spell time...gimme me my spell book
(This isn't in Mal's POV, I just thought the chapter sounded good).
----
The six VKs are in the kitchen trying to figure out how to do the spell Mal’s gonna make for Ben and Charleigh.
“All right. It says we still need two tears, and we never cry.” Mal says as he has a tiny frown on her face.
“Let’s just chop up some onions.” Dizzy says as she’s sitting on the counter beside Mal and she grabs an onion and Mal shakes her head no.
“No, Diz. It says that we need a tear of human sadness, and if these love potions get the best we have to follow it exactly.” Mal says explaining to them why they need a human spell.
“A tear is a tear.” Jay shrugs as Evie and Dizzy shake their head no at him.
“That’s not true, Jay. They do not have antibodies, and enzymes, but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones than a reflex tear.” Dizzy says all in one breath, what she learned about in Chemistry.
“Listen to you Iz.” Ana sys with a smile on her face.
“Yeah I knew that.” Jay says as Dizzy and Ana shake their heads in amusement, before anyone can say anything else, the kitchen doors open revealing a half-sleepy Charleigh.
“There you are, Mal! I was looking for you. Apparently after you did Lonnie’s hair a bunch of girls wanted you to do their hair!” Charleigh says to the purple haired girl.
Once Charleigh sees what they are doing she has a small smile on her face.
“Midnight snack, huh? What are you guys cooking?” Charleigh asks them as Jay has a faint smile on his face.
“Nothing special. Just cookies.” Mal says as Charleigh leans forward a little and dips her pinkie finger in the batter and the VKs start freaking out as it was Ben and her love spell that she dipped her finger into.
“What? I’ll never double dip.” Charleigh says holding up her other hand in defense and the six of them retract believing her answer.
“Feel anything?” Ana asks her and the blonde shakes her head no at the red haired girl.
“Yeah, like maybe it might be missing something?” Mal asks her and Charleigh has a slight smile as she makes her way to the refrigerator.
“Hey there.” Jay says to Charleigh and she gives him a small smile.
“It could use some chips.” Charleigh says and the six VKs tilt their heads in confusion.
“And those are….” Mal says trailing off and Charleigh goes to the fridge getting a bowl of chocolate chips and walks back to the gang.
“Chocolate chips. Just the most important food group. Wait, didn’t any of your moms ever make you guys, like, chocolate chip cookies? Like, when you’re feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven, with a big old glass of milk, and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective, and why are you all looking at me like that?” Charleigh says as she sort forgot that they’re a bunch of villain kids and she stopped talking as their heads were down except for Dizzy’s who was eating the chocolate chips, and the blonde has two baby tears rolling down her rosy cheeks.
“Yeah, well big bummer, but we have to get these into the oven, so thank you so much for coming by. Really, really have a good night, I’ll see you tomorrow. Evil dreams.” Mal says pushing Charleigh out of the kitchen and she waves a little to Jay and he waves back to her.
“Night.” Charleigh says as she’s out of the kitchen and Mal takes a deep breath as she walks back to the group.
“Okay, boys cookie sheet. Diz, oven.” Mal says giving the three of them jobs that they needed to do, and they started on their jobs.
“Yes, ma’am.” They said doing what they were told to do.
------
Charleigh was not listening to the lecture that her annoying older brother was giving her and she was growing annoyed to say the least.
“You know how upset Dad and Mom are, about this Charleigh Grace?” Chad says scolding Charleigh as Jay listens to the conversation, and to say that he was scared when Charleigh loses her temper was an understatement.
“You know what, just leave it! You’re just jealous that I actually have friends and you don’t! Can’t you and Audrey just accept who they are. Not for who their parents are. For once in your life can you think of someone other than yourself!” Charleigh snaps on her brother and he jumps out of his skin hearing his sister talk like that.
Charleigh walks away from her brother, and Jay decides to go after her to cheer her up, and calm her down. He might’ve only known her since they’ve got here, but he feels like he’s known her forever.
“Leigh!” Jay says as he finally caught up with the girl and she turns around and sees Jay.
“It’s okay.” Jay says to her, and without thinking he brought her into a hug, she didn’t question and hugged him back.
The two broke the hug and Charleigh had a tear stained face, and this made Jay’s heartbreak at the sight. He doesn’t like seeing her like this, okay he’s never seen her like this.
He wiped the tears that were on her cheeks, and she gave him a sad smile, and he returned it.
“Remember when we made cookies last night? Well I wanted to give you this.” Jay says as he grabs the cookies from his back pocket and hands the little bag to Charleigh. “I know you love chocolate chips.”
“How’d you know?” Charleigh asks Jay as she grabs the bag as he has a smirk.
“Ben told me.” Jay says as Charleigh nods her head buying his lie.
Charleigh took a bite out of the cookie and she didn’t realize that the other VKs were watching from behind her.
“I think, I love you, Jay.” Charleigh says as she feels something weird happening inside of her, and Jay sensed that she was going to scream and he covered her mouth with his hand.
“What the heck was in that cookie?” Dizzy asks as she looks up to Ana and Mal and they shrug their shoulders.
In Chemistry class, Evie is looking frantically for her magic mirror, and she starts panicking and I shake my head as I’m sitting next to Chad because of an assignment as he was my partner. Chad took the mirror when Evie went to the bathroom and turned it over to Mr. Deley.
“Looking for something? Thank you, Chad. It’s gratifying to see someone still respects the honor code. It will be my recommendation that you’re expelled.” Mr. Deley says as he has the mirror that Evie was looking for and my eyes widen at the sight. Evie glares at Chad that she realizes that everyone isn’t who they seem.
Chad seemed like he was a great guy except for the whole part that he was full of himself, and all that.
“I….” Evie says trailing off to come up with an excuse, and Doug chimes in.
“It isn’t fair. Obviously she wasn’t cheating since she didn’t have that…whatever it is.” Doug says defending Evie as I nod my head at the teacher.
“It’s called a magic mir…” Evie says interrupting Doug and he glares at Evie.
“You’re not helping. Stop. Maybe she needed another pencil.” Doug says to the teacher hoping that he would buy what he was saying.
“Actually, I was…” Evie says once again trying to interrupt, but Doug stops her from doing so as I have faint smile on my face as I can definitely see Evie and Doug being together.
“Really, don’t help.” Doug tells Evie and the blue haired girl looks down, not even bothering to interrupt again. Doug looks back at the teacher, giving him his best begging look without making it too obvious. “Please.”
“Please.” Evie says to the teacher, hoping that it would work and he sighs before agreeing with the two.
“Well, if you can pass this test, I’ll return your property and let the matter drop.” The teacher says and Evie and I smile as does Doug that their convincing worked.
“Nice job Ev.” I say as we got our tests back and Evie nods her head at me, before mouthing, ‘thanks’ as I was already done with mine, and then Mr. Deley gave me mine which was an A+. I smile as big as I could not caring if my cheeks would be hurting later.
