Chapter: 4 Special Guests

Nathan's POV

I woke up in a really good mood, as today we are having some special guests at our home. I will not lie I am damn excited because it has been a long time since they came here.

Walking outside the room, I laugh when I see, Abigail is trying to push the couch with all her might and the couch has not even moved an inch.

What is even funnier is that Noel is strapped to her like a baby monkey.

I have told her not to buy these heavy couches, but she had not listened to me saying these are comfy and fluffy.

When I have enjoyed her misery for some moments, I walk to her stifling my laughter.

"This son of yours has thrown his paci under the couch and now he is not ready to take any of his other five pacifiers because he wants that same freaking paci." She glares at me like it is my fault.

I guess, my son, so my fault.

"C'mon, cupcake, he is so small how can he know the difference between his pacis?" I shrug and smile at my boy who is looking at me innocently.

"Oh, yeah?" She crosses her hand, "Then why don't you try giving him another paci." She arches an eyebrow challengingly.

"I will try," I say but even I am not sounding confident to myself, as one thing which I have learned you can't trust babies because they have a habit of making you look like a fool in front of others.

Picking up all his pacifiers, I bring in front of him.

"Hey, Potato." I smile showing him all the pacis, "They are nice, right?"

"Why don't you try this one?" I bring a green color pacifier with an elephant toy near his face.

He looks at the elephant with utmost concentration then holding it he chucks on the floor.

"Okay, we don't like elephant, mom." I laugh looking at the Abigail, who is even smiling.

"What about a giraffe?"

His face scrunches up as his bottom lip start to quiver. This is a warning sign before the storm.

Instantly, putting away all the pacifiers, I push the couch away to find that one pacifier that my son wants.

Successfully, finding the yellow pacifier with a wooden beads clip I show it to Noel before his hiccups turn into loud sobs.

"Hold on, let dada wash it for you then you can have it." I rush to the kitchen to wash the paci.

After washing the paci thoroughly with hot water and soap till I am satisfied I give it to Noel who looks content to have his favorite paci back.

"You are a good dad." Abigail smiles and pecks my lips while my heart swells hearing this, as all I want is to be good for them.

The doorbell rings and Abigail looks at me with a wide grin.

"They are here." She squeals as I go to answer the door while shaking my head at her.

"Uncle!" Dylan and Logan hug me at the same time.

While I return their hug with the same enthusiasm and notice the sad face of Irene which of course bothers me as she is my little best friend.

Adam has some family emergency and Hannah also has to go with him, so Abigail asked them to leave the kids with us. So they do not have to worry about kids.

As the twins rush inside to meet their Auntie while I pick up Irene and close the door after their driver has left.

"What's wrong, princess?" I ask removing her hair from her face.

"She is missing dad," Dylan answers on her behalf, "Mom and dad had already left before she woke up."

When I glance back at her, her eyes are already filling up with tears.

"Why don't we call dad and talk to him, huh?" I ask Irene which immediately stops her tears.

"Hey, look who wants to talk to you." I video call Adam, who answers on the second ring, while sitting on the couch with Irene in my arms.

"Pretty." Adam lovingly calls her which makes her smile.

"Daddy, I miss you." She holds the phone with both of her hands as she pouts.

"I miss you too, pretty." Adam smiles.

"Come back to me." She demands which makes me and Adam laugh as her Prescott side coming out really well.

"I will soon but daddy has some important work so I have to finish that." Adam tries to make her understand.

"Irene, don't you miss me?" Hannah's face shows on the screen as she tilts the camera to herself.

"I do but I miss daddy more." She nods her little head while Hannah laughs after hearing her reply.

"Okay, now mom and dad have a flight to catch so we will talk to you later." Hannah smiles."Be a good girl, okay?"

"Bye-bye." Irene smiles at her then Adam takes the phone from Hannah's hand.

"Love you." Adam fondly looks at her and almost tears well up in my eyes when I see Irene kissing the screen.

When the phone disconnect a sad pout comes to her lip, showing she is already missing her dad.

"We also love you, Irene." I hug her while lightly rubbing her back when sniffles.

"This is not fair!" I throw my hands up in frustration while Abigail just rolls her eyes at me.

