiver.
They entered the top floor to shouting and laughter, but it all ceased when the top dogs caught sight of the two hopping off the elevator.
"Well he looks like shit." Sero spoke up, being the first to want to break the silence.
"Sero! Shut it, he's freezing, wet, and he's got a fever. He ran from Todoroki and he's got nowhere else to go." Mina briefly explained to them, noticing that Katsuki wasn't present.
"Where's Bakugou?" She asked, knowing that he was the only one they needed to talk to at that moment. He was the one who said this would happen, plus he would have the final say on if Izuku was allowed to stay or be thrown onto the streets.
"His office, but he's not to happy right now, so I'd tread lightly." Jirou instructed, leaning back into Yaoyorozu as the taller woman swirled a piece of purple hair with her fingers.
Mina nodded, "Got it, thanks!" She said cheerfully, pulling Izuku along with her as she walked down the hall and to one of the last rooms.
Not bothering to knock, she strode right in.
"I swear to god-" Katsuki's threat died in his throat when he looked up and saw the drowned rat with green hair and a beaming Mina. "That was faster than I expected." He muttered, standing up.
"What happened?"
Izuku looked between Mina and the blond before reciting what he had already told Mina.
"Raccoon eyes, out." Katsuki instructed.
Mina complied with a nod and a mock salute.
There was another lapse of silence until Katsuki grunted and walked over to Izuku, making the smaller of the two flinched. The green haired boy's eyes were clenched until he felt something heavy rest on his shoulders.
He hesitantly opened his eyes to find that Katsuki had placed his coat around him. Izuku looked at the blond, clearly confused by his actions.
"Don't look at me like that, you're cold as fuck and that thin ass blanket wasn't going to help." Katsuki said, brushing off the question.
Izuku nodded and held the coat around him tighter, relishing in the heat that still lingered from Katsuki.
"Now, let's talk business."
