Five
Kaneki couldn’t feel his body, the pain almost too much for his mind. But then again, he couldn’t even feel the pain. He tried to move and the quinque bindings gripped him with a new intensity.
“Ah yes. The new bindings that I have created seem to be working well.” A voice said. Kaneki’s head moved up to looked at the faint light that was moving towards him. He thought that he had heard the voice before, but there were so many things in his mind, that he couldn’t remember anything like a man he didn’t know. Then again… how would he manage that in the first place?
The figure came into view, his weasely form almost causing Kaneki to want to shut his eyes, but they were wide open with anxiety. “I brought a dim light, so I wouldn’t hurt your eyes. But when I begin my “procedures”… well. That will be a different story.”
Kaneki’s eyes flashed around the faintly lit room, images of Jason running through his head. He gasped for air as the bindings became tighter, and he couldn’t breathe.
“Oh?” the man said, his glasses glinting and Kaneki knew that it was the man that had spoken to Amon before he come to this dark place. “Are you scared?” he asked, setting the lamp down as he moving his hand into his pocket, moving closer to Kaneki. “Are you scared of, say…” he pulled a large needle full of grey liquid from his lab coat’s pocket, drawing it close to Kaneki’s eyes to show him. Kaneki gasped and tried to pull away, his blood beginning to run down his arms as the bindings dug farther into him.
The man laughed, spinning the needle around his finger. “Have you been traumatiser?” he asked. He moved right in front of Kaneki and ran the sharp tip of the needle under his eye.
Kaneki gasped, straining to get away. “Stop…” his ragged voice said.
The man chuckled. “Oh, this will be fun.” His fingers reached forward and pulled Kaneki’s eyelids away from one of his eyes, bringing the needle close to him.
Kaneki was suddenly lost in a flood of terrible memories. Things he had spent so much time to forget. He remembered Jason, tearing apart his body just for the sake of it. The awful feeling of his finger and toes re-growing were something that had been so close to being lost to him. But now the memories were shoved back into existence with a horrid intensity, almost as if he was reliving it.
And that’s when Kaneki realized. He would be reliving it. They would show no mercy. None at all.
Something sharp penetrated his eye and Kaneki screamed with the pain of memories. The man that inflicted the pain began to laugh as though he was enjoying seeing Kaneki in pain. Or perhaps, he was thinking about what others things he was going to make Kaneki suffer through.
The man pulled the needle out of Kaneki’s eye, smiling with an evil joy.
Kaneki gasped in pain and his hands gripped the sides of the chair he was trapped to. “…seven-hundred fifty-five… seven-hundred forty-eight… seven-hundred forty-one…” there was utter darkness again, and tears began to stream down Kaneki’s face.
‘Not again….’ He thought, his mind snapping under the stress.
“… seven-hundred thirty-four…” he whispered.
The darkness seemed to close in of him, and he knew that there would be and was no escape. There would be no escape because his friends would die, and he wouldn’t live with that.
His mind drifted for a moment as he counted off numbers, trying to remember happy things. He could see Touka’s smiling face as she thought Kaneki hadn’t been watching as he cleaned the counter. She was so innocent… but not.
The memories made him sad and tears fell down his face. ‘Why didn’t I go with you when you asked?’ he thought.
His tears streaked down onto his bloodied arms. “Why?” he asked the darkness. “If I love you so much, and I want to protect you… why can’t I just trust you?” he said, his voice rasping.
There was light again and Kaneki squeezed his eyes shut as a few people walked into the room. There was bright light and Kaneki tried to see who the people were, but the light was too bright.
“Are you ready to begin, Kaneki?” a man’s voice said, evil thick in it.
‘Please save me.’ Kaneki thought, the man who had spoken coming close to him with some awful tool to tear his body apart. ‘Please… Touka… I want to see you at least one more time…’
Hey little centipedes! I'm sorry this took a long time, but I've been at writers block with all of my stoaries! I hope you can forgive me and keep reading! Love you all, Mari
