A Christmas Surprise

Somehow Harry hadn't realised that last night had been Christmas Eve, which by connection meant he was waking up on Christmas day.
"You're still asleep!?" Fred jumped onto him, bounding Harry out of bed
"Ugh, go away! What time is it?" He whined, trying to roll over but failing.
"It's half seven which is a lie in on Christmas morning!"
"It's Christmas?" Harry was dumbfounded,
"Yeah, dumbass! Come on, there are presents for you."

He let Fred pry him out of bed and down the stairs where a tired bunch of witches and wizards were opening gifts, laughing loudly over hot drinks and champagne.
Harry wasn't expecting anything but because Fred and Molly had told him to go and sit with the others, he did. He positioned himself on one of the couches that were out of the way of the main action, sipping a hot chocolate and listening to the radio which was playing wizarding Christmas songs. The couch cushions dipped toward one end and he saw Ron had come over, Hermione sitting on his other side, both of them holding gifts.
"We don't hate you, Harry." Ron sighed, a grin on his face.
"You're just very hard to like sometimes." Hermione finished, nudging him slightly and handing him a gift "This is my one."

It was a framed picture of the three of them in their first year, after the trials and their first encounter with Voldemort. Harry was hugging the two of them, probably laughing about something Ron had said.
"It's so you don't forget who your friends are." She added, squeezing his hand and hugging him tightly "We're always here. You don't have to go through this alone."
"Come on, enough of the emotional stuff! Open mine!" Ron begged, elbowing Harry in the ribs.
Ron had given him a plaque saying 'The Chosen One is Sleeping, Do not interrupt!" With little sparkles that dulled and glistened alternatively.
"Thanks, mate." Harry laughed, elbowing him hard.
"It's for your bunk, just so we all know not to wake you!" Ron was laughing too, clutching his side from Harry's abuse "You're grumpy enough as is, we don't need you to be sleep deprived as well."
"You've got this one too!" Molly handed him a soft package and he'd been looking forward to getting a new jumper.
Of course, this year it was a classic Red and gold striped one with Harry's initials on the back, thus representing the last year of Hogwarts.
"Thank you, Molly, I love it." He grinned, standing to hug her tightly, after all she'd done.
"It's tradition to have your house colours to send you off into the real wizarding world!" She smiled, holding him too.

It was later, after lunch when everyone was sitting around the living room, playing games or eating minced pies or sleeping, in Arthur Weasley's case. Harry had been down to see Draco, taking him a present to include him in the festivities. He'd been getting stronger, regaining his ability to walk and move somewhat normally. But today Draco had been more reserved, looking solum and a little jittery. Harry was reading again, more for his sake than the ailed boys.
"Do you still love me, Harry?" Draco whispered, putting his hand on the book drawing the dark haired boy's attention to him.
"I don't think I ever stopped loving you," Harry replied the truth that he'd internalised for a while now, trying to keep it hidden. But after hearing about the attack, Harry felt a terrible sense of mortality and lack of time to really express his true feelings.
"But what about the 'someone else'?" Draco stared blankly down at Harry who was looking at the ground.
"Draco-" Harry sighed, raising his eyes to meet the other boy's stare when something inside him sparked and suddenly he was kissing the blonde like he'd wanted to for months. It was rough and a little wild but neither of them were pulling away.
"We shouldn't-" Harry whispered between kisses but Draco ignored him, carrying on hungrily "Draco-" Harry held him back slightly, panting and eyes closed trying his best to restrain himself
"You're hurt. You need to rest." 'I have to properly break up with my boyfriend' is the part that Harry didn't mention. He'd come far too close to cheating on Fred multiple times and he'd been there before and Harry hated it. He drew back, running a hand through his hair trying to play down how dishevelled he felt.
"Merry Christmas, Draco," Harry whispered before he left, the Slytherin turning and grinning at him but not returning the saying.

When Harry emerged he heard his name,

"Hey Harry, come here!" Fred called him into the kitchen.
"What's up?"  He asked, leaning on the counter beside the redhead
"I got you this." He handed Harry a little black box, looking around to make sure no one could see the two of them.
"Freddie-" Harry began to protest but he insisted, it was only something small.
Harry opened the box to find a large, golden coin.
"It's a lucky coin. If you find yourself in a moment of change you can flip it and it will grant you good or bad luck." Fred touched it for a moment "People say they don't work but I've seen some people in casino's flipping a coin like this and winning the jackpot, as well as pulling one bad card in your last draw."
"I love it," Harry whispered, feeling bad about what he wanted to say. "Freddie, I don't know how to put this-" He began, breathing deeply "But I think we should break-up..."
He'd barely finished the sentence when a large explosive bang sounded above them, screams echoing through the house. Flames began to lick their way up the walls, the heat in the house becoming unbearable.
"GET OUT!" They heard yelling and Harry was running for the door, stunning a masked figure in his way. His body had entered danger mode and he was trying to find his friends and get them out. Harry looked over to see Eleanor running up and down the stairs, flames exploding from the end of her wand, but he was too dazed for it to settle on him. Draco already was in the living room, he looked scared and alone.
"Draco, come on we have to get out!" Harry was yelling, trying to get him to leave. But Draco turned to look at him, the boy was still. It was as though he was moving in water, Harry couldn't move at normal speed when Draco raised his wand.
"Avada-" The green energy was building around his wand with tears in his eyes and Harry was certain he would die, he'd never been so sure of anything in his life.

As the green spark left his wand Harry closed his eyes and hit the floor, a force pushing his chest down.
And then he opened his eyes and saw Fred's body on the ground next to him.
