Hit the Gas!
I jump in the passenger seat and Cookie, obviously, in the divers, cause I'm still only 15. I'm not even illegible for my drivers license yet.
The engine started up and it roared to life. You could feel the vibrations throughout the whole car, and then...he took off.
Not like he started the car and casually took off, this was more like was started a race and went to first place right at the start.
"Why are we going so fast?" I ask, leaning left as Cookie pulled the car towards the right.
"So they don't catch us." He says, pressing g his foot down harder and going even faster.
"Who? Everyone is lying back on the field!" I shout looking back into the reef view mirror, seeing nothing there.
The road was incredibly bumpy and at this speed, if we hit a rock of the right size, we could go flying.
"Oh Jumpin' Butterballs..." He mumbles, looking quickly into the rear view mirror.
So, being me, I leaned my head out the window and look behind us. And there, sure enough, was a truck covered in camouflage, it looked like it belonged to the army.
"Here, take the wheel." He says as we get close to a bridge,
"WHAT?!?" I shout grabbing onto the wheel as he grabs something from under his chair... guns. "YOU HAVE GUNS IN YOUR CAR?!" I shout at him and he just looks at me and smirks.
"Don't everybody?" He says, before opening the door and leaning out of it and firing from both hands.
"Not usually!"
Meanwhile, I'm trying to keep the car steady. I have never driven a car before, not even up the driveway when my sister got her license. So, for me, this is a struggle leaning over and grabbing the wheel.
The bridge is ending, so Cookie has to get back into the car, unless he wants to get hit by a tree, and have his door ripped off.
Then, a rapid for happened at our end. I can see the bullets hitting the concrete around us, and then smashing back windshield to pieces, making me scream in the process.
"Cookie! You might wanna get in!" I shout to the practically James Bond butler handing out the door.
A shout of pain from his caused him to shut the door and get back ingot the car, taking control once again of the vehicle.
"Cookie!" I shout looking at his right arm, which was bleeding through his tux.
"It's fine. I'm a tough Cookie." He says with a cheerful glint in his eyes.
"Why the hell is the army even after us?" I question as he throws one of the guns into my lap. I pick it up and Hofmann it at the ready.
"It ain't the army toots. That's a Renatus truck. Now, do you know how to use on of them?" He says indicating to the gun.
I look at him wide eyed, "isn't it pull the trigger?" I ask and he nods
"Basically, now get out there." He says.
"You're not kidding, are you?" I say and he shakes his head.
I slightly open the door, and behind to shoot. I was able to get two shots out before having to close the door completely.
"Shit..." I mumble, and Cookie looks at me sceptically.
"Language..." He mumbles. Great, this guy it telling me to watch my language when I'm being shot at?? The nerve of this guy.
Actually, scratch that. He's the only reason I'm alive right now.
I look through the back windshield, which has left me a pretty big gap to shoot through.
I hold out my gun, ready to fire at them, but I think they saw it coming, shooting through, putting giant cracks in the windshield.
What is that stuff made of??
"Well, you gotta get on the roof now."
