Chapter 15
⚠️Violence warning⚠️
Later that week, Izuku knew he needed to somehow shake off his new found friends and get to Todoroki. He'd actually be hunted if he didn't make some form of contact with the other.
"Hey, a few of us are going to get some groceries, wanna join?" Kaminari asked, poking his head into Katsuki's room, where Izuku and Katsuki both were. Izuku had been reading a book he'd found on the blond's desk while Katsuki got some more work done.
Izuku put the book down excitedly. "Yes please!" He said, eager for a change of scenery. It had only been a few days, but he had been driven to and from work, and those were the only two places he had been.
Kaminari shot him a smile because of how eager he seemed. Then he looked over at Katsuki. "What'd about? Think you can put down all the 'boss work' and come hang out with us for a little while?" He asked, putting air quotes around "boss work".
Well if there was any doubt in Izuku's mind that Katsuki was the leader of their mafia, it was gone now.
"Why would I ever want to hang out with you?" Katsuki shot back, looking at the other blond with loathing.
Izuku rolled his eyes, now pretty used to Katsuki behavior. "C'mon Kacchan, you've been working continuously all week. Take a breather before you burn yourself out." He reasoned.
Neither Katsuki or Kaminari blinked an eye at the nickname, seeing as Izuku refused to call Katsuki anything else now and Katsuki refused to call Izuku anything other than nerd and Deku. The little group was now accustomed to the nicknames.
"I'm not gonna burn myself out." Katsuki growled out, glaring at the papers in front of him.
"You know, the best mafia leaders know when they need to take a break and just relax." Izuku said airily, playing to Katsuki's ego.
Which Kaminari silently applauded him for.
Katsuki's fiery red eyes glared holes into the side of Izuku's head. "I hate you." He snapped, abruptly standing from his desk and grabbing his jacket. "Well? You two coming or what?" He asked as he walked out the door.
Izuku and Kaminari shared looks as they followed after him.

"Hey, um, we're really close to my place, do you think I can run there and grab a few of my things and you know, let Uraraka know I'm not dead or something? She's probably really worried." Izuku said with a weak smile as he rubbed his arm from the nerves.
Mina, who was basically running the shopping trip with Katsuki grumbling after her, looked over at Izuku and beamed. "Oh yeah, of course you can! Want someone to go with you?" She asked him, a little worried that Todoroki had men camping around the house or something.
He shook his head, but he smiled brighter at her. "No I should be good, you guys can keep shopping. I should be back soon!" He called after him, already heading down the road.
None of them even knew that his house was in the other direction.
As soon as he rounded the corner, he took off at a sprint, knowing he wouldn't have much time before the group became worried. Which made him feel worse about what he was going to do.
He didn't stop to knock when he made it to Todoroki's house, not having the time.
He was met with a gun.
"Stop fucking doing that! Knock!" Todoroki shouted once he saw the out of breath Izuku. "And why were you running?" He asked.
"I don't- I don't have a lot of time." Izuku wheezed out. He couldn't definitely be in better shape.
"Well then, what're you waiting for. What'd you learn?" Todoroki asked, putting his gun in his waistband and leaning against the wall, staring Izuku down.
Izuku glared at his ex, annoyed with how impatient he was. "Trying to breath here." He shot back, but regretted it when Todoroki raised a brow.
"You've gotten feistier, haven't you?" He said, looking vaguely amused with Izuku's slip up. Todoroki had always known he was sassy, but Todoroki didn't like sass. Izuku usually just kept his mouth shut around the half and half man.
"Katsuki Bakugou." Izuku said, still trying to catch his breath, but now he was actually standing up straight.
"What'd about him?" Todoroki asked, still not even sure who that was. As previously stated, Katsuki stayed very well hidden.
"He's the blond that held a gun to my head while you repeated that you didn't know me like a broken record. Ring a bell? Well he's the leader of that group." Izuku snapped, not being able to handle his annoyance when he had previously been able to snap and banter whenever.
In a second Todoroki was in front of him, a hand harshly grabbing his jaw and forcing Izuku to look at him. "Remember who the fuck you're talking to." He hissed, fed up with Izuku's new found boldness around him.
There was a small whimper from the smaller male because of the painful grip on his face, but he still nodded regardless. He was released a few moments later.
Izuku rubbed his face where Todoroki had held him. "I'm sorry." He said softly.
Todoroki let out a sigh, knowing that he probably overdid it and if he wanted to keep Izuku on his side, he'd have to be more gentle. As a sign of remorse, Todoroki carefully placed a kiss on the side of Izuku's jaw. "No, I'm sorry. I forgot how fragile you are." He said with a teasing smile that made Izuku's heart melt all over again.
'You are very, very stupid, Izuku Midoriya.' He thought to himself.
"Did you find anything else out, baby?" Todoroki asked, really laying it on thick now. Somewhere in his lovestruck head, Izuku knew that, but he couldn't be bothered at the moment. He was a sucker for pet names.
Izuku thought about it, now realizing that the gang had done a good job of keeping actual mafia business away from him. "Not really, they're- or well mostly Bakugou- are still weary of me. They tend to keep mafia and important stuff secret." He answered honestly. "I can tell you when they get and leave work, I can't help with where they live, I can't remember all the turns, which I think they do on purpose, I can tell you who sleeps where in the house though, but um, that's about it."
To say Todoroki was annoyed that the only piece of information he received was something he basically already knew, was an understatement. "Think Izu, was there anything that they maybe have scheduled or talked about, but didn't say any specifics? Like an event, but you don't know what exactly it is?" He pressed, hoping for something. Literally anything at this point.