"I also want chicken nuggets," I demand while looking at the star-shaped chicken nuggets which are in front of my eyes but far from my reach.

"It is for kids." She arches her eyebrows.

"Who said if they are for kids I can't eat them." I glare at her, "I also want chicken nuggets for lunch even I am my parents' kid." I push the bowl of chicken salad away.

If I knew she is making chicken nuggets I would not have asked her to make chicken salad for me.

I love chicken nuggets and she makes really delicious chicken nuggets.

I would not shy away from throwing a tantrum if it means I can get chicken nuggets to eat. However, I have seen how she and Hannah deal when twins or Irene throws a tantrum so I know it will not work on her.

"Please." I eye the triangle-shaped nuggets which she is making.

"Be a good girl, uncle!" Irene keeps her hands on her hips and gives me a serious look, which is damn adorable.

Man, she already outgrew her Uncey phase, and I miss it.

She thinks if anyone behaves nicely it means they are a good girl as everyone tells her she is a good girl if she is being nice. That's why she is asking me to be a good girl.

I love this kid.

"Princess, ask your auntie to give me chicken nuggets for lunch." I pretend to make a sad face. "I also want to eat nuggets."

"If you will do like this, then she will not give you." She nods her head seriously while I roll my bottom lip inside my mouth to stop myself from smiling at her cuteness, "But if you don't ask again and again then she will give you nuggets. Mommy and auntie both do the same thing."

"This is how we men, deal with these women." She sighs, shaking her head while I burst out laughing and Abigail gasps completely shocked then after she comes out of her shock even she starts laughing.

"Who told you this?" I ask in between laugh not even bothering to correct her she is not a man."Grandpa once told me when grandma was making him eat veggies, he also told me that we have to learn to live with them."

"Mom would love to hear this." Abigail smiles with mischievousness shining in her eyes.

Good luck, Nicolas!

I hear a very faint knock on the door when I am working in my home office in the evening. When I ask the person to come in, the door opens and Irene walks inside having two cookies each in both hands.

"I brought this for you." She smiles and hands me one cookie and starts eating the other one.

"Thank you." Smiling at her I pat her head.

"Are you working?" She asks while standing on her tiptoes as she tries to see on my desk.

"Yes."

Picking her up, I make her sit on the table.

"Do you want anything from me?" I keep a hand beneath her hand when she picks up the paperweight so that she doesn't hurt herself accidentally.

"Can I help?" She asks but her eyes are fixed on the galaxy paperweight.

"Yes, of course." I nod my head which makes her smile widely.

Abigail is helping twins with their homework while she is also taking care of Noel because suddenly he has become mama's boy and doesn't want to leave her.

So, if Irene is with me it will be easier for her to manage everything.

"Can you help me by writing your name on this paper?" I place a printing paper and a pencil in front of her on the table after writing her name in block letters a few times so she can trace it.

I remember once Hannah did the same with her to keep her occupied.

Happily, picking up the pencil she starts to write with full concentration as if it is the most important thing in the world.

After watching her for some time, I return to my work.

"Irene, all done?" I ask her when I notice she is becoming sleepy as she is continuously rubbing her eyes.

"Yes." She nods her head while scratching her head with the back of the pencil.

"I will show this to daddy." She smiles and holds the paper in her hand as we walk outside the office.

She is truly a daddy's girl.

After putting the twins to bed Abigail brings extremely sleepy Irene to our room.

As soon as she sees me, she runs to me and hugs me and when I look at Abigail questioningly she has an amused smile on her face.

"You have to chase away the mosters from her room." Abigail shakes her head in amusement.

Irene calls the monster as moster.

"Beat the mosters which are under the bed and in the closet, uncle." Irene tightly holds my hand while pulling me towards the door.

Holding my laugh, I follow her to fight the mosters.

"So, how did the fight with monsters go?" Abigail arches an eyebrow when I return to our room.

"It was damn tiring." I pretend to wipe sweat from my forehead, "But then I can't complain as it is my duty as a Knight to fight the monsters."

"Now do your duty to chase away my monsters." She laughs then pats my empty side on the bed.

I smile as I walk to the bed and lie down beside her then wrapping my arms around her I pull her close to me and hold her till she falls asleep. As it is my responsibility to help her to chase away all her monsters.
