Defeat

It seems like the man was deeply upset because the moment he asked about Alexei, he stormed back in the direction of his house. The three followed in pursuit.

Questions ringed in their heads concerning what the man knew about to Ark and how he knew Yuliy's father. Though, by the looks of it, the man wouldn't give the information so easily.

But Yuliy was determined, 'maybe if I ask him, he'll tell me something' he thought. He just had to know what this man knew- what he kept hidden. "Please wait. You knew my father?" Yuily called out with Bishop and (name) following with wandering curiosity.

The snap in the elderly man's voice as he entered his house was brutal. Feeling disrespected for his new companion, Bishop glared "listen here, old man. If it weren't for him, (name), and I, you wouldn't be here right now. The vampires would've gotten you." Eyes widening, the elder looked at (name) and back to the ground mumbling something almost inaudible; "so you're his child" earning a big question mark to light up over the trio's head.

"(Name), was your father's name (f/n)?"

(Name)'s eyebrows furrowed in suspicion "yes" she answered before asking why he wanted to know. Never before had she seen this man; she had no contact with the outside world as a child. "Figures" sighed the man. He looked to be mentally debating something- something big. "Listen, this might be sudden, but..."

"I'm your uncle."

(E/c) eyes expand bigger than saucers. Over and over, the man's words echo themselves into her head as if trying to process the words individually. Yuliy and Bishop shared her shock; they had not expected this man to say something so upfront and sudden.

Finally taking in the man's words, the half-vampire stayed silent for a second before blurting out "we came to ask what you know about the Ark- nothing more, nothing less". The tone in her voice sounded forced. To her, she didn't care of this man was her family or not- she lost her family years ago and found a new one with the Jaegers. They were her family now.

Letting out a defeated sigh, the elderly man nodded his head "forget about it" he said. Yuliy urged him to tell his tale though.

Seeing how the Sirius wouldn't drop the conversation, he heaved another sigh "I was traveling around the world in search for the Ark. That's when I met him. Alexei. When he told me he was a Sirius, I was surprised; he even invited to Dogville with open arms. I met the family too- you were pretty young so I doubt you remember" "I don't".

As the former general spoke his tale, the trio gave him their undivided attention. "After learning he and the Ark disappeared, I desperately chased after him. Eventually, he ran all the way here to Sakhalin; then he..." he trailed off making the air of suspense rise.

When Yuliy pondered about his father's well being and asking where he was now, the former general blew a cloud of smoke. Once again, he told the group to forget about the Ark- that they couldn't get it; "Alexei made it that way" he said.

Just when Yuliy was about to ask what he meant, the man shouted for them to leave. Before the seventeen-year-old could walk up to the elder, (name) placed a hand in his shoulder. Turning to look at her to try and reason was futile. Her (e/c) orbs demanded Yuliy's cooperation, stopping Yuliy in his tracks.

Exhaling deeply, they turned around, making their way back to Bishop's car that was a little beat up. Upon entering the scratched vehicle, the atmosphere had also appeared defeated; "well, we're alive thanks to you two!" Bishop chimed, trying to lighten everyone's fallen spirits.

Being answered by the silence, the blonde continued speaking.

(Name)'s POV

Despite my sudden feeling of emptiness, Yuliy's curious state, and Bishop's talking, I was so confused. One- about that man being my uncle; two- why did the vampires attack him? Yes, he had information about the Ark but chances are, Yevgraf has already found it. So what was it they were after?

There's nothing to gain from coming to this man's house.

'"Your father was my brother."'

'No! Stop it, (name)! The Jaegers are your family now. Your family abused you!'

I grip my head in pain as my conflicted thoughts pulsed through. Thinking isn't suppose to be this hard.

"Something doesn't add up."

Bishop announced as my mouth flew open "you think so too?" I asked. Yuliy gave me a confused glance; "didn't they come here for the Ark?" He questioned. It does seem like that at a first glance so I don't blame Yuliy for thinking that.

Bishop had told Yuliy how the vampires were here on account of the ancient document, "meaning they probably found the Ark but haven't gotten it yet" I jumped in. But the question will remain, what were the vampires after?