Izuku placed a hand to his chin and thought. "Oh!" He said, but snapped his mouth shut, unsure if he really wanted to help Todoroki this much. If he told him, and it ended up being something important, there would be no going back for him.
"What?" Todoroki asked, his monotone expression morphing to a glare when he realized that Izuku was actually thinking of withholding information.
"Oh, um, it's nothing. I thought I remembered something like that, but it was just one of Mina's hair appointments." Izuku smoothly lied.
At least he thought he did.
"Why're you lying to me, Izuku?" Todoroki asked, stepping away from the shorter male and moving back to lean on the wall.
Izuku's eyes widened at how easily Todoroki could call him out on lying. "I-I'm not! It's really just a hair appointment!" He assured, but not very convincingly.
"You're lying. You always pick at your sleeve when you're lying." Todoroki said coolly, letting his blank look return, which was far scarier than the glare to Izuku.
"Shinsou!" Todoroki called up the stairs. A few seconds the purple haired man came into view, sitting on the banister and looking down at the scene.
"Yeah boss?" He asked, looking more tired than usual.
"Izuku knows an important date that he feels the need to lie about. Figure it out and make it quick, he's got to get back soon." Todoroki instructed, pushing himself off the wall and heading up stairs, probably to his office.
"You got it." Shinsou said, hopping off the banister and dropping to the floor underneath, right in front of Izuku.
The green haired boy snapped back to reality and tried to run for the door, but Shinsou was quicker and definitely stronger. He grabbed him quickly, throwing him back behind him and into a small table that held a flower vase. Both the table and vase broke from the impact.
"C'mon Midoriya, you know I don't want to do this. Just tell me what you're hiding and then you can be on your way." Shinsou said with a sigh as he watched Izuku try and scoot away from him and towards the back door.
"I'm not hiding anything! I swear, Shinsou!" Izuku shouted as he was picked up by his hair and thrown into the living room.
"Really? I didn't even buy that." Shinsou said with disappointment heavy in his voice. "You've always been a terrible liar."
"I'm not-" He was cut off when Shinsou kicked him right in the stomach. "I'm not lying!" He shouted. Another kick to the gut.
"This is pathetic, Midoriya." Shinsou said, squatting down to look at the small green haired boy that he actually liked. They were... not necessarily friends, but they didn't dislike each other.
"So are you, beating up a defenseless person who's telling the truth." Izuku said, gritting his teeth in pain.
That earned him a kick to the face.
Then Shinsou was in his line of sight once again, leaning closer to Izuku. "Just fucking tell me. If I have to break your knees backwards, I swear to god I will." He said, sneering down at the younger.
"You're too soft for the mafia Shin." Izuku said before spitting in his face, blood and all.
A few seconds later Izuku was sent through the glass coffee table, followed by continuous kicks to various parts of his body. "Fuck you, Izuku Midoriya." Shinsou said through gritted teeth as he took out all his anger on the innocent boy. Well not completely innocent, but he definitely didn't deserve this.
When Izuku still refused to say anything, Shinsou groaned and pulled out a pocket knife. The weak and beaten boy's eyes widened at the sight.
"Gonna talk now?" Shinsou asked, kneeling down next to Izuku and dragging the knife across the side of his face, leaving a small scratch, but it was just enough to sting.
Izuku still held his tongue.
"C'mon Midoriya, don't make me start carving into you, neither of us wants to deal with that tonight. It's a hassle to clean" Shinsou said, honestly just wanting to go to sleep. He had been up doing this exact same thing to someone else the whole of the previous night.
Izuku shook his head, but still said nothing.
Until the knife was dragged down his arm, taking off a small chuck of his skin. Then he screamed.
"Just tell me, god dammit. If it's really just a hair appointment, then what's the big deal?" Shinsou asked with a lazy smirk, knowing Izuku was about to crack.
"Three weeks! In three weeks they have a huge meeting or something. The other secretary and I aren't allowed to go, so it has to have something to do with the mafia part." Izuku spilled, not being able to take it anymore. He really thought he'd be able to hold out, but what was he holding out for? It's not like anyone was going to come bursting in to save him and Todoroki definitely wasn't going to have a change of heart.
"Where?" Shinsou asked, grabbing hold of Izuku's arm, right where he'd dug the knife into him.
Izuku let out another ear piercing scream at the contact. "I don't- I don't-"
Shinsou dug two fingers into the cut, making Izuku scream out again. "Where?" He hissed.
"The Chicago Times building! Where I work! I'm supposed to have the day off for it. That's all I know, please just- please stop!" Izuku said, his breath ragged as he pleaded with Shinsou to let him go.
The purple haired man stood up, rubbing his bloody hands on his shirt. He turned behind him, having noticed that Todoroki had stayed at the top of the stairs to observe. "What'd I do with him now?" He asked his boss.
"I'm not particularly happy with how hard he fought to keep that a secret, but he has no use if he doesn't go back. So let's leave his new friends a nice little gift." Todoroki said with a small, pleasant smile.
Shinsou looked back over at the nearly passed out Izuku. "If I leave him on a doorstep, do we think he'll last until morning?" He asked.
Todoroki rolled his eyes. "Jesus Shinsou, you cut up his arm a little bit, it's not like you slit his wrists. He'll be just fine, the bleeding will probably stop soon." He said, but then tilted his head as he took a better look at how deep Shinsou went.
"On second thought, might want to cauterize it."
That Izuku heard. 'Well shit.'
