Getting To Know
Finding themselves at a new exit, Yuliy was the first to step out. The moment he did so, laughter was heard, "I found Yuliy!" Looking towards the voice seeing none other than Larissa and Tamara. "Where's that cowboy guy and half-breed girl?" Tamara chimed; "who cares about them? I hope they're dead!" Larissa said darkly.
Bishop cursed the girls before raising his hand signaling to the two humans behind him to stay still. With (name) in front of him, Bishop waited for her signal to go; "when in danger, don't think of anyone but yourself" he advised.
"Ne, Yuliy! Look! We brought Misha with us!" Larissa smiled as the shadowed figure of Mikhail showed himself. Upon seeing his brother, Yuliy called out to him only to get a groan in response; "something's not right" (name) mumbled as she gazed at the older brother's form.
"Give me... the Ark."
The white-haired man grumbled before repeating himself "give me... the Ark!" He shouted as he lunged himself at Yuliy. Bringing out his daggers, Mikhail began throwing attacks, "are we fighting to the death? Let me join in the fun!" Tamara giggled as she and her twin flew down on each side of Mikhail. Continuously calling out to his brother, Yuliy felt his chest ache for his brother's vile state. "Misha was punished for not listening to Yev-sama" "he's been doing what he wanted this entire time" the twins explained in turns.
When Yuliy fled the vampire trio, (name) ran after him diligently; "damn! They jumped the gun" Bishop cursed under his breath.
Now with Yuliy attempting to avoid the trio, he used his staff to leap himself on a higher level of the underground cave only to be intercepted by Mikhail. His eyes were pure red and his teeth were bared just like (name)'s that night. Using his daggers to attack Yuliy, Mikhail broke the chains that connected the three-sectioned staff together before pushing the younger one against the rock wall and shiver a dagger in Yuliy's right shoulder earning a cry of pain.
Hearing Yuliy's cry, (name) jumped from rock to rock to reach the top but before she could get too close, she saw a shining orb fly in the air as a red substance dropped off it. 'Was that the Ark?! If so then on it was Yuliy's...' her thoughts trailed off as she saw a red highlighted figure. 'Bishop? Holy hell, he can fly!' (Name) watched in astonishment as Bishop took a hold of Larissa's leg as he shot her in the head.
Shaking her head, (name) remembered she had to get to Yuliy. Hoisting herself up one more time, the half-vampire saw Mikhail raise his right in attempt to kill his brother. With superhuman speed, (name) ran to stop his attack. She was successful in stopping the assault but she had sacrificed her arm that the dagger was stabbed through. Seeing familiar (h/c) hair and smelling the scent of blood that was not his own, Yuliy's sapphire orbs widened; "(name)!" He choked out.
Turning to the Sirius, (name) offered him a glance prior to shoving Mikhail away from Yuliy. A few painful grunts left the seventeen-year-old's mouth as he fell to the ground. On reflex, the younger teen kneeled down to the aid her partner, holding his body up to support him. Seeing how Mikhail didn't move, Yuliy used this time to call out to his brother again, "nii-san, I spoke to father. I know everything. I know what the Ark is and why father took the Ark." Placing a hand on (name)'s, Yuliy used that as a signal to reassure her.
Taking her hand away, she and Yuliy nodded to one another, "I'll be with Ryoko and Iba" she whispered before dashing off. The battle of the brothers was finally starting.
(Name)'s POV
As I leap away from Yuliy, I can't help but worry about him. Then again, this was my Yuliy we were talking about- he'll be fine. Besides, no matter what, I won't be too far from helping him. When I met up with Ryoko and Iba, they gave me confused looks, "we thought you were with Yuliy-san" Ryoko said. I nodded my head telling her that Yuliy would be fine, "I trust he'll be fine" was what I said before walking in the direction of our exit.
Yes, Yuliy will be fine. He always manages to get out of whatever shit he's in. But now I can't focus too much on him; I have to get these two out of here and catch up with Bishop. For some reason, I was having another gnawing feeling. The same feeling I had when the Naoe mansion caught fire. Perhaps I should hurry forward...? No, I can't leave these two behind even though they're both more than capable of taking care of themselves.
"(Name)."
