Ruin

Before Harry could react to anything else he stunned Draco. He got up and looked at Fred, holding out his hand as though to hold the boy up. They had to get out of this house until it burned up around them.
"Fred!" He yelled through the crashing and blasting noises "FREDDIE!" Harry knelt down and rolled him over, his eyes were open and his mouth was agape.
"Freddie?" Harry whispered again, "No..." Harry was checking for a pulse, frantically trying to get a heartbeat, already knowing that there wouldn't be one.
"Oh god no. No, no, NO!" he screamed, tears falling on the redhead's pale, stony face. Harry was rocking a little, the pain of the loss like an open wound cutting right through his soul. He didn't want to go on, but somebody grabbed them and dragged them from the house as it began to collapse.

Harry started coughing when he got outside, still crying and his nose running looking around for the boy.
"Where is he? Fred?" Harry was sobbing as he saw George touching Fred's face, the twin's death dawning on his brother for the first time. Harry was still coughing, he'd breathed in so much smoke and his lungs ached. As he looked around, he saw everyone standing in the garden, watching as the house that had always been a home to him, slowly fall to ashes. The extra rooms were falling and crashing into the grass below. Molly and Arthur were holding one another, Molly wiping tears from her eyes and Arthur hugging her tightly, watching his home become a ruin, they hadn't seen Fred yet.
Ron was holding Ginny back, she looked like she was screaming but Harry couldn't hear a thing aside from the ringing that was occupying his mind. He saw Elle walk out of the open front door, unharmed and a stony expression on her face, and then she disappeared into a cloud of smoke with the rest of the Death Eaters. Ron was looking over at Fred's body, crying silent tears of his own. Hermione was alone, knelt on the grass, her hand over her mouth. The Flames bounced back in all their eyes as Harry scanned them before looking back over at Fred.
The Weasley had taken the curse for him.
Draco was going to kill him.
But Fred was the one that had saved him at the expense of his own life. He'd seen Death Eaters, why hadn't they taken him? Why was Harry still here?
All he could see was Draco, his wand between Harry's eyes, waiting to kill him.
"It was a trick. All of it." Harry whispered to himself. "It was all to get us at our weakest." He took the cloak off and grabbed Hermione.
"We need to go somewhere safe!" She swallowed, wiped her damp eyes and nodded.
"The Order?" She suggested, her throat thick with tears. Harry nodded and walked over to Molly and Arthur
"We need to get to the order, we're not safe here."
"Not anymore." Molly shook her head, "Grab the kids and apparent them there." she said to Arthur who agreed curtly, grabbing Ron and Ginny disappearing with a pop.

Harry was one of the last to get to Grimmauld Place. He was surprised to find it empty.
"Sirius is in hiding again." Molly confirmed as she cooked dinner, still crying "Said the ministry had been lenient when they found him here, giving him the chance to escape." She wiped away a tear.
"I'm sorry Molly, about everything." Harry sounded defeated and he was, he left sluggish even though his mind was racing.
"These things happen, especially nowadays." She blew her nose "It didn't matter that he was already in the house- they would have found a way in." She gave him a sad smile and kept cooking and snuffling.
Ginny was still screaming upstairs, you could hear her all through the house. Harry stopped Hermione on her way down the stairs.
"What happened to her?"
"It's Elle." Hermione breathed, putting down the bowl of warm water "She was a death eater. She used the Cruciatus curse on Ginny before starting the fire in Ginny's room. She'd been playing and manipulating Ginny all along." Hermione's voice broke as she finished, hugging
Harry tightly, crying into his shoulder.
"There's going to be another war isn't there?" She whispered, against his clothes.

Harry nodded, the realness of the situation sinking in.
"Yes, there is."
