Chapter 42: The Start of Normal

" I meant to ask is there a town nearby? "

" There is, it's a little down the ways. Do we need groceries? "

" Yeah, we're about to run out of the food Aileen gave us. "

" Already? I can run into town to get some food. "

" Let's both go. That way we can watch our for each other. "

" Right. Go on ahead and go outside and we'll leave for the market. "

   " Okay. "

You left Jin in the kitchen and walked through the living room to the front door. You opened it and stepped outside into the warm, almost cold, air. The grass was a beautiful green color and everything looked like it was made in spring. You sat on the porch and listened to the birds chirping and the rabbits were hopping around.

   " Are you ready? "

You looked behind yourself and saw Jin leaving through the front door with a bag around his shoulders and hanging by his side. He wore normal clothes instead of his assassin clothes, which were black.

   " Yeah, let's go. "

I stood up from the step and Jin joined me on the ground. We started walking through the trees towards the direction Jin said the village was in. The sun was high in the sky and it was shining down on us and it warmed my shoulders.

" So, you said we would have to run away at another time because Quinn would catch on. When do you want to leave? "

" I'm not sure. I don't know how close they are to us. "

" Where are we going to go? "

" I was thinking we could maybe travel to the next village over and continue bouncing from village to village. "

   " Really? "

" Yeah, because we've cleaned up that house and I don't want to abandon it after just cleaning it up. "

" I get it. How long do you think he'll go after us? "

" I don't know. I just hope he doesn't catch Aileen. She did so much and went through so much with her husband and now . . . she just wants a normal life. "

" Yeah, and she went to Elina's kingdom? "

" Yes, she did. She is going to live there and make clothes to sell. "

" She is good at making clothes. "

" Yeah, she made ours. "

" And they're really nice but we probably need to get some new ones. "

" It would be for the best, also while we're in the village we're going to use different names okay? The king will know your name like the back of his hand and he'll know mine because he's going to blae me for 'kidnapping' you. "

   " Sounds . . . fine. What are the names? "

   " I haven't thought of them yet. "

" I thought you said that we wouldn't have to worry about names if I changed my last name. "

" Well, I'm just worried that the king will know my last name. I really don't want to risk it. "

   " Jin . . . I think you're thinking too much into it. "

   " But-"

" But nothing. Don't worry about it. "

   " Fine. " He grumbled.

The town was in sight and I could see people wandering the street. We got closer and saw that there were a lot of people and that the town was a city.

" Well, looks like I was wrong, it's actually a city and not a town. "

   " At least there's a lot of people. "

" Yeah, let's go look for some food. They should have some markets around. "

We walked through the city until we reached the market and there was a lot of food around in different stalls. The first stall was filled with baskets of noodles. The baskets were wide and deep. I walked up to the stale of dried noodles with Jin following behind me. I stopped in front of the stall and started looking through the noodles, to pick out which kind I wanted.

" What do you call a fake noodle? An impasta! "

" Shut up, Jin. " You said looking over at him and smiling.

You waved your hand at the woman who owned the stall and pointed to three baskets of different pasta noodles. She gathered one bowl each of bowtie, spaghetti, and rigatoni noodles. She handed it to you and you held the bowls of noodles and looked at Jin.

" Can you get one of the wooden baskets the ladies are carrying? "

Jin nodded and found looked for a stall that sold baskets, luckily it wasn't far away. Once he bought the basket you set the noodle bowls inside and continued walking.

" Have you figured out what we're going to do about money? "

" Yeah, so we have a lot right now that can support us for a little while and when everything cools off and we return here I'll get a job. "

   " I'll get one too. "

   " You don't have to. "

" I'm not going to let you fully support me. Don't be offended but I'm an independent woman who can live on her own. "

" Yeah, but I wanna take care of you. "

" We can take care of each other. "

" Fine. But let me know the hours so I can meet you afterwards okay? "

   " Okay. "

' It's like everything is coming together. '