Iba called out to me. When I turned to look at him, I noticed his eyes seeming sharp causing me to flinch. Before he could say anything more though, a small group of vampires came out way. Me being in front, I quickly threw my wires to attach to the sides of the cave with each end attached to my fingers. As the vampires got closer, I could hear Ryoko gasp in fear and I could sense Iba tense up at the sight of the red beasts.
When the vampires got in the area of my wires, I pulled each side powerfully to the opposite side, bringing the wires together as they each cut through the blood-sucking beasts. Blood gushed out of said vampires but I couldn't be less unamused. I've seen this sight many times do this wasn't any different. But that wasn't the same for the two behind me.
A trembling voice was heard. A voice that only belonged to Ryoko. With the vampires turning to ash, I release my wires to turn to her; "is something wrong?" I asked. Her eyes trailed from the vampires' ash back to me a few times before words tumbled out of her lips. "(N-name)-san... what was that?" She questioned in shock. Now thinking back, I don't think she's ever seen me fight- besides with Yuliy.
Nodding my head, I lifted my hands showing her my metal wires, "I taught myself how to fight vampires. Metal wires was always my choice and I think I've gotten pretty good. If you're asking about what I did, it was a simple spider web trap; once the enemy gets in the right spot, I pulled the wires. They're pretty sharp so I can cut through a lot of things." I explained briefly. Pulling my wires back to me, I continue to lead the way. Besides that one time, there were no other vampires and I could say that I was kind of glad.
No vampires. No worries.
Something ironic about myself.
Maybe it was me being paranoid but every once and a while I would check behind me to make sure Ryoko and Iba remained there. Thankfully, they were. Iba called my name again and so I turned to him, "if you're a vampire than why do you hunt your own kind?" The glint in his eyes showed cleverness- as if he had made me question my purpose of joining the Jaegers.
"I hunt my own kind because I hate them."
I bluntly stated. "You hate them? Why? You're also a-" "think of it as murder" I interrupted Ryoko who gave me pity-filled eyes. Seeing the curiosity/shock in the humans' eyes, I sighed; "humans hate and murder one another. They go to war and kill their own kin. Think of me as that- a murderer of my own kin." As honest as I was, I felt a conflicting wave of guilt and thoughtlessness. It wasn't the vampires fault that they got to strange disease and that they yearned to live; yet it was also their fault for attacking the innocent.
A dropping feeling of dizziness caved in on me causing me to stumble to the wall for support. Along with the dizziness, I started to get nauseous. I took deep breaths in attempt to calm down this nauseous feeling inside of me; all the meanwhile I had closed my eyes. My consciousness was fading as this sickening feeling got stronger. I hate it.
"(Name)-san!"
"(Name)!"
'Huh? What's up? Why are those two calling out my name?'
Cracking my eyes open, I was met with the sight of Iba's face. My body was burning yet freezing- I could feel it. Iba and Ryoko's mouth opened but I heard no words. No, I can't rest now.
Shoving away my exhaustion, I grab Iba's jacket, "help me" I groaned making pure confusion dance on the general's face. "What?" "Help me." I commanded as strongly as I could. A hesitant nod was my answer but nonetheless, I took it. I wrapped my arm over his shoulder and asked him to help me stand. In no time at all, I was standing and stumbling with half of my weight being carried by Iba; "you're not as light as I thought you were" he said and I felt an irk mark appear on my head. I didn't need his stupid comments right now. "Don't insult someone who can kill you" I said which he replied with "it's not an insult, it's a compliment. You don't eat nothing like those girls who yearn to be thin" why did I feel myself want to chuckle at his statement.
Humans are pathetic.
I'm pathetic.
"When your job is to chase after vampires and engage in combat with them, maintaining a steady weight is not a problem. If you don't eat you don't have enough energy to fight and end up dying."
I say thinking back to my past self. After I had joined the Jaegers, I had been so used to not eating three meals a day and I remember one day when we had to hunt down this strong vampire, I almost died if it wasn't for Yuliy shielding me from a fatal attack. I admit, I've gained weight but I'm not ashamed of it- more of I'm proud I gained weight.
The air got quiet but it wasn't awkward- thank god. But I felt as if the two were thinking deeply about something and that something was either me or the job of becoming a Jaeger.
