Chapter 2

"I can't believe you're actually doing this." Uraraka breathed out as she watched Izuku grab a piece of toast on his way out the door.

"I can't just not take the job Ura. I definitely pissed Shoto off last night and if I want to keep my head attached to my body, I need to try and make it up to him." Izuku explained, snatching his hat and placing it on top of all his messy curls.

Uraraka glared him down. "If I find out you kissed and made up, I'm getting a divorce." She told him. She was fully supportive of the homosexual aspect of it, seeing as she herself fancied women, but she despised Shoto. He was no good and Izuku deserved better.

"No kisses." Izuku agreed with a nod, walking out the door with a final wave to his best friend.

It was a little chilly that morning, seeing as it was Chicago in October. Izuku knew it was only a matter of time before it snowed.

Stuffing his hands into his pockets, he hurried down the fairly busy sidewalk. He knew where he was supposed to go, seeing as the building he was going to be working in would be one of the biggests in the city.

The cover business Shoto was forcing him to infiltrate, was the Chicago Times.

That's right, the mafia owns the newspaper.

"We need better cops." Izuku muttered to himself as he pushed the door open and walked into the heated office building. He went up to the front desk, where there was a secretary. It was a woman.

'Shoto's going to get me killed.' Izuku thought to himself, knowing he'd stick out like a sore thumb.

"Hi, I'm Izuku Midoriya. I was just hired." He said with a nervous smile, trying to hide what exactly he was there to do.

"Oh, you're the new secretary." She said with a small giggle.

Izuku sheepishly smiled at the pink haired girl. "Yeah, that'd be me." He admitted, keeping his gaze on the ground.

"You'll be up on the forty fifth floor. Yaoyorozu will be on that floor too, so she'll be showing you around and helping you get settled in." The pink woman explained.

Izuku nodded in understanding. "Okay, thank you, um..."

"Mina Ashido! Nice to meet you." She introduced herself with a beaming, closed eyed smile.

"Yeah, nice to meet you." He said back, before moving over to the elevators. The ride up was quick and silent as Izuku tried to calm down his racing heart. He was on one of the tops floors, meaning he was going to be working for someone on top of the food chain. They more than likely knew about all the illegal activities going on. It'd be even more important for Izuku to not slip up.

The metal box dinged and the doors opened, signalling to Izuku that he had arrived on the forty fifth floor. He hesitantly walked out, finding the reception area had two big desks on either side of the room and a single hallway leading past them down the middle. Along the hallway were a few different doors.

"Oh, you must be Midoriya." The woman behind one of the desks said. She had black hair pulled back into a ponytail and she wore a simple dark blue dress. (1920s women fashion, besides some flappers, was simply appalling. The men were definitely winning back then)

"Um, yes, that'd be me." He said nervously, with a small wave.

"I'm Momo Yaoyorozu, I'll be working with you most of the time." She explained with a smile of her own. "That'll be your desk," she pointed to the desk on the right of the room. "Down that hallway are bathrooms, a breakroom, and then our bosses' offices."

Izuku's eyes widened at the new information. "We have more than one boss?" He asked her in slight surprise.

"Mhm. On this floor is where all the... leaders of the company reside, which is why there's two of us. I deal with everyone on the left side of the floor and you have the right." Yaoyorozu clarified, leading Izuku over to his own desk.

Izuku took a seat, looking over his new work space. "Who are they exactly? At least the ones I'll be working with." He asked, more so he knew who he was dealing with rather than collect information for Todoroki.

"I doubt you would have heard of any of them, seeing as they're all pretty private people. On my side are Kyoka Jirou, Hanta Sero, and Fumikage Tokoyami. Your side is Eijirou Kirishima, Mina Ashido-"

"Wait what? I thought she was a receptionist downstairs?" Izuku asked her, cutting her off in confusion.

Yaoyorozu scrunched her eyebrows. "Why would you think that?"

"Because she was downstairs at the front desk. She's the one who told me where to go." Izuku told her.

The black haired woman nodded in understanding. "She was probably just down there to talk to Hagakure and decided to help you out." She said with a shrug, seeing as it wouldn't be Ashido's first time helping out other employees.

"Hm, makes sense. She seemed really nice though, I'm glad I have her on my side." Izuku said honestly, happy that at least one of his temporary bosses was nice.

"Oh yeah, Ashido is super nice, so is Kirishima." Yaoyorozu said with a nod as the elevator dinged and multiple people got off.

"Do I only have two people on my side?" Izuku asked, realizing that he never got a third name.

"Oh um, no, you have three as well. Katsuki Bakugou, he'd... not so nice." She said hesitantly.

There was a laugh behind them. "C'mon Yaoyorozu, he's not that bad." A red haired man with sharp teeth said, smiling at them both.

"Yes, yes he is." A purple haired woman said, shooting a small smile at Yaoyorozu before disappearing down the hallway.

Ashido suddenly came skipping over to Izuku's desk. "Don't pay too much attention to Jirou. She's just upset that Yaoyorozu isn't the only secretary on this floor anymore."

Yaoyorozu turned a light shade of pink, similar to Ashido's natural hue.

Izuku looked back and forth between them in confusion. "Huh? Why is she-"

"Don't worry about it." A new voice said gruffly.

Izuku peaked past the people that had collected around his desk, to get a look at the newest voice.

"Hey! You're that blond guy I ran into last night!"
