🌟 Chapter 2 🌟

Wishing Upon a Star

[Present Day and Age 18]

Today is my 18th birthday. I am finally turning 18 and becoming an adult. Well, a young adult at least. I mean usually, most teens who are finally are turning 18 would be really excited. Well...

In MY case...

"My lady your mother requests you downstairs in that dress over there in 15 minutes. Please be ready for tonight's festivities," The house caretaker, Lou, says as she places a pair of black heels next to my bed.

I sigh groaning a little as I roll over on my giant peach color bed hugging tightly onto my Eren and Levi plushies, who were from my favorite anime series Attack on Titan, pouting.

"Why do we always have to do these parties? It's just an excuse for adults to drink," I state without a second thought as I bury my face into my Levi plushie.

"My lady I do prohibit you talking like that to any of the guests tonight," Lou smiles to me patting the top of my head.

"Then don't make me go!" I told her as I roll myself into up the sheets.

"My lady I am afraid you are not in control of that decision."

"Why? It's my birthday."

"I know but you aren't the one paying for it. Now, are you," Lou states standing up straight and she leaves my room.

I listen as her footsteps get further and further away from my room as they echo out in the hallway. I lay in my bed waiting until I can't hear her steps anymore. I sigh as I put my Eren plushie down and pick up the Levi plushie up to my face and nuzzle into it.

"Why is being rich so complicated?!" I rant to my plushie as I look up at the lovely dress that was on a mannequin.

I roll my eyes as I put my Levi plushie down and make my way over to the dress and slowly strip off my clothes and slid the dress on.

I quickly did my hair and put on some light makeup not wanting to deal with my parents scolding and lecturing me. I sigh blushing a little as I stare at my reflection in my giant mirror that took up hall of my wall. I pose and analyze how I look.

"It's a good dress. But it's not me," I mumble to myself as I walk to the door and made my way out of my room down the long lonely hallway as loud classical music blasts from the ballroom.

I took a deep breath as I put on a fake yet gorgeous smile before I step foot towards the doors to the ballroom as they open up by bodyguards. Quickly the brightly lit chandelier crystal lights shine through the door as classical music blasts louder than before. I enter into the ballroom that was filled with people wearing their best clothes and showing off their luxury and riches. Others gossip amongst one another leaning into each other's ears. Men eyeing me down which made me feel disgusted but I ignore it as I make it towards my parents who were in the middle of the ballroom surrounded by their "friends".

More like the people who just use them for money.

"Well if it isn't the birthday girl! Come here!" My mother calls out to me motioning me over.

"Here goes nothing,"  I mumble to myself as I put on a fake smile waltzing over to my parents with grace.

"I don't believe you told me about this one," A man leans into my mother who just let out a laugh.

"My, my! I haven't?! Oh well, this one is the second oldest of the three. This is (y/n) and this party is to celebrate her steps into being a young adult," My mother says in a sickly sweet tone.

I don't get how my father fell in love with such a two-faced woman.

My father adjusts his glasses as he takes a sip of his red wine. He sends me a smile looking into my eyes.

"Happy Birthday little star," My father sent me a heartwarming smile.

"Thank you, mother and father. Please do enjoy tonight's festivities. My parents made sure to go all out to do as you please," I state in a fake formal tone as I talk to all of their friends.

I didn't have any contact with any of my siblings. Sherri was in a world of her own. Simon was already socializing and making not friends but connections. Just connections. Simon is more like mom. Appearance and status are key to living a happy life. He has joy in using those connections. Sherri was being whisked away by her husband. Well, they aren't married yet but they have been together for 6 years. Sherri is 26 and you would think she would be married by now.

Sherri didn't want anything to do with the family.

Simon is busy and is self-absorbed.

Mom is basking away in dad's wealth.

Dad is barely home working and works hard to keep us together and happy.

And with me...?

I'm just there.

I take a sip of sparkling water since I am not a big alcoholic fan. I watch as everyone down alcohol like no tomorrow or a few lit a few cigars. I glaze over at the fake crowd of people who came to my birthday party. I smile as a few men stare at me with lust. I can tell what they want.

Dirty bastards. I would kick their ass if I could.

"Hey there babe, I don't really know you sweets but could I have this dance?" A male with blonde hair and brown eyes smirks as he bows to me and tries to sway me with a wide smile.

I look past him watching as girls began to gossip and glare at me.

So this one is a favorite pick.

"I would love to however I am afraid I do not know how to dance. Excuse me," I push my way past him as he tries to get my attention again.

I continue to push my way through swiftly losing him amongst the crowd. I take a chance to catch a breath as I sneak away onto the balcony secluding myself from the dense and intoxicating reality of that environment.

"It makes me sick," I say to myself as I let out a breath of relief taking in the cool night air.

I make my way over to the marble rail and stare down at the fountain. I look up at the stars that twinkle and dance in the dark night sky.

All of a sudden I felt a hand on my shoulder and I let out a small yelp as I turn around to see my father standing there smiling to me.

[CUE THE MUSIC]

"Enjoying tonight?"

"If you mean the party in all honesty not really," I said flat out looking down letting go of that fake smile rubbing my sore cheeks.

"I see, I'm sorry little star. Your mother and I just wanted you to have the best birthday party," He says to me in a humble tone.

"You say that every year," I tell him as I look away from him with a hint of sadness in my eyes.

There was a moment of silence as my father rubs my back in circular motion to reassure and comfort me.

"I'm sorry little star," He says solemnly.

"Just don't. Please just leave me alone," I tell him pulling away from him hugging myself.

He tries to say something but he quickly closes his mouth as he reaches inside his tuxedo pocket and places a small rectangular velvet box on the rail and walks away back inside to join the crowd in the ballroom.

As soon as I heard the door click I slowly look over my shoulder and scan the tiny rectangular box. I hesitantly reach my hand out to it and took it into my hands slowly opening it to reveal a small necklace with moonstone and a pair of silver wings.

I smile to myself as I get the hint that my father knows how much I love Attack on Titan. I laugh softly as I put on the necklace. I slowly rub my fingers over the small moonstone as it lights up like the moon in the night sky as it showers the ground with its lovely moonlight. I look inside the box to see a small note inside it.

'Happy Birthday my little star. You are still as beautiful as an angel. May you spread your wings and take flight.'

- Love

Your father

I smile as small tears form in the corner of my eyes quickly wiping it away so it doesn't mess up my makeup and also it doesn't show how much of a crybaby I am. My father is probably the only one who keeps my sanity here in this family.

"Thanks, dad."

I smile to myself as I gaze up at the night sky as I slowly sneak my way down to the water fountain and hum softly to myself happily. I enjoy the peace and quiet of the night. The tranquility of it all. It's so peaceful. The sound of the water swishing away from the water fountain drowns out the loud classical music.

For some odd reason as I got closer to the fountain I think my eyes are defying me but the water began to glow into a very bright blue. The water was glowing from its bright hue. I felt something pulling me in. I take a few steps closer staring at the water fountain intently.

As soon as I got close enough I sit by the water fountain not caring for dirtying my dress and I peer over to see my reflection but then it quickly began to fade and show a familiar pair of silver eyes and black raven hair. My heart beat stops as I catch a glimpse of the person I was staring at.

"Levi?" I softly say his name as I unconsciously reach my hand out to touch the water feeling the coolness of it against my fingers.

Not too long after I was engulfed by the bright blue water and I lost all consciousness as my sight became a blur and fades into complete darkness.