Then it clicked.

The Ark of Sirius. It was protected by Alexei Jirov.

Mikhail is a Sirius who's become a vampire so his father probably didn't allow him to take it. Meanwhile, Yuliy is still both a Sirius and non-vampire.

"It's you."

I gasped as I turned to Yuliy. With an expression of shock, his sapphire orbs caught the moonlight "what?" He was confused and I didn't blame him. "Think about it," I started to say "if the ancient document told them the Ark was here then they must've known where it's been for a while. So why attack the old man?" I asked hoping Yuliy would catch on.

"To keep him silent?" He was clueless; "then those two girls could've killed him before we got here" Bishop concluded. I nodded to signal he was in the right track. I waited for my partner to catch on which proved futile because he remained quiet with a poker face.

With a still clueless Yuliy, I sighed as my expression turned deadpanned. "They were after you." I repeated placing my thumb and index finger on my chin in a thinking motion, "although I'm not sure why" my voice chimed.

It was a lot to take in, to be honest. We came to get information about the Ark only to get a story of the past and a revelation that the man we were looking for was my uncle. I took a deep breath in before exhaling; meanwhile, Bishop drove Yuliy and me back to the cafe for a light dinner before going to find a hotel to spend the night in.

For my dinner, I had chosen to eat soba noodles while Yuliy ate rice with seasoned meat and sushi that he shared with me. In return, I let him eat some of my soba noodles which he concluded tasted better than cold soba.

After our meal, we walked around in search of a hotel room to stay tonight. Bishop being the helpful man he is, found a pretty good deal a few blocks away from the cafe. Upon following him to said location, I noted how classy everything was; at the front desk stood a man who was looked to be in his late thirties. We all greeted him as we walked up towards his desk, "hello there. We need three rooms for tonight-" "actually, make that two rooms".

No One's POV

Bishop's dark blue eyes looked at the girl beside him in shock, "what? Why two?" He asked bewildered. (Name) rolled her eyes "Yuliy and I can share one room to save money" she stated in a matter-of-fact tone making the man feel more puzzled.

Even though (name) and Yuliy sharing a room to save money was a reason to sleep together, there was another reason; they both enjoyed each others company at night. It felt nice having someone lay in the dark with you. Their presence just made you calmer- especially if you knew them like the back of your hand.

Hesitantly, Bishop turned back to the guy at the front desk, "um... make that... two rooms" he uttered. The man nodded his head as he led the trio to the rooms they would sleep in. Luckily, they got two rooms that were right beside each other; that way, in case of an emergency, they could get together faster. "Have a good night" the worker bidded before leaving.

"Goodnight, Bishop." Yuliy and (name) yawned casually; 'what the actual hell?! They sleep together? I hope I don't need to cover my ears tonight' Bishop thought as he stepped inside his room, jumping on the bed. As the night grew on, the blonde man had fallen asleep along with the two in the room beside him.

The moon was at a high point in the sky, releasing its soft rays of light. The light shined through the window in the room of Yuliy and (name)'s hotel room, casting itself on them like a sheet while creating shadows. If you took a closer look, the shadows almost seemed to represent their insecurities; but in this case, the light also represented their trust in one another.

A trust and a bond that even the sharpest of blades, the hottest fire, or even the drowning water couldn't destroy.

( ³ω³ )( ³ω³ )( ³ω³ )( ³ω³ )

You guys have no idea how much I love Yuliy. He could stab me out in the open and I would say "thank you". That's how much I love him- same with Mikhail. He could shove his hand in my heart and I would tell him how grateful I am for him and Yuliy.

That's how bad I've fallen for them. I don't need help, I swear.

What were your first thoughts when you saw Bishop? I thought he was going to betray Yuliy (which he kinda did but really didn't) but I still love him. He a good boi (。・ω・。)

I love you guys! Please stay safe and healthy. Don't go outside in the dark- stay away from strangers even if they offer you anime merch. Listen to your parents and teachers and make sure to eat (at least) three meals a day.
